A DAY on the ALBANY & EASTERN Part 1

Journey through the work day of the Albany & Eastern Railroad traveling switcher. The beautiful locomotive and countryside combine for a great day of colorful railroad operations of the short line sort.
A well maintained line provides interesting trains switching customers and interchanging cars with the Portland & Western in Albany. The P&W 1501 makes an appearance or two working with the A&E to get work done efficiently.
In part two we will see the conclusion of the day as the switcher travels to the final two customers serviced on the Santiam Branch to Sweet Home Oregon.

I love catching a glimpse of 1501. She's still on the job 70 years after she was built, and her 567 sounds amazing!

A well built machine, I agree! Very blessed to see these few still operate.
The green and yellow engine is just immaculate. It's obviously well maintained, and the ride was very pleasing!
The Crossing at 7:55 is Queen Ave. I have heard people who live in Albany complain about how switching moves have a way of often tying this crossing up.

It’s a good bet you’ll wait! At least there are other options to get around-just less convenient

I used to work in Albany. I have taken entire meetings over the phone waiting at Queen Street.

Once again, a memory hit! I think I mentioned this before, but I was a regular engineer on the Mill city logger that ran from Albany to Mill city and back! Took empty log flats up and loaded log Flats back! Also work a local freight in Lebanon! Also, a switch engine in Albany all for Southern Pacific . Just curious, is the Depot still standing in Albany? Would love to see it if it is! Also, the depot in Lebanon

Yeah those two depots are still there, and used for Amtrak, and A&E respectively. How great you were able to operate the Espee lines! The depots show up in some of my other videos.

I really enjoy your videos! Their equipment is so cool to see as it always appears clean. I have that A&E loco 1807 in HO scale by Atlas. Occassionally I throw on some chip cars and a old SP caboose and it looks like the real thing here on my home Depoe Bay Model RxR!

I don’t know know the schedule actually, and I’ve been caught looking for trains on days when they weren’t running too. Sometimes you get lucky!
