TEDxEastHampton - David Ellenbogen on Indian Classical Music

David Ellenbogen is a musician, producer, educator, DJ and radio host. He has performed, recorded and studied music all around the world. His programs featuring live performances by world-class musicians can be heard throughout New York City on WKCR 89.9 FM- NY and are podcast at nycradiolive dot org.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together and share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x= independently organized TED event.     Indian classical pieces don't have any written sheet music and it's not given enough importance in our own country maybe that's why I began learning Western classical and chose piano as my instrument. But there's something different, transcendental about Indian classical music too. I wish we had written music too. But maybe one day when I've achieved the mastery I would love to give our music a try too and I hope I don't give up playing piano out of frustration 😅😅

    That is not Indian classical, that is North Indian classical known as Hindustani. The South is all about Carnatic.
