We have 6 and 8 year old boys…plus my husband 😂🤣😉 and pillows…the struggle is real my friend!!! 💗 I’ve converted to pillow covers instead that I can change throughout seasons and it’s saved my sanity. 🎉 I still have the “no white pillows for forts or the floor” policy though.😉💗

The O Cedar mop you showed is the best mop I've ever used...and I've used a lot of them over the years (75 years old and married 56 years). You never have to wring it out by hand, gets in the corners and under cabinets, the mop head pops off and goes in the washer and bucket is easy to carry around. Two thumbs up! 👍👍🙂

I love the concept that keeping an item will not put money back into our pockets. I also remember you saying once that we made purchases with the knowledge that we had at the time, so that has helped me out a LOT. I realize now that I didn't buy the item with the intention of wasting money.

The Simple Human liquid containers are great. I have owned them for 10 yrs. You do need to let it cure for 24 hrs. I made the mistake of rushing and I woke up to a hot mess of spilled shampoo and a broken container. It is strong as sometimes I just leave the original bottle to refill and let it sit. The silicon glue wont leave markings and easy to replace (just buy more silicon glue from Home Depot) if you need to reposition. Use razor to remove. There are cheaper brands that work well too from Home Depot but they don’t look as great. This type of container can leak if you put something too watery or clogged if something too thick. However, I put lotion and shaving cream and they work great. They do turn green overtime, which I am not sure why but doesnt deter function. They dont rust though. Highly recommend Simple Human brand or other ones.

The other thing to do with multiple cleaning supplies (depending on what kind I guess) is to keep one in each bathroom and kitchen or wherever it's used. I learned from Flylady to keep the supplies to quick clean each bathroom there in the bathroom so I wouldn't have to go hunt them down (that extra step providing an excuse not to clean OR resulted in getting side tracked along the way).

Proud of you Dawn. Thanks for helping others. I was 38 ,wife and mother of two sons and decided to begin college at local Community college, to become a teacher. We juggled everything because my husband travelled often. We never had a clear flat surface, the couch sometimes had clean laundry to fold. House was never company ready. On the weekends we just slaved away in between soccer, basketball, etc. We just stashed in baskets when company was company. We have a huge bunch of relatives and friends. We both mostly exhausted. We lived that way for years. Received my degree and a position and hired a cleaner every two weeks. It helped but we had to clean before she came. We were not organized. NOW I am 73, retired and have decluttered and we have all kinds of clean space. Never too old to learn. I even fold my clothes like Marie Kondo now.

Maybe you can try buying pillows with zippers so that you can wash them and only buy new pillow forms as you need to replace them. This saves so much money and at the same time you can change seasonally and it takes very little space to put away in storage the extra covers (christmas, fall, spring, etc.) This is what I've done for years now and it works so well for my family!

Thanks so much for your candor and honesty. You make yourself vulnerable for us and it's wonderful to listen to you as you meet the challenges of family life. I have a friend who uses the phrase "surrendering to motherhood". I'm kind of a neat person naturally so it was difficult for me, and honestly, I think it's difficult for most people. My family used my pillows for everything from forts to naps. They had to be sort and cozy (read that as not too decorative!) I sort of envied the ladies with the "perfect" front rooms, but then I realized that my home was for living...it's not a magazine. Pillows can be replaced - the memories made are much more important. You won't remember the pillows but you will remember the forts and the fun!! :)

Here’s a thought about the pillows 😂 Buy pillow inserts with down feather, they are easy to put back nice, compared to the fake stuff where it deforms and looks weird. Buy pillow covers ( better yet, if you sew, then but in zippers) and then it doesn’t take up any extra room to store the “out of season ones” I do not have any extra pillow covers because I like using mine all through the year , the key is to buy ones that can go through any season. My kids use my pillows and I just wash them. I have four kids, and I have nice pillows, they build pillow forts and all the things. I do have a rule to not step on them, my house is more minimal so it’s not an impossible task to keep it tidy or clean, and washing them isn’t a difficult task. I follow a schedule similar to Dawn’s, I do a load a day, and I rotate through sheets, towels, and pillows, blankets. Hope that helps, anyone wanting pillows but not wanting to keep pillows in a closet for guests! or just ignore this and do what you want! 🎉

My secret to the pillow situation is to get feathered pillows. I always see them at goodwill for $2 dollars a piece. They work great for squishing and hard abuse lol (I have five kids). For holidays and other occasions you just swap out the covers and you always have a fluffy perfect looking pillow without spending more each time you want something new. The covers are also great to wash if they do get dirty and they are cheap enough to swap out often. I have the same set of pillows for fall, Christmas, spring, summer and even a few extra colors I rotate throughout the year lol all with the same few pillows just different covers. Anyway thanks so much for what you do. You have seriously changed my world and I’ll be forever grateful! Blessings!

