A Bow to Carnatic Music: Gokul Kumar at TEDxGeorgiaTech
Gokul is a classical South Indian violinist. He has performed for All-India Radio, the prestigious Madras Music Academy, and in numerous concerts across the US and India. He's currently pursuing his PhD in Electrical Engineering at Georgia Tech.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. Hi, it's a nice program. But, mritangam is not made of papaya tree as you said. It is made of jackfruit tree wood.

Namaskaram, Gokul. Wonderful speech. I thought musicians are lazy. But I could see lot of energy in you. Pranams.
Too saturated for western audience i think. They wont be able to follow the notes cos they havent heard vatapi before. His playing is too high level for them to appreciate fully. Desha ragam was simple enough but the hamsadhvani was so full of swaras and gamakas theres no way they could listen to it without getting lost.
