👇 ABOUT ME:
Hey! I’m Damian Keyes and I've worked with musicians every day of my life for the past 20 years. The internet is de ply untrusting understandably and here is my background so you can have the full picture.
When I was 18, I was signed to a major label and at 23 I co-founded a Music University in Europe called BIMM (valued at $300M). I’m also a bass player, I’ve played for a number of artists including Eric Clapton, Alanis Morrisette and Billy Cobham. I initially retired at 30, but realised that life gets boring if you’re not building!
I have always been in-between the music industry and education which is how I ended up building my KZread channel - I’ve been teaching artists how to release music long before it was a ‘niche’! I now educate artists around the world with my Academy, KZread channel and Social Agency.
It’s great to meet you and looking forward to working together on your music!

    I'm pretty sure he's not a construct. He might be the devil. " I seen the devil on tv and he spoke with an English accent". Seriously is there anything that Damo doesn't know about? He's not perfect but I think that he's the best we got by miles and miles and miles, oh yeah.

    2 thoughts 1) What would Bach have done? He’d have investigated without preconception. 2) I can spot chat GPT lyrics a mile off….”I’m not going to let this facade get me down, I’m going to move forward rhyming like a clown”. Very relevant video. Thanks.

    Thanks for the the great info. I work as a props buyer in traditional television. With the actor and writer strike, I have time off. I believe the whole film industry will change in the next few years. I am going to figure this out, this is the way the world is going. I am going to embrace it. The last few months have been like going back to university. I have found incredible mentors on KZread and Skillshare. I am learning how to make music, video and plan to become my own studio. Making querky content. The tools that are available and improving every few months. Anyone who has creativity and imagination, these tools are going to allow you to tell incredible stories. Thanks

    These tips are super helpful, thank you! However (respectfully and kindly), there is extreme controversy and ethical concerns about overlaying artists voices onto your tracks to make it appear like they are on your song. Using an artist's voice on your track for popularity is dangerous territory legally and also takes autonomy from the artist. There are some instances like memes and ai covers where it's obvious that they aren't real, but there are no disclaimers on songs.

  • @holisticvocalcoach

    @holisticvocalcoach

    This. Damian, using someone's voice isn't the same as playing guitar 'in the style of'. Someone's voice and timbre result from their physical organic body - they unique to and part of them, like a fingerprint. We should all be pushing for better ethical standards to preserve the unique likeness of real people, not trying to steal their likeness for our own benefit, just because laws haven't caught up. Besides, faking Snoop Dogg is gonna make the artist who does it pretty basic, IMO.

    This is a fantastic breakdown Damian. We either embrace AI or we get left behind by everyone else who's using it. However, and sorry for the whiny comment, but this depresses me. I fear that we've already crossed the Rubicon where discerning between human and AI art is practically impossible. We've gone from human's learning a craft, how to paint, how to write songs, how to do anything creative, to just having to type in some text and 'voila' similar/better results. It sometimes makes me want to give up being creative, honestly. It levels the playing field, that's for sure, but as someone who's put decades into their craft (music, graphic design), I feel... I dunno, a little 'cheated' I guess. Perhaps I'm alone in this. Either way, tough right? It's here to stay.

    Hey Damian - Great vid. Just 1 question... If an artist used these tools to create a fancy music video or 'reacreate' someone's voice, who owns the final film/ recording? Assuming if a popular music artist made it into the charts using an AI voice/ AI music video, these companies (mentioned) would also want a piece of the pie.

    I tried one called Boomy. It wasn't great but I can imagine it will only get better and eventually be indistinguishable from a grammy winning producer. I would love an AI tool that can turn an acoustic song into a fully produced song...I have a bunch of pop songs that I don't have time to produce myself.

    I’m 26 and I already feel so lost in the technological sauce. I can’t operate TikTok, I suck at Instagram and now this AI stuff :-( I just want to express myself and build community this all feels so daunting 😅

    Understandable. Let's start with priorities. I want you to think about just oen platform that features micro content, either TikTok or Instagram Reels and start making some content around your music, talent and personality (but always featuring music). Don't worry about numbers, just concentrate on making some content. If you get stuck check out my TikTok for ideas or look into www.dk-mba.com if that helps where i can personally hold your hand more through the process. Hope this helps. Don't think big right now, lets start with basics and one step at a time 🙂🙂

    I use the image generating AI in my job regularly now, and have already started using it to make my gig posters a lot quicker and easier. I also using midjourney to create AI backgrounds for my promo photos.

    @@DamianKeyes Its incredible. So powerful. Especially when now combined with the latest Photoshop Beta AI update. Will save us a ton of time and money at work (I do product. photography, so now I don't need build sets or book locations) and its saving me loads of time with the poster designs too. Not sure how what the future will look like, but Im not seeing it as all doom and gloom like some, I just see AI as a tool for us to use like any other.

    I also truly believe that some of these "new" tools really ain't so new... They are more or less updates with some rebranding.
