This always makes my Sundays better. How does, Grim adjust.. I have had 10 dogs 6 cats and all bar 1 dog and 1 cat have huge issues when in UK clocks go forward and back by a hour and during summer light mornings. I try to keep their routine on time but that hour change sends them all loopy for a good few weeks 🤦♀️ I would definitely be a Polar Night person even a tiny charging light annoys me as love the dark but Midnight Sun beautiful in it's own way.

That dog is in paradise up there. I had a Shiba Inu and he loved cold, snowy weather. He couldn't get enough of it.
As a Canadian follower, I will validate that Schitt's Creek is hysterical. The humour is not as dry as Nordic, nor as dark as English nor as slapstick as American; see I have offended everyone else in one sentence. Sorry. Thanks for your videos and I'll look for you when we visit Svalbard in a month!

It's a KZread channel. She shows the side of herself and her life that she wants you to see. Enjoy it and allow yourself to be inspired by it all you want, but remember that all social media might as well be fiction in how much control the creators have over their content (not fiction as in content being made up, but in the overall impression --you don't see the dark or bored days, fights and arguments, or downturns that are part of everyone's lives, for example).

There are two months between first sunrise and the polar day. Given the fact that the last two weeks, the night is so short and bright, it may even feel like 1,5 months between first sunrise and the day all the time. It's crazy how fast it goes up there.

@@ceezee9179 He has a point. Such channels are selling a dream. Of course, they have issues, health problems and are not happy all the time, but some people do have a positive attitude most of the time and Cecilia says she does have it. I believe her, but I'm still aware that is not the whole picture, but it doesn't matter. Some private things should stay private.
@katelijnesommen

@@safe-keeper1042 I mean this is very true, and I feel like Cecilia is quite open about less positive experiences; she talked extensively about her mental health issues during the polar night before this one. She was very anxious and didn't feel good at all. So I feel she doesn't actually hide those parts of life. Although I'm sure we don't see all of it and that's healthy, she should have boundaries! In general I absolutely believe that she's very authentically herself in her videos and that she's currently in a good place mentally. That we don't see every detail doesn't invalidate that.
I love how Grim is like "Okay I'm bored" and just wanders of for a minute. He is sooooooo cute!
Schitt’s creek is SO GOOD. Give it the first two to three episodes. I don’t know how many times people I spoke to gave up too early. I almost did the same thing. Once I told them to keep trying they came back and thanked me. 😂 One of the best shows ever. Hands down.

Agreed!! I did that…but was convinced to try again…and I FELL IN LOVE. The characters grow so much. It is a beautiful series.
My mom worked at a cannery halfway out the Aleutian Islands as a young woman, and she said polar day was way harder than polar night --that somehow, trying to sleep in full daylight was worse than trying to wake up in total darkness. Even with the curtains fully shut, knowing that it was still broad daylight outside had a weird psychological effect that made falling asleep surprisingly difficult. Watching your videos, I can see why.
@shadelings

I've only experienced polar day when on a family vacation in Alaska during the summer and it is such a weird feeling because when the sun is still high up in the sky at night time, you don't feel tired at all and you literally have to force yourself to go to bed.

I will never understand how my mom worked the night shift hours for 35 years! I worked it for 5 and just couldn’t get a handle on sleeping during the daylight hours. My body was showing the effects of not being able to properly rest. Going to work in the dark and leaving with the sun coming up made it very difficult to function properly. It’s like I would instantly “rise and shine”. 😂 Wouldn’t be able to sleep during the day but around 8 pm get so tired only to have to be to work again in a few hours. Horrible working hours… 🥴

My goodness, I work 6 seasons in the canneries too. Thank for sharing!!! Grew up on the Kenai Peninsula. Annnddd I have done it all…slime line, freeze crew, the docks, a eggbert! Lol We work all hours day & night. Longest shift I work was 36 hours, slept 4, came back and worked another 24 hour shift, but usually a least 12 shift was expected. When the fish are in …we work. Ohh boy to be young again!! Lol But honestly this was the start of my sleeping issues. Plus living in AK the land midnight sun. lol So I applied Black out rolled sheeting in master room only. This made a huge difference for me. Hug to all🙏❤️

Schitts creek is an amazing show. Every character is so well written. Loved it. ❤
To try to sleep better at night, it is an idea to make everything in the house as dark as possible so that you simulate a pleasant "evening". We close the curtains in the living room in the summer because we love candles (we don't have a fireplace). I also watch your new movies every Sunday! And I also often think of Svalbard. Even if I had no children, I would certainly like to experience a year. Especially the polar nights with all the cozy lights, warmth inside and dark days.
It would be lovely if you could make a special 8 -12 hour video of this "ocean and midnight- sun" for us to listen to and fall sleep or just relax to! This video was one of my favorites that you've made. Thank you♡

I just found your channel today; what a spectacular place to live. As an old (don't ask) American man, I grew up with the knowledge that English was used only as a universal language among scientists. Now, with youtube, I am continually amazed that people around the world speak fluent, articulate English better than the average American, switching back and forth between languages with no hesitation. 'Very impressive to a mono-linguistic person. Thanks for the wonderful content and beautiful videography!

I’m guessing MOST of the World has not heard of Svalbard…. But you, Cecilia, have brought your magical home to all of us!!! Thank you!!!😘
As always, very nicely done. So beautiful, so calming. Such a different lifestyle.
While I suspect I would simply stop functioning during Polar night, night during days... I could definitely live well during Summer nights! I would be exhausted though!
I can sleep/nap very well in strong direct sunlight. The warmth allows my body to switch off and become like a sunbathing cold blooded animal. On those days I also eat very little.
The view of the sun and ocean from the deck with the sound of the ocean at the end is something I could watch and listen to for hours! I'd also love to experience midnight sun and polar night!
Before the pandemic, you could buy a nice 2 bedroom apartment, in the city here in Brisbane Australia for that price. Not anymore.
Curious ~ do you wear an eye mask to help you sleep? When you panned out with your drone shot in the valley, I gasped. It's so stunning there! You truly live in paradise! Marianna💜💜

I’ve been keeping tabs on Longyearbyen's weather forecast, and you have much sunnier and drier weather than we have in the Central Europe lately. For the next 9 days we have just 1 day with sun, 2 days without rain, the rest will be gloomy and wet. That's the norm since 2-3 months now. Today was a sunny day, 20 degrees. The last sunny day was on the beginning of March, so two months ago! At this point, I don't care about temperature, I want sun, even with -15, so the whole day or even few days with almost no wind and sun all the time, sounds wonderful.
Was waiting for her to upload a new video🤩