I have to say I love how Corbin to the rescue whenever I see him I think he's there rescuing his mom he's helping her he's such an amazing helper to you! I can tell you the ones that were my helpers and loved to clean and do things when they got older they're still like that. Your children have a great head start because of you your teaching you're encouragement! You're educating them! I love the pink stuff the cream one I tried that my mom loved it as well I bought it for her. I use some other more natural cleaners. I love my mop I have the same one as you do and it works really well. I love that you don't have to squeeze the mop head I have tried some other brands of washable mop heads and I like the easiness of the O cedar. The mop heads last a long time. I am actually going on a women's retreat I was gifted. I remember the first time I went on a church women's Retreat many years ago how I cried I had never been away from my children except to have a baby. I have been away from my children many times but not a retreat. So for a couple days I will be able to fellowship with other women which is amazing. I don't know anybody at this retreat but maybe one person so I'm really stretching myself. But it looks like it's a beautiful weekend and we have to enjoy the good days while we have them here in Minnesota. Yesterday I got some supplies to be able to get some projects done in my home eventually so that's a good thing. My goal is to work hard at those projects so I am not rushed when it comes Thanksgiving. Even though I don't know where Thanksgiving is going to be this year it doesn't mean that my home can't be in order better. Today I took some moments and cleaned and I'm doing laundry. I want to be caught up in those things so when I come back from The Retreat I feel like I have a fresh start to the week. Also next week I am going to some medical appointments that I've been pushing off

I love the O'Cedar mop/bucket. I bought it 3 1/2 years ago when we moved. I'm in my 60s with many years of mopping and trying mops, hands and knees, etc. This is a game changer. The only thing I don't like is that corners are hard to get if you have 'left mopping' for a time. That happens no matter the mop head shape.

For families with lots of hair (human or otherwise) or lots of tracked in dirt (which dirties the water quickly) I’d 💯 % suggest the X3 mop! It’s about half the size of the OCedar, has three separate chambers for water, a comes with multiple microfiber mop heads. Really well made, it has lasted us for years! It’s like swifter with out all the chemicals!

I decluttered cleaning products years ago and only use water to wipe things. For grease a little dish soap. If I'm feeling extra peppy I'll use water with essential oils in it. For the floors I vacuum then steam mop with the Bissell power fresh, which is not bulky or hard to maneuver at all. If I need to kill germs on a flat surface I have a spray bottle each of alcohol and peroxide. I save lots of money and avoid toxic chemicals this way. It's a win-win 🙌🏻🙌🏻

My family (all adults) all prefer different shower products so we do have quite a few bottles around. I’m never a fan of decanting stuff due to wasting stuff that gets left in the old container/ spilt down the side/ doesn’t fit. Same in the kitchen. It doesn’t make for a pretty pantry but I just keep pasta, flour etc in it’s original bag and reseal the top with a clip. I’ve got the expiration date , cooking time and usually a recipe suggestion right there on the pack. No need to guess what it is and how long it’s been there.

My dining room table is the center of everything in my home. I have to move clutter off of it every day. That’s okay. When it bothers me I put everything away. Fall is here in Kansas. The flowers are done. The tree outside my window was absolutely gorgeous last week and now most of the leaves have fallen off. This is when I get blue. So I cure that by decluttering. It makes me feel better and I am happy when the stuff is out of my home. Thank you for a great video.

