I give anyone credit who tries to cover We are the Dead. I was a teen exactly the time this LP came out, and the song influenced me greatly, almost to the point of a mantra among other Bowie tunes. Bowie didn't even do it live, or not frequently if something exists. The song's hard to do, and least correctly. This band and singer do a great job, but she overplays it a bit with gestures-the song is even more frightening. Bowie was out of this world-especially at the time.

I enjoyed this very, very much. Like many, I was in my teens (17) when "Diamond Dogs" was released. I was completely flabbergasted. I loved the music, but the LYRICS totally blew me away even more. (My parents had completely different opinions.) I read criticisms from time to time that this was not a very good album. I couldn't and to this day can't understand why. I think it's one of his very best. Then, when "David Live" was released... well, that was icing on the cake. "Sweet Thing" and "We are the Dead" have to be two of my all-time favorites. If you really enjoy D.B.'s "Diamond Dogs" (the album) be sure to look into the 33 1/3 book series, and "Diamond Dogs" by Glenn Hendler. It's a fan's well-researched take on the album, who is also a university professor. His insights add so, so much to my knowledge of and enjoyment of this album. David Bowie, you were the greatest.
