    Love the ordinary life! That's what really makes you both so relatable to so many. Kardashians most of us are NOT, so it's wonderful to see REAL life from REAL folks like the majority of us, even if you are a bit famous! (You are... just accept it!) One comment on your workbook: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have a good proofreader go over it!! I can't tell you how many "professional" materials I see in print and online that have errors - and it degrades the product. I worked in publishing for the phone company for 16 years so I get it - it would cost us if it was wrong! In our world of emojis and text "shorthand", a well-written, well-typed work seems to be a dying art. I proofread/edit on a weekly basis for folks, so I know "we" are still out there - so find a good one! A second set of eyes are always helpful, and they can point out things that seem clear to you, but makes no sense to someone coming in to read it that is new to the concept. I wish you much success with your workbook!

  • @sweetlady6059

    @sweetlady6059

    So true! These days I see so many published items with there instead of their or too instead of to. Proofreading seems to be a dying art indeed but taking time to go over your work makes all the difference between cringe reading and interest reading when words are spelled properly (and grammar too)

    I grew up in a family with 2 girls and 2 boys. When my brothers reached teens, our parents decided we each needed our own room. My dad started remodeling at the top -- the attic, which they took as their room -- and worked his way down. Took 12 years to remodel the whole house and IN EVERY SINGLE ROOM THERE IS SOMETHING UNFINISHED. No doors on the linen closet, missing baseboards, a carpet (remnant) that's not quite right. If your stairwell never gets painted, it just means your house is lived in!

    No, Dawn, black isn't boring! And it also suits you. BUT greenish blue/turquoise emphasizes your beautiful eyes so much! And if you have simplified your wardrobe to black, grey and blue (jeans) already, then turquoise wouldn't mess it up and make it complicated. It goes will all of those (your current) colours. ☆ And that's the wardrobe-system I recomment in general. Find your basic-colour(s) and then mix in one or maybe two nicer, more fun colours. So do I. My basics are black and denimblue, and my fun colour is (dark) green. (I'm a summer-type, like Dawn.) I have a friend with beautiful black hair, brown eyes and golden skin, and she does it with black, white and amber-/honey-yellow as highlight. ☆ It's great, bc. it's fun and still so uncomplicated!

    I did enjoy seeing this day in the life video and so many people commented that this is so normal. Am I the only one who can’t relate? My day is nothing like this. The reality looks more like this. Me waking up tired, trying to get the kids ready ( 4 and 6yrs) rushing to get them to school, sitting in traffic, getting to work late, leaving work late even though I planned to leave on time. Stuck in traffic on the way home, not sure what’s for dinner, kids’ tantrums, bedtime routine. Finally bedtime. I’m exhausted. And tomorrow it’s the same thing again. I used to get down on myself for not being able to declutter, clean and simplify my life. Now I see how your day is totally different from mine. I work full time outside of the home. That is a huge factor that really isn’t addressed.

Very interesting for me is the homeschooling part because for us in Germany there is no real Home-schooling possible, our kids must go to school, which gives the days a structure, no flexibility (good and bad sides). I also like your evening-routine, which is pretty similar to ours (our tooth fairy must ne the same as yours 😆). Thanks for all your videos - it helped me a lot on my way becoming a "minimal mom" ans it's always fun and makes ne feeling good. And even helps me refresh my English 😊. Greetings from Germany 🙋🏻‍♀️

    Maggie’s like I don’t need your help with math, Mom. I got this. Love that🧡 My Em is doing great with Beast Academy and tbh I’m learning math in a whole new way. It’s kinda of insane how I learned math growing up. It was basically rote memorization. That really screwed me when it got to upper maths. I had no idea how or why it worked.

    We just got a game for my 10 y/o and myself and my 7 y/o love it also. It’s called Even Steven’s Odd, it’s a dice rolling game that everyone plays at the same time (no taking turns!) and grabs Steven when they complete the challenge(like spoons). There are math skills involved, and the entire round can be done in under 15 minutes- win! A game both my kids and I are enjoying 😊

    I also think it's great to see you now, as compared to before.. it really shows how things can be calmer on a 'normal' day, and like you said, how we can actually be able to do more projects that we're more passionate about (that isn't about house tasks-lol).. and like how u said you now feel like you have time to take care of real plants. I think it would be neat to hear you talk about remembering the differences between now and then... I know you usually interject with things like that, but I like hearing how you and Tom mention how you did or didn't have time to do this or that and explain why... It's very real life.

    You might think this is a crazy idea, but maybe your kids could pack their lunch the night before. Years ago when I worked from home and my older 3 were in school they always packed lunches, the youngest was home with me but lunch was a scramble with her! I was either on the phone or in the middle of an important task which created many haphazard meals. One day she wanted a to “ pack her lunch” like her siblings, out of that desire lunchtime became peaceful. She loved opening her special lunch box, times she would join me in the office eating happily, often she would love to share her meal and occasionally even packed a little something for me ( even though we were eating at the kitchen table ) 😊

    This morning, as I figured out what to wear to the office, I thought about your basic black wardrobe and even wished I was young enough to follow suit. However, I'm almost 30 years past you in age and it would not suit me at all. I have to say, I appreciated that Tom's birthday gift to you was a blue shirt. Maybe I could do the black-blue-gray spectrum? But then maybe at this point, as I approach the end of my office work life, it's not in my plans for doing much of a work wardrobe update. I did enjoy living your day with y'all, except maybe the 5am wake up time. I'm definitely more of a night owl!

    What about a color scheme? Like shades of deep greys, navys, and maybe 2 other colors that look nice on you? I found I naturally do this bc I don’t like the way many colors look on me. In my closet I have a lot of black, grey, and jewel toned colors. That’s basically it. It’s enough of a variety that people don’t think I’m attending a funeral everyday, but just curated enough that it doesn’t take much thought as to what color to wear in the morning. I think if it as my signature color palette

    I work PT in a professional office, and I rotate the same outfits, including jewelry, shoes, sweater, etc. I hang my clothes on a hook in my closet the night before and it really takes the stress out of the morning. I do like colors and patterns, and having the outfits pre-set really makes it easy.

    Coffee shops such as Starbucks and Caribou (mostly Midwest) open at 5. In rural areas, most cafes open at 6 am because many people in small towns eat there before they go to work. At least that has been my experience with Minnesota small towns. I grew up in a more suburban/urban area so small town life was very new to me!

    I really enjoyed your DITL. I wanted to say thank you for your channel. Because of your awesomeness and inspiration, I finally finished decluttering my 5yr olds room today. I started it months ago but got so overwhelmed that I stopped. I wasn’t even able to walk in it. I had gone in and bagged it all up. Today I finally went in and finished it getting rid of easily 90% because it had all already been in quarantine for months untouched. It all fits on a bookshelf now in bins. That’s not even the best part. Today, for the first time since probably Christmas, my son played in his room for several hours!!! Thank you Dawn, Tom and kids for showing us kids can be happy with less!!

    I noticed your boys getting into bed with their jeans on. Did they really? I never was a stickler for pajamas with my kids. They were allowed to wear anything to bed if it was reasonably clean. Most nights they wore their "tomorrow clothes" so they could roll out of bed and be ready for school. I had two boys with short hair so this worked well for everyone. Pick your battles right?

    My husband saw an episode of Judge Judy who dismissed an excuse from someone saying, “I don’t believe that. Nobody sleeps in their (day) clothes.” He laughed because when he was single, he did that all the time. So of course, that has rubbed off on me and I occasionally fall into bed fully dressed and pop out in the morning ready to go. 😇 He will then remind me “Judge Judy doesn’t believe you slept in your clothes!”
