As a third year english lit student, watching someone actually get a job with this degree is pretty motivating. So used to people telling me its a useless degree and that I should just be a teacher.

@@elevenelevenx journalism! I chose to do a fast track NCTJ course when I finished uni. It has led me to a great job. Also there are financial options and bursaries available and it is much cheaper than a masters :)
I loved this so much Jack! It provides such an interesting insight into the publishing industry and your role sounds so cool! I'm glad you're enjoying it 💫

Notion is pretty great and pretty easy to get into but for private use I think it's better to look for alternatives (like "Obsidian") because it doesn't come with security for your data and it's only online, so when Notion crashes, which it did a couple of weeks ago, or when you don't have Internet on your phone/PC all of your stuff is unavailable
This is so interesting! Can you talk a bit about how you went about getting your job! I'm a graduating English Literature student this year, and I so badly want to go into publishing. Thank you!

Holy craperoni you're so productive! You do your work, you read books, you experiment with furnishing in your room, you play video games, you actually COOK food and test new recipes, and you film and presumably edit youtube videos, and you do puzzles... Meanwhile I can barely get up in the morning lmao. Really insightful video and honestly, a motivating video!
Got rejected for my Masters today and honestly Jack's channel is such a comfort right now. (I hope this doesn't sound bad, honestly not my intention!) Edit: thank you everyone for your kind comments. I got waitlisted for another school and I’m hopeful that I might be accepted to that one instead! Sending positive vibes to everyone.

i must say i love watching these videos because i'm going through very similar life stages as jack. the graduation during the pandemic, the job hunting, the moving. i actually just managed to land my dream job - a big boy, 9-5 position with a nonprofit org! i'm a first-gen student, so i'm the first person in my family to follow this "traditional" route to employment. these help everything feel more digestible and less overwhelming because i'm reminded i'm not the only one growing up!! thank you for sharing, jack.

YES! I LOVE reading the book titles in the background. Also I notice if certain books are obviously highlighted, the amount of books, and how the books are arranged (topic, binding color, or random). Congrats on your job!

I've only just found this video but thank you so much for this, especially for the table! I'm currently doing a Masters and that is such a great way to make down all the info you need when researching - I always forget to write down why I thought the quote was interesting/useful in the first place so this is a great way to remind myself and get the most out of researching!
