To run sub-9.58, an athlete would need a combination of being a genetic freak, extreme hardwork and perfect condition on the race day. Many athletes only had one or two of those. Maybe there is someone who is genetically better than Bolt, working in an office or a contruction site now. Until we have someone like that training for 100m, really putting in effort in training and having perfect condition on one of his race days, then there is a chance 9.58 will be broken.

Guys remember Bolt run 9.68 running four rounds and then set the 200m record and 4x100 with his team. So these guys think it is easy to run such time at the olympics. Mens 100m running is definitely in a bit of a slump right now, I know Michael Johnson has said in the past it's disappointing that a world championship or Olympic final can be won without breaking 9.8, but that's just how it is sometimes with events having slumps. JaMeesia Ford is putting up some great times and seeing her in Paris would be cool, but I also think being in the collegiate circle and running so many races early in the season means she won't have anything left for Paris. We always see collegiate athletes put up crazy times and then do poorly when it comes to a worlds or Olympics because they've already run like 50 races that season

JaMeesia has primarily been a 200m sprinter this year, but she's also run a number of 4x4s running incredible splits that would be impressive for a Top Pro Athlete let alone a College Freshman! If she doesn't make the 200m Team (for the reasons you gave), I hope they consider taking her as part of the W4x4/Mixed 4x4 Relay Pools like they did with Abby Steiner in '22 when she only ran the 200m @WC Trials but was still picked on both 4x1 & 4x4 Teams!

Hi, I recently found your channel. Is running a sub 10 something that was more common during the BOLT era? I watched the world record run of usain bolt and the entire field looked like they ran SUB 10. I'd appreciate if you could explain to me. Or if anyone could!

Less people ran sub 10 in thr 2010 era, but the margin they did it by was bigger. So we have more fast sprinters but they had crazy quality. Back then youd never see college or high schoolers go sub 10 tho haha

Bolt was such an outlier in terms of physical ability that it'll take someone who runs low 9.7/9.6 at least twice before we can be talk about this. 6'5 with an elite first 50 is literally a once in a lifetime athlete and I really can't see anyone today who's built with "usual" proportions or who doesn't have best-ever insane power or some other once in a lifetime physical gift breaking 9.58. If you think Bolt's start is bad it's because he raced in the time of good starters and especially good starters towards the end of his career when his first 50 started to fall off, specifically Gatlin. In his prime he had an elite first 60m and would probably be a 60m world champ if he wanted to be. Bolt ran 6.31 over 60 and had 19 low top end to finish, no one is matching that any time soon

9.58 is definitely beatable, we know a human can biomechanically run 9.45 on a flat surface. It might take decades though to break bolts record. My guess is as Africa slowly emerges out of poverty more and more talented kids will be able to focus on sprinting instead of walking 10 miles a day to get water. There's definitely some kid out there right now who has the gifts to pull 9.58 off, but other things might get in the way of chasing that dream (weight gain, jobs, debilitating injury, preventable disease) etc.

Tell me you don’t know shit about sprinting without telling me. If stride length was the primary factor in sprinting it would be dominated by 6’6 athletes. That is not the case. Having a longer stride is actually a disadvantage when it comes to accelerating. Usain Bolt put more force into the ground in 0.09 seconds than anyone else. That’s why he ran 9.58. If stride length is the deciding factor why didn’t Ryan Bailey break 9.8? Casual.