I so enjoy your videos. I feel like you are my friend here and we just hung out with a great chat! You make me laugh! I so resonate with your talks about kids and messy floors and pillows! 😂 You are a sunshine on the internet! I absolutely love your faith based approach to life and decluttering. That view is so full of truth and direction. It really aligns with my heart. Thank you for verbalizing what you discovered between our faith and our homes and day to day with this stuff we own. It’s so important! I am seeing that it is such a distraction to us all when we have so much. it takes away from what we are designed to be doing here on earth. I so resonate with that and that really makes the decisions more clear in my mind when I’m trying to figure out if I should Declutter this or that. So thank you! I listen to your videos nearly every day and they are so comforting and fun to watch too. I have pointed several of my friends and family to them. My kids refer to your videos as mom videos. They see it so sweetly. They’ll say mom go get a coffee and watch a mom video. They’ll laugh and grab me my phone. And they love listening too.❤ My oldest has even said I want to do that too whenever you guys are setting your kids up for success with a chore or some kind of routine.❤

Here's my big input for you as an influencer: Thank you to the depth of my soul for not automatically praising the bathroom dispenser thing. It's great to show us how it's put up and then coming back in a month or so after it's been used a bunch before sharing how it's changed your life forever. Im not normally influenced by people for vacuums BUT I had a mom friend that said I needed a shark vacmop. I seriously waited almost a year from that but I finally jumped on the bandwagon. The main reason I went for it was because you can vacuum and spot mop as needed and all the bits go into the pad. So then there’s no filter to clean!!!! You just through it away when it gets gross. It has replaced my broom for the in between cleans! It’s rechargeable too! I love when a product replaces multiple things! It actually was a winner. I’ve seriously got like 6 other people to buy them lol. I need commission 😂😂😂

I peeled another layer of the onion yesterday. It’s always so ongoing! I got some more clothes out of my closet (even though I do the one in, one out rule) so I could make room for a few jackets that I had in hall closet. Then decluttered several jackets as well. It all found it’s way to a friend that could use it so that’s great! My goal was to clean out that hall closet (again) and use it for a “music closet”. My husband and I play in a band and I was so tried of instruments and sound equipment hidden in my closet! So I managed to get almost all of that into the hall closet which gave me more room to breath in my bedroom closet. The bedroom closet may not look a ton different but it feels different bc I don’t have stuff hidden under the hanging clothes. Just knowing that there’s nothing down there is nice. And now the music stuff is easier to access. I still have to build one more shelf in that hall closet today but I felt good about the overall project! Your videos over the past 2-3 years always help motivate me when I get ready to tackle something!

@@HannahRainbow88 along those lines… a while back I decluttered my jewelry and only kept a certain number of necklaces. I also got rid of my jewelry box and I hung a belt or tie thing in the wall in closet in my side that holds a few necklaces. I can’t put more there than it will comfortable hold without tangling, I can grab one of those when getting dressed bc it’s right by my shirts, and if I have too much stuff hanging then I can’t get to it easily so it helps me to keep that area minimized. I wish my husbands side was as decluttered! Ha. And all my earrings are in a small bin in my bathroom drawer. Works out well and it’s one less thing (jewelry box) to have sitting on surfaces collecting dust!

It’s funny you talk about the pillows. I had a kid the other day have 4 of them stacked and was sitting on top of them 😳 lol

I'm going to echo everyone else and say thank you so much for all the amazing content you deliver!! The part about feeling bad about yourself with maintaining the house and being a mom and focusing on work instead spoke to my heart in a way I cant even describe!! That's exactly how I have been feeling and I have been in such a state of I want to just move and get a more functional house. Watching your videos make me feel grateful for what I have and a reminder to do things to fall in love with my house/space again. It's been a hard few months but today we cleaned out the garage and that was a step in the right direction. Again just thank you so much for being relatable and explaining things in a kind and easy manner. Your words inspire me to live a better life!!❤❤

Hi Dawn, I love your videos! I just installed the simple human dispenser on my shower last week, love it! If it falls off get some locktite construction adhesive to restick it to the wall. Also it looks like you have a nice quality dishwasher with a stainless steel drum, if you have a good dishwasher there is no need to pre-wash your dishes in the sink, just scrape off any solid food and then pop it in the dishwasher, such a time saver!

Hi Dawn. I love watching your videos, they are very inspiring. I was wondering if you knew that you can take those round burners off when washing the stove. Makes it much easier to clean. Then they just have a small duvet that shows how they go back in.
