Speaking of people who helped the channel.
Glad you had better luck with Overclockers. I spent over a grand on a pre-built PC in 2008, it died after a week, sent it back, they returned it a month later, hard drive dead. Sent it back again, got it back, graphics cards were hanging off, inner case bent up. They refused to replace it in its entirety, and to add Insult to injury, while they were fucking about with it, the price had gone down to 800 quid, while I couldn't use it, and refused to refund the difference. (I know no one cares, but I felt better for saying that, since their service was atrocious)

Should actually be doable, just dig around in the system files, find the bootup graphic/sounds and replace them with his video intro. Not sure what OS he's got in that though, might not be as easy on Win8/10 (never tried) as it was back on XP/7. (Though it's absolutely trivial on linux.)

This is giving me nostalgic flashbacks to listening to you talk about Spectrum games back when I was still in middle school. I'm old enough to have graduated college now, so, y'know, there's one to grow you up a bit.
This video is the story of my life. 1st computer ZX Spectrum +2 and endless hours of programming on its crappy 48K Basic, until I finally got the courage to turn to its 128K Basic editor. 2nd Computer, my first PC Pentium MMX200 64Mb RAM on a SOYO motherboard, Graphics card the Allmigthy Diamond Viper V330 with the Riva 128 chip, and Quantum Fireball HDD with 3.2 Gb, quickly replaced by the same model, but with 5,1 GB capacity and a 33,6 Kbps analog modem. Thanks man for the memories. Keep up and Stay Safe.
Oh, I can get my own Ashens PC minus the logos? "£4,499.99" Yeah... Maybe next lifetime.

This one was a lot of fun to watch. And wow, that GORF port does look pretty slick! Its fast and so colorful.
Truly an exciting era to have computed, at home, personally.
How utterly charming. Thanks for sharing, Stuart.
My God, that is an amazing PC. Good luck with it Ashens!
I still have an Amiga games collection and a C64 games collection CD on the shelf And holy cow, your gaming PC is amazing!
Nice, a history of Ashens. Thank you.
Great video, always interesting to hear people’s computer time line. That PC is just mega, I haven’t had a new PC myself (besides high spec laptops for dev work - but they suck in the graphics department) They did an excellent job with putting it together the attention to detail is fantastic.
I love listening to you Stuart, I find you invigorating Xx
Well as stealth adverts go this was very enjoyable. Nice to see a spread of machines across the brands.
Im so glad I've grown up around modern technology, old computers are so clunky! Yet there is something charming about them
I'm glad you have a new PC and camcorder. When I watch reviews of Poundland air fresheners or whatever, I want them to be in 4k.

Oh MAN, the nostalgia with Pinball Fantasies and Legends. Never did play the third game that much, but I remember enjoying the other two on my parents' Amiga. Well, when I wasn't playing Rainbow Islands, anyway. That game was my jam.
Good on you for including the absolute best part of Pinball Illusions in that little clip. *_"IJUSTLOVETHOSEFLAMES!"_*
I think what we can take from this was "those were the days" great vid 👍
Your current pc is gorgeous, both in spec and in design!
Gorf was arguably one of the very first arcade games which had an end-boss. Great upload.
hey, nice shoutout to the Nostalgia Nerd. He is like a british LGR :)
God DAMN! Your pc is glorious! Nice vid too
Take a shot every time Stuart says "Those were the days."
Last time I was this early Ashens was reviewing the Chiptendo Vii...
That custom backplate on the 1080Ti is awesome! The custom glass panel is, as well, of course. One cool thing about VIC-20 is that it tends to transcend country/continent lines as people's first computer. I've seen plenty of people from the US, the UK, elsewhere in Europe, etc, say that the VIC was their first machine. That's kinda cool when you think about it
that new pc of yours is amazing
That PC deserves a PC master Race salute
Brilliant video. Thanks
Your new pc is gorgeous. They really did a wonderful job. Also, now I really want to play Diablo again.. :)

"I've said some stupid things and some wrong things, but not that. No one involved in computers would ever say that a certain amount of memory is enough for all time … I keep bumping into that silly quotation attributed to me that says 640 K of memory is enough. There's never a citation; the quotation just floats like a rumor, repeated again and again." - Bill Gates

Ashens, I am genuinely envious of your current PC.
Everyone has to do a video like this - great idea! If I think Spectrum I think Monty Mole - Think Amiga and think Speedball 2- there's an App somewhere in this too!
My first was a ZX 81. I owned lots of books with games in it that you could type over. Oh the tension when you would run it (and it would never run fine the first time of course!) Games were hard to get and quite expensively, so I got creative instead. I still love to fiddle with code and software to this day.
First love these old computer videos keep it up matey

