$9,099 - New 2021 ROCKY Mountain ALTITUDE Carbon 90 Rally Edition TEST

Спорт

The highly adjustable Rocky Mountain Altitude Carbon 90 Rally Edition mountain bike is not made for a passenger, it's made for a pilot. This Enduro World Series-winning MTB is ready for serious riding on serious trails. Our Shimano XTR, FOX-equipped $9,099 bike takes a beating under Vital tester, Kevin Lillywhite, with build and geometry analysis by the rest of the Vital team. A FOX 38 fork, Float X2 shock and Maxxis Minion DHR / DHR II tires in DoubleDown MaxxGRIP construction mean this bike made for abuse.
Our 2021 Rocky Mountain Altitude Carbon 90 Rally Edition weighed 31lb, 11oz / 14.37kg without pedals, size Large tested.
#MTB #mountainbike #biketest
4 out of 5 stars, an EXCELLENT rating, from Vital MTB.

The only things thas this bike needs to be absolutely perfect is the capacity to swap between 27.5/29er (or a mix) and a way to adjust reach and headtube angle via headset adjustments.

I have a 2019 Carbon 90 Instinct BC with upgraded carbon wheels, carbon bars and substantially lighter seat, 30 pounds even WITH Stamp 11 pedals. To be honest its more of a bike than i really need riding blue trails at age 65 and yes it likes to be ridden hard and i feel very confident on it. Fantastic bike and considering i bought it as a leftover in January 2020 and got a fantastic price so the upgrades were easily worth it. I agree with your tire comment, mine has the same spec., the grip they offer is worth the drag on pavement in my opinion, i am considering a 2021 Element Carbon 90 but will keep the BC

Very surprised to hear your take on the tires. I was excited to hear a manufacturer have DD maxxgrip tires stock! That's definitely appropriate tires if you're putting the bike through what it was made for... personal preference and different riding terrain I guess.

we did like them for the race environment or wetter climate. the rear maxxgrip on our home trails (generally dry, loose, rocky) won't last long. the other bikes spec'd with maxxgrip up front and maxxterra out back seem to make sense for the bulk of rider, however, even in EXO+ casing.

good question. like mentioned in the video, the tires made a huge impact on the bike. comparing the exact bikes we tested, the trek climbs better compared to this rally version of the altitude. if the rocky had exo+ tires with maxxterra rubber, it would be really close and almost a moot point. the rocky is helped by the climb switch in fire road settings while the trek didn't seem to need it as much. some LSC adjustments could also help seated pedaling on the rocky, too.

I do wish some brands would get off their crazy high pricing. I'm currently on a 18 slayer that I got used and love the bike. I don't know many people in my circle of riding buddies that will pay out that kind of cash for any brand bike. Most my friends laugh their asses off at this kind of pricing. Especially when other brands offer bikes for way less that'll compete with the big buck bikes. With the same components lol. Must be a niche market thing lol. There's just too many great bikes out now that are priced way better than RMB, Yeti, Specialized, Trek etc... Maybe there's way more people with crazy deep pockets than we know of? 🤙🏻😁

I think these manufacturers send out the top builds for review because it would be a shame if the build spec held back the bike. I like to hear reviews with the top build and I know I can buy the cheaper model and upgrade where I see necessary. The $3,500 version is still well spec’d.
