The guy from Placebo is an awful singer, but his voice suits the dread that they build into their songs. Bowie always appreciated good lyrics, and quite rightly highlighted Placebo for thier human insight. The gulf between the vocal talent is neverthelss, huge..

At 5pm that day my sis called me and asked if I could get to Hammersmith, quick. She had 2 tickets back stalls to this and her boyfriend gave me his and stood outside, because he knew how much it would mean for me to see it. The rest is obvious from the video which is so nice to see. RIP

The lighting and clothes are as uninspired as the Reality Record so I guess it fits.......for my money 95 97 were the high point of Bowies late career shows......this and the Heathen Tour seem second rate.

My uncle’s ex boyfriend was at a club in Amsterdam in the 70s. I don’t know what year. And this delightful gentleman sat himself down next to him at the bar. They chatted for a bit and Stephen said he became somewhat shy because the guy was so poised. Eloquent. He excused himself and returned to a few friends that had a table. The second he sat down with them they began grilling him. “What did he SAY to you?!” , “Was he nice?!” , “Was he flirting with you?!” … Stephen, my ex-uncle-in-law couldn’t work out why all the questions? “Girl, you don’t know who that was, do you??!! No, he didn’t. And yes, he’d been flirting with him. Very charming-ly. Of all my uncle’s men, I liked him the most. He was the best-looking as well. And I love that he hadn’t known who DB was. Just a little family story of mine. I asked him if he still had anything he’d been wearing that night, so that I could sleep with it under my pillow for the rest of my life.

David Bowie died (among other things) as the coolest person ever to exsist on this planet. Anyone trying to compete can now set new goals and have peace of mind that someone has already achieved this and did it very, very well. Seriously tho - I'm still blown away that I got exist on this planet at the same time as this amazing musical genius and pioneer. As far as humans go - doesn't get much better than this...

Ive always held his 96 Phoenix Festival set as him at the peak of his powers, along with the 78 tour, that i was blessed to witness, and the Ziggy era. I see that his killer, often opener, Look Back In Anger is missing here and the most magnificent version of Moonage Daydream ive ever seen, is not here too. He closed out the set with Moonage and its an absolute beauty. Its close to my greatest ever moment in time with him, followed him my entire life, helped me survive the toughest times of all. The greatest solo rock artist/performer of all, we are all lucky we lived at the same time as him.
