Studio Ghibli films are totally worth the time 💖

A not well known Studio Ghibli that I think is one of the best is 'Whisper of the Heart'. I'm just going to leave the synopsis here because I think you will be interested in the theme of the movie : "Shizuku lives a simple life, dominated by her love for stories and writing. One day she notices that all the library books she has have been previously checked out by the same person: ‘Seiji Amasawa’. Curious as to who he is, Shizuku meets a boy her age whom she finds infuriating, but discovers to her shock that he is her ‘Prince of Books’. As she grows closer to him, she realises that he merely read all those books to bring himself closer to her. The boy Seiji aspires to be a violin maker in Italy, and it is his dreams that make Shizuku realise that she has no clear path for her life. Knowing that her strength lies in writing, she tests her talents by writing a story about Baron, a cat statuette belonging to Seiji’s grandfather" xau

I started it with a friend, we were like ''awful,boring''. Then we finished the movies with TEARS. It's a masterpiece. The wind rises too. They are not the best success but so freaking good. We have a private joke with the song country road

I know you're not a HUGE Young Adult reader but if you haven't tried already I would really really really REALLY recommend The Raven Boys series or its companion series Call Down the Hawk. In my opinion it's a really sophisticated ya magical realism series with great writing, a compelling plot and AMAZING characters! It's been my favorite series since I was a teenager and it still stands the test of time for me :)

Emma, what you said about your friends really struck me today, because this week three of my closest friends are leaving too, one of them is moving to the other side of the country and two of them will be gone for the whole summer. i get what you mean when you say you were disappointed in yourself for not liking a book. for me that was the song of achilles. it wasn’t bad per-say but it just didn’t hit me like it did everyone else.

I highly recommend Ponyo as well. It is adorable and lovely.

I am glad I am not the only one to give THITCS three stars. I was so hyped for it and it was okay, but didn't live up to my expectations.

Proud of you for watching a movie!! It’s been so long. I started a new relationship, got on meds, graduated Highschool , became a political activist, ended the old relationship for my current one, cycled through some jobs, changed meds a bunch then got off of them, and finished an entire year of college during the time you spent not being able to watch movies. 😭You’re a trooper for sure! It must have been so hard during quarantine not to have something easy to spend the time with like movies/TV. I binge watched all the Marvel movies this Winter for the first time

i must say i missed hearing that piano soundtrack from the beginning!! 🤍

Spirited Away is my fav movie of all time! The song Sixth Station in that movie and the scene including that soundtrack...oh that is where I want to live. I want to get on that train and never return :)

I'm a lit student and I often get very tired from reading these very heavy books and texts, and long for something simpler. But I recently picked up "Waslala", by Gioconda Belli, and her writing has this magical thing to it I think you might like! She's always deep, but in this way that makes you feel very connected to her words and her characters and the worlds she builds. I read "Sofía de los presagios" last year and it was AWESOME! Lastly, I enjoy your videos so muuuuch. They are relaxing and help me focus - studying from home has been hard but you inspire me and I look forward to reading your recommendations! You speak of what you read and like with such love, it makes you want to devour books jaja. hugs hugs!

It's hard to decide but I think my favorites are Princess Mononoke and Whisper of the Heart 💛 When you finish all of Ghibli movies, I recommend you to watch (if you haven't already) Your Name, Wolf Children, To the Forest of Firefly Lights, In This Corner of the World and Death Note And some book recommendations: The Neverending Story, Tigana, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Burial Rites I would love for you to talk about your favorite music and movies!
