A Closer Look at... Fryette Power Station PS-100! The Perfect Companion to YOUR Rig!

Музыка

If you haven't checked out the Fryette Power Station PS-100 yet, what are you waiting for? This incredible piece of kit could just be the missing piece in your studio or live performance arsenal.
The Power Station is so much more than just an attenuator; it delivers a comprehensive range of pro level features thanks to its 100 watt valve driven amplifier. Perfect for controlling the volume of your high powered amps, the Power Station preserves your tone even at super low volumes, you don't lose any of your tonal nuances or dynamic response. It can extend the voicing of any amplifier too, want your modern amp to sound more vintage or vice versa? No problems, the Power Station has the capabilities to do just that.
It can be used as a power boost for low wattage amps too, love the tone of your lunchbox amp but just lacking the punch to gig it, the Power Station will provide the power without drawing on your tone. It also allows for silent direct recording which is perfect for recording any instrument or signal source.
Loaded with KT88 power tubes, the PS-100 benefits from a dedicated foot switch jack for the 2 button switch that is perfect for channel switching.

I just want to say I eventually got a PS-2 (50 watts) and it is amazing. The effects loop is genius placing the time based effects after the full amp character and tone. The tubes in the PS-2 make the experience feel very organic and I feel that PS-2 enhances the natural intended design of the amps I have used it with thus far (Bogner Helios 100 and Bogner XTC 3534). The Fryette Power Stations are leviathans of technology that bring older gear forward to the present. Playing something like a Meris polymoon dialed subtle with the plexi amp makes for all kinds of forward thinking in guitar that is still mindful of the vintage past. I highly recommend.

If quality attenuation is at the forefront of your needs, Fryette’s Power Stations are where it’s at. True sound at reasonable volumes, despite the push for peripheral features by other manufacturers.

Hello. If I’m using say an el34 amp won’t the Fryette change the tone because it has kt88s in the power section? Therefore, won’t it sound like a kt88 amp?

I'm curious about the sound of the tubes in this vs. the sold state amp of the boss waza tube amp expander. The demo was excellent, but I will probably need to hear in person to fully understand the difference.

@@bjhale542 from what I understand the Boss Waza tube amp expander actually turns your tube amps sound into digital at some point inside the box and then also through a digital amp. So there's that.

I just got a fryette ps2-a today. For some reason i feel like the attenuated sound is significantly worse than the sound without the attenuator? I thought it was supposed to sound the same at any volume, but it doesn’t. Any tips on how to get the best out of it? Like i said I’m brand new to this piece of gear.

@@randym3982 i have since sold it, but if i remember correctly i hooked it up to my evh 5150 exactly as the website instructed, and kept only a compressor in the front end of the amp. I have since parted ways because of the huge chunk of tone I’d sacrifice turning it on. I really just wanted to get the pushed sound of the amp at high volumes into an attenuated bedroom sound- but it always ended up sounding infinitely better just dialing down the master volume instead without the fryette.

Not dissing this product at all, but I bought a Power station ( the old model) straight from Steven in his shop in the Valley, and although it sounded and worked great, the feel was just off. I could not for the life of me play properly through it. Went back and forth many times and as soon as that was sold, my playing was back. I had such high hopes for that power station.

Sven ols: Thanks for the comment. What did you find about the Power Station that caused your playing to be off? I've heard from some (and seen an output level chart supporting it) that it can compress the sound some, but most say it is quite dynamic. Or maybe its something else?

@@Matan2222222 I dont think you understand how it works. It's using both resistance and inductance together just like a speaker so its very reactive like a speaker. I think you are thinking of the other attenuators on the market that are just resistive. This thing reacts just like a speaker so it sounds like a speaker or speakers depending on how you set the little switches. It can sound like different speakers basically. This is so people with old Marshall's or other big amps can crank them these days...small amps dont sound like big amps....missing all the iron and power. It's just not the same using a small amp. This is the closest thing to cranking your big amp but now you can have it at any volume. Nothing like any other product out there. I have had many attenuators and I get what you are saying but this has solved that.
