Its awesome to see this kind of development and support, I really appreciate when you do the honest reviews. I wonder if this could be implemented in say, a v10 m5/6 or something, that would be a cool replacement to the smg without the hastles and price problems of the dct in a swap.

It's so great to watch everything come together the way we all hope it's going to. So cool. Thank you again Andrew for the great content and bringing us all along for the fun! (Pain? lol). Personally I've just come to the point where I've saved up enough money to order my new turbos. I'm glad to also have found a Canadian distributor that will sell and ship everything I'm needing to me with NO SHIPPING COST. It's not even massively absorbed into the price as it usually is. So I'll be getting my new 17T's (Thank you for all the inspiration) and outlets etc along with an "O" ring kit and all clamps and gaskets from the same supplier. My total on this is $1235.00 CAD, all in! (yes I'm quite poor lol. I work running a safe house for men that are coming out of addictions and it's not government funded so... just wanting to give back after my life was changed drastically for the better). It's the best price I could have imagined for the whole set up. Of course I'm also doing the oil pan gasket and I would do the water pump and thermostat but they were done 13,000 KM's ago along with the serpentine belt and all pulleys oil gaskets and vacuum lines. (Sans oil pan). I'm not looking forward to the install as I don't have a lift but I might consider renting one.. Anyway sorry for boring anyone that actually read this but I'm very apprehensive about it all and sharing it here is helpful IMHO. LOL. Any advice is humbly and joyfully appreciated. P.S. the only thing that may be of interest to some is that I'm doing this on a XI car so mine will have the all wheel drive option and maybe be interesting to document some results from that point of view. I'm running MHD, XDelete, XHP as well as Pro-Tool software which I find extremely intuitive and capable of almost anything INPA etc might do.

  • @ZeroTo60Tube

I did read it! Haha. Man firstly congrats for having the balls to attempt it in the first place. I did my first oil pan and down pipe install on Jack stands and to be honest the hoist isn’t that much of a benifit unless you are used to it. The first turbos on did on the hoist I was so sore from holding my arms above my head all day. Where at least on Jake stand I was laying down. Lol. Either way best piece of advice I can give is take you time. If you think you can do it I’m 8 hours, allow 16, so you have time to double check everything is seated and tight etc. The worst thing is getting it all back together and then needing to do it twice because a turbo coolant line is t sealing properly. Remember you are doing something most people wouldn’t dream of! Don’t forget to pay yourself on the back along the way and enjoy the process. And ofcourse any questions just drop a comment.

When its warm, its fine until it gets really warmed up (180 F for the trans fluid). do you know if I could make similar adjustments, it has a derivative of the 8HP by chryler, the 845RE.

this is just what i needed on a friday. im scared to break in my transmission next week. i have the pure drivetrain clutches and billet baskets etc etc. they said not to break it in on a standalone but, what option do i have? lol. on a second note, you should just buy the reybestos clutches. you can add an extra clutch in the A clutch pack as well! 1000whp capable all day long with $500 clutches. if you have to open the transmission, youll have to remove all the diff drums anyway. might as well. for what its worth, pure drivetrain makes that billet cog drive and its made to increase oil flow so no more jerky shifts. its expensive but its worth it if youre really going to thrash it.

But in Stage 2+ the 3-2 downshift is loud/clunky and gear feels loose for a second (and jerks forward) before the engine braking kicks in 😖 I have the 8HP70Z on my 650i. I find it so strange that it works perfectly on stock software.

The Gearbox change very smooth and well but When I accelerate, either to pass a car or going up a hill, the gearbox goes into neutral ( always when downshift from 3rd to 2nd )for no reason and I have to put it back in D to keep going. It does not give any sign of error even using ISTA scanner . (I am not using a generic scanner) We changed the solenoids, oil, filter and mechatronics seals, we made all the settings with the box parameters and the problem still continues.
