Thanks man I needed this. Bought a mustang with the same window problem, took it to my window guy and he said $300 for a factory Ford window with lifetime warranty. I think ill try this $7 fix first lol. Thanks again.

Pretty much what’s going on with my 01 Mustang GT. Heard a loud pop when the window got stuck and the rear window track on driver door broke off. It’s currently free spinning with only the rivet holding onto the metal bar. Gonna try this and see what happens :)

These door panels are a joke. Plastic on the mounting cups is cracking and the pull handle insert won't stay attached to the panel at the top. Ford should still be embarrassed by these 14 years later.

Good vid. If I can add some advice. Before doing this, make sure your door hinge/pin assemblies are tight and not worn out. This will cause the door/window assembly to droop down, and misalign. That and your door latch striker plate should also be properly adjusted. Worn hinge pins are a common weak spot on these doors (like mine were). Just saying.

The rear side of the front drivers window on my vert seems to be misaligned and adjusting the bump stop is not fixing the issue. I wonder if this has something to do with it? If the door is closed though I don't see how the hinge/pin would cause a window misalignment. It seems like the door dragging would just make it harder to close, but once closed I don't see how the door could still be drooping.

The track that holds the glass fell off the scissors axle should I get a new track

Great video! I tried this repair with 3M WindowWeld and it didn't hold. I'm going to try the Permatex stuff used in this video.

Scott B permeated stuff works best from what I’ve found.

To help with the bracket staying on for longer time, try reinforcing with a zip tie for the rear bracket of each window (driver/passenger). This is because so much torque being applied on by not the best window track design. See additional link -> kzread.info/dash/bejne/ho2o09Wjnb2zZcY.html

Before you fixed this on your Mach, did you have a rattle inside the door when you closed the door, only when the window was down?

azurebluemach. Yes I did but mine would also rattle at times when I hit a big bump. I found 2 bolts loose on the passenger side window track. If you skip to 6:36 you can see the 2 gold bolts that were loose on mine. I'd remove the panel and Check all the bolts for tightness. Rattled like that for years until I accidentally noticed it when removing the panel and now it's solid. Good luck

Mine is too high in the front and too low in the rear, before i take everything apart, do you think its that same issue? I can also rock the window front and back, thats how i get it to seal actually lol when its closed i leave it a little lower so it doesnt catch and i push up on the rear side of the window to basically have it sit like it should. So that leads me to think its the glue issue

silvr_4v yes sounds like same issue. Seems like window is slightly above glue line or something, your on the right track.

Same exact thing happened to my 02 but my bump stop is also filled with broken glass from the last window that broke. Any tips on how to get the glue and glass out of the track piece??

Hey man I need help ASAP. I have the same issue on my 01 cobra you had on the driver side and due to the Florida heat that exact piece fell off mine. Where exactly did you put that piece on the driver side window ????

Sorry for late response. You just need to put that black piece exactly we’re it once was on the glass. There should be a clean area on glass we’re it was. That’s we’re it needs to be. Again let me know

theclutch3 skip to 7min 50sec. It what the spot your talking about? Does your have a “clean” sport like that on the glass?

How long did this last? I’m kinda scared to just use the silicone sealant, I’ve heard it’s better to use the urethane which is like $25/30 a tube

I have a 2007 mustang and every time I drive with window all the way down it seems to rattle inside the door? Very loud. When the window is up it is fine... Do you think this is same problem or what? :)

AKWASHERE2015 possible the same issue. I had the exact same issue on passenger side a long time ago and during this repair I found out all the window track bolts were loose and obviously rattling. Bust off door panel and touch/move everything to ensure tightness

AKWASHERE2015 ahh not sure about the 2 layer thing but yes remove and give everything a good wiggle and also shut the door while sitting inside and trying to look for what’s rattling

All I can find are chrome finished fr 500 wheel sets. Can not find black chrome. Do they still sell them?

Kyle Blum. Ok I saw the same thing. Only other option is wheelreplicas.com. They sell some currently but there brand has always been a little bit of a darker black chrome. Do a few searches and you should be able to see what I'm talking about before you buy those thinking they'll look exactly like mine

Tizzlebaby_ ya I had a rattle with big bumps and also a pop when operating the window. It ended up being the guide rails bolts were loose. Just make sure all bolts are tight when your in there

2004dsgmach1 it moves up and down a little but it’s off the track and the seal on the outside came off