Thanks for the new vid man. Not kidding, my copy of "Terrible Old Games You've Probably Never Heard of" arrived about 10 min after you posted this video. It's like shitty video game Christmas.
I've never really been a PC gamer, being raised on NES and Sega Genesis as a 90s kid from Canada, but this video makes it damnedably tempting to get in on that action.
Respect the nod to Slam Tilt. The 'Ace of Space' music remains etched in my brain - what a table!
Wow that new PC looks awesome
This gave me goosebumbs. My first computer was the spectrum 48k, until my little brother broke it. The we upgraded to the spectrum 128k, this was the one i remember the most. Renegade was so good.
The thing I remember most about the Atari ST is the sound, the music on all the Atari ST versions of games is the best, Turrican 2 springs to mind.
Great vid, but do more food ones haha! And that PC is ace! (To use an 80’s word that nobody uses anymore)
Been waiting for another old computers video. And it wasn't uploaded in the middle of the night!
OMG! I love this!
That pinball table in pinball illusions is more than a little inspired by Appleseed
Nice computer collection Ashens.
I may need a moment alone after seeing that PC.
Hahahah that's UNREAL: Back in 1996 i had my first PC and it was a Pentium 166 (wich later i overclocked at 200Mhz) and the video card was a Matrox Mystique!! :D :D The coincidence is unbelievable. Except I live in Italy and I don't have a brown sofa.
Man that's a good looking rig!
Spot on with Gorf for the Vic20! I went ZX81 - 3D Monster Maze ZX Spectrum 48k - Manic Miner BBC Model B - Repton 3 Home Built PC 386 - Zork Various upgrades - Falcon Series First Console Megadrive - Desert Strike
A nice nostalgia trip
Take a sip everytime Stuart says "Those were the days". I dare you.
I had a Sinclair Spectrum 128k and I bloody loved it.
That's the first game I thought of when you said Vic 20 . It was such a good game for its time .
Woo Gorf I was so lucky my parents had a video store with Gorf and Kangaroo arcade machines, the arcade version voice was awesome
ZX Spectrum +2 was the first gaming system I ever owned, I believe it was Christmas '93. I had the James Bond bundle and a literal box full of games, half of which actually worked.
Brings back memories of when I used to build myself a new PC every year.
There is no pain quite like that of loading a Spectrum game from tape for about half an hour only for it to either: 1. Turn out to be utterly unplayable garbage. or 2. It doesn't bloody work.
Also got try ZX Spectrum +2 for Christmas ‘86. I was 11 and my sister was 9. Played Tapper, Nomad, Amazon Woman and a Daley Thompson game. Nomad was the favourite.
Great what a blast from the past
Nice especially your current PC.
My 1st computer was also a gift from my uncle. A Texas Instrument something that takes cartridges. Used to play Hunt the Wumpus on it. But my favorite thing to do was open up the massive manuals it came with that contained programing code. I would spend hours at just age 7ish putting in code that would allow a ball(black blob really) bounce across the screen once.
I remember Gorf! I really liked it because it simulated several of my favorite arcade games
I used to own both a Vic20 & a Commodore 64. Loved them, especially the latter. I had Gorf as well, but for the Colecovision. A very good port, considering the hardware limitations. Good times.
I came to the “gathering of terror” and it was so good seeing all the old computers! Good times (pizza was good too haha)
Still got my Commodore 64, had too many games to name but navy seals, Robocop 3 and flimbos quest were some of my favourites
Your trousers are incredibly stylish.
Dizzy games were my jam in the 80s, loved my little 48k spectrum
Thumbs up for starting on the Sega Saturn, "the programmer's machine". I also started on a C64. Not a Vic20 but I was aware of them lol
I love older computers. They’re just charming in my opinion. Edit: forgot the s at the end of computers.
You had me at Amiga 1200.
I never played Gorf back in the day, but it actually looks quite impressive for its time, and I want to go find a copy now. Also I remember wanting an Amiga so bad but never getting one, but by the time my family got our first PC, it was around when they were just starting to catch up with Amigas thanks to VGA and Sound Blaster cards, and there was a pinball game called Epic Pinball which I now realize had to have been inspired by the trinity of Amiga pinball games you mentioned. Even the music was in the "Amiga module" style.
your pc is SILLY GOOD!
I had all the Amigas over a number of years... Amiga all the way!! :)
Gorf was one of my favorites. Pretty sure I had it on my Atari 800xl, but had so many systems it's difficult to remember for sure.
The PC looks great 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The A1200 you described is pretty much the same as mine with the 25mHz accelerator(probably the same one, with the magic co-processor or whatever) with 6mb of RAM and a CD-ROM drive connected to the side via a Squirrel. Just instead of fancy pants video capture, I went for a fancy pants 56k modem and browsed the internet incredibly slowly with a browser I can't remember the name of that looked like Netscape.
Good company Overclockers and that’s a bloody nice PC, well done to them! Also, Party Land was the best table on Illusions/Dreams by a mile.
Heh, almost same list as mine. Vic-20, Sinclair spectrum 48k, C64, amiga 500, atari 1040 (loaner), 486SX, MMX200 and then my best PC ever: Thunderbird, overclocking unlocked with a graphite pencil. That baby was at the time a beast but still with in a budget. I used that far too long but it was kind of hard to let go, it was that massive improvement at the time for me. Mostly used for music and programming but games were at least half of the whole thing.
I loved the +2, played that til the 90s
That's a brick wall of computing power you have there. Should last you about 5 years or more. Hope you enjoy it for years to come!
Nice PJ's Stewart!
First Computer: ZX-81 kit. Screwed up the soldering work(bye-bye $50), so my dad bought a TS-1000. Second Computer: C64. Third Computer: TI 99/4A. Fourth Computer: Generic 486. Fifth Computer: Amiga 1200. Sixth Computer: long series of custom-built Pentium and Opteron machines.
My first computer was a 486 running DOS version 4 back in 94, 95. I attribute my early literacy to having to learn to type in the commands to actually play the games. Jazz Jackrabbit was a favorite, and of course I would sneak in a bit of Doom when my mom wasn't looking.
Man I love old games and computers.
