Today I'm sharing what a typical summer day looks like in our world! And as we recorded this I realized what an awesome season we're in right now. Seasons come and go and I feel more confident than ever that minimalism and simple living are the way to go!!!

3) TWO COURSES TO CHOOSE FROM:
Take Your House Back Course with Dana, Cas & I: www.takeyourhouseback.com/
Declutter Your Home in 15 Minutes a Day Course: cli.re/Course
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO COURSES:
Take Your House Back is hosted with three of us, myself, Dana from A Slob Comes Clean and Cas from Clutterbug. We talk big picture about how to declutter and focus a lot of attention on working through obstacles like sentimental items, unsupportive family members and other hang-ups. This course is FUN, there is a lot of involvement from all three of us and the ideas are specific to those who haven't been successful in the past.
Ideal for those who have been decluttering for a long time with little success and those looking for more community and support.
In the Declutter Your Home in 15 Minutes a Day course we go through the workbook, breaking down specific areas of your home in detail to be able to declutter faster and with more confidence. If you want to know specifics (like how many of each thing to keep) this course is for you.

I think I once heard Dr. Dobson say that 80% of life is made up of “mundane” things. It was good for me to hear that when I was a mom of young children. It somehow made me feel more content. As I get older, I appreciate mundane more and more.

We had it so good (14 years ago) when our children were 11, 14, and 16. Life was so easy. Then we decided to adopt a 9 month old baby. Then when that baby was almost 7, and things were easy again, we started fostering and later adopted a 4 1/2 year old little fireball! THEN, in December of 2020, we brought a newborn foster baby home from the hospital (my husband and I were 53 years old). She stayed for 3 precious months. Much of this was not in our plan (our plan was 3 children) but we wouldn’t change it for anything!!!! 💗

What a great idea hiring a high schooler to work on homework with the kids! Keeps the learning going all year long, allows you to work uninterrupted or to have time to relax, and the older child does not feel she has a " babysitter" bit there is a responsible, older person around in case of emergency.

Yep, I was going to comment that plenty of birds prefer to ground feed. So, the picky birds (I sit a couple feet away from them outside and shake my head) are actually doing the other birds a favor. We feed our squirrels, too. They aren't too bad, and our dog loves to go out and chase them away a few times a day, so it keeps them on their toes. Around here the birds are going insane for the suet! This is the first year we've had this run on suet. Woodpeckers are especially happy when we fill the suet holders.

Beautiful evening walk. I do my 2.5 mile walk every morning at 6am. I love the peace and quiet of the new day. Also before it gets so hot. We live in Houston Texas and this time of year is miserable. In the upper 90s and the humidity of about 94%, it makes it so hard to breathe. But...in the winter is great. Christmas we are usually in shorts and sandals. We all have to find the good in each day.

Keep BOTH instant pots. Leave your 8 qt downstairs and use it when necessary. I found that I use my 6 qt the most and it is faster than the 8 qt to get up to pressure.. but the 8 qt is great for making soups or larger chickens as you have stated. I definitely would consider keeping both. I used your quarantine bin method with my 6 qt and found that I kept wanting to use it. Just my two cents. ☺️

I wonder why you couldn't cut up some of the chicken say take off wings put them in the chicken cavity and the leg and thigh and place on the top or bottom of the breast/back so it would fit in your six quart. I have cut a ham or turkey breast to fit in my six quart when it is too big to fit otherwise. As it will soon be just me and hubby an eight quart will never get used. I prefer to cook soups on the stove as I add items based on the time needed to cook them as apposed to all at once.

We use a wire bird feeder that holds suet. They love the fruit suit all year long and this enables them to “pick” what seeds they want. The tiny birds go for the smaller seeds, the bigger bluebirds etc go for embedded sunflower seeds. Saves dumping seeds on the ground and no mess with the suet holder. We have a three part suet holder:

I wanted to pass along some minimalist ideas-. I have been using a smaller bath towel and hanging it it my closet to dry! This is useful camping-it takes up so much less space and dries quicker! We have a bath towel for each person and they are responsible to wash their own clothes, including bath towel. Also I have pared down my jewelry and store them in pill organizers, only two organizers (container concept). Maybe this will be helpful to someone 🙂

Dawn, I really appreciate how you keep the exposure to your kids limited. Having said that, this is NOT a 'day in the life' of any mom. Someone was supervising the kids making breakfast, kids were squabbling, and someone was making them get dressed. That is a real 'day in the life'. This feels performative.

What a totally satisfying day, I am so grateful to be able to come along with you and Tom and the kids for it. So full of great directions to go in, and what shines through above all is how supported everyone is to follow their plan - that is how accomplishment happens! Great question about if anyone could stand beside me as I went about my day - it really does strike me how much I tend the betterment of the people (patients) I serve and what a true privilege it is to be of help. And it makes me wish to hear more about the successes and striving that make up the days of the viewership. I promise I am awed at the power of good intentions and efforts, and how everyone's story has so much value. Around 6:40 you mentioned that books have been a major source of learning. I must say, for me, in the second half of life, it has been the internet and KZread. Maximum thanks to The Minimal Mom for being a steady source of inspiration!

Dawn, I have MUCH less waste from the birds when I use the small sunflower PIECES instead of whole or unshelled seeds. Sometimes they're looking for smaller pieces that they don't have to break themselves. Otherwise we get rats, too, so it's the only thing I use. My next door neighbor uses in the shell sunflower seeds and has a ton of wasted seed on the ground.

I love both your project ideas! I’ve often thought you and Diana should write a devotional! So excited ♥️ And a class for working moms would be amazing! I was able to keep things together so much better when I was homeschooling my kids. Now, with 2 kids graduated (still living at home), and one in public school, I now work full time and just get so frustrated because there’s never enough time/energy left at the end of the day. Looking forward to your wisdom and encouragement 🥰

What a lovely daily routine. Thanks for sharing. I work outside the home, so after a rushed morning and a day of working, an interesting part of our day is when we make dinner. Cooking is our hobby (my husband and my son enjoy making food), and we try new recipes fairly often. We also like to try more complicated recipes on occasion too. We use our Instant pot a lot too. On the weekends, we plan and shop for those meals. This has turned out to be a good hobby to have as it is affordable and directs us toward healthy, home-cooked foods. Thanks for another great video.

They have arrived and now I just have to decide to what appliance besides my KitchenAid I’m going to apply the other cord wrapper.

Oh my, i adore White Collar. The bromance, the supporting cast members, seeing Matt Bomer on screen, WOW! Plus Mozzie as the magical character. (I never watched his other series with Sara Parker) This was my introduction to that actor, RIP. I really really really was sad when it ended. Maybe i will watch it on Prime too.

First, I'm super excited for your devotional. I know what I will be asking for at Christmas time! My husband likes cargo shorts as well and found some Wrangler brand at Walmart on clearance. He is a semi truck driver so when he is driving he likes to wear them. And they are great quality! We live in an old house so we constantly have projects. Many left unfinished because it just becomes "livable". I recommend Rizzoli and Isles if you are needing another fun, clean detective show. I loved it!

I have too much stuff, particularly kitchen & bathroom stuff. So hearing you reason out why or why not you keep something is hugely helpful. The best part of my day is feeding & watching the peacocks that live all around my house.
