80's Commercials Vol. 3
Ойын-сауық
A bunch of commercials that aired on ABC on May 15th, 1988.
1. Diet Pepsi (Featuring Teri Garr)
2. Burger King
3. Hillshire Farm Wieners (Heh...)
4. TJ Maxx (I love this jingle!)
5. EPCOT Center at Walt Disney World (Looks awesome)
6. Jeep/Eagle
7. Canada Tourism (I didn't know Canada was in freakin' Asia)
8. Contadina Pasta
9. Lucky Grocery Store
10. Theragran-M from Squibb (Sounds Delicious!)
11. Pepsi Commercial (A young Siskel and Ebert no doubt.)
12. Foot Locker (Check it out, Check it out!)
13. Shell Gasoline (However impossible this was in the 80's, imagine it today. Yikes.)
14. Century 21 Realty (Love the fashion on the Realtors. I wish that earth-tones would come back in style)
15. Dimetapp
16. Imperial Margarine
17. Jaguar (The definition of pretentious 80's consumerism...)
18. Channel 7 San Francisco News Promo (Nothing psyches me for the news like a "terrible freak accident", a race marred with tragedy and gang violence!)
19. Wells Fargo Bank
20. Foster Farms Chicken
21. Magic 61 AM Radio (Featuring Tony Bennett! Nice Shatner Toupee, Tony!)

"This dried linguine will outlive most marriages" lol.
1988...my year 💗💗💗💗 To be 10 years old again.
I remember when I was a kid in the 80's, I used to watch TV just for the commercials sometimes. They're so... positive and entertaining, like they were made by real people instead of focus groups and committees. I still think the 1980's were the peak of our civilization.
These were the best years for me as a child.
God I miss the 80s.

I love the 80's. Everything changed dramatically then. Music, fashion, television etc etc. I really wish I could get these commercials on DVD , they really take me back to my childhood I have so many warm memories. These commercials made my day;)

Commercials back then had more heart and were memorable. The uploader was right when he said commercials took a nosedive after the late 90s.

+Gaucelm de Villaret Jingles..... they went the way of the dinosaur. Now it's all "side effects may include loss of ears and feet. blah-blah should not be taken when operating heavy machinery or when pregnant. ask your doctor if blah-blah is right for you".

+rkmugen Yeah I swear to God the only commercials you see nowadays is big Pharma commercials
that Canada commercial should have won an academy award, just brilliant, conveyed such a feeling of wonder
Watching these commercials i feel so lucky i grew up in the 80s. Its strange when you stop and think about it what are the chances? The hundreds of millions of years of life on planet earth and i grew up in that era? Coincidence or fate?

Agreed 👍 the absolute best! We're lucky.
The 80s were the best times!!!!
I love the 80's
I was crazy for the taste of Dimetapp, I had it a lot as a kid, Grape Artificial Flavor YUMMY!!!!
Watching these make me want to jump in a time machine and go back to those days. Were is Emmet when you need him lol....These were the days when children actually played instead of being parked in front of a tv or computer .We kids had respect for our parents . There was such a innocence back then makes me wonder where that went to . Makes me miss the 80s even more .

The 80's was all about eating cheese. It was everywhere.
1988 1 bed room apartment rent in SF: $300
I was born in 75 and my childhood was awesome! I loved the 80's
Raise you hand if you ever wanted to stand on top of Spaceship Earth (y'know that big golf ball at EPCOT?)
I'm a total 80's nostalgia fanatic. Thanks for posting this video!
To have a time machine and go back to the good ol‘ days….
The 80's the 1950's of my generation.
I recall the Canada commercial and thinking it was such an exotic country. LOL. Funny thing is I grew up in Michigan....about 4 hours to the border.
Little Siskel and Ebert bit is cute and funny!
Dimetapp, that was one of my meds to take whenever I was sick
I remember seeing that EPCOT Center commercial, and being blown away by Mickey being on top of "the giant golf ball."
I actually remember the Canada tourism commercial-brings back memories-I think it was aired around 8 or 9 at night on the weekend, brings back memories of sitting on the couch in my PJs
I have always loved the Canadian tourism short
4:30..I'm the guy in the theragran commercial...hahahahaha

Yeah, I got disconnected for a bit.. I remember in the 80's when we'd go under a bridge or overpass, it would blank out, call signs like 'the mighty 690' didn't occur to me these were manifestations of amplitude modulation radio
@pimphandgamester

***** That's quite a leap to speak for all youngsters. Even my teenage stepson listens to 1190. You try to assume that young people don't listen to talk radio yet listen to podcasts only? People listen to AM because it's on every radio and it's free....like how so many still use IE because it's a free default browser in Windows.

Pimphand Gamester Look at my first comment. I didn't say all youngsters I said some. I bet you go through every comment here and analyze them. Good on you job done. Who said anything about podcasts?
Imagine living in a society where people ate caviar every night, used gold leaf tissues, etc, and never even thought anything of it. When you look at how beautiful even commercials used to be, it's kind of like that. Everything was shot on film and it was beautiful. Now watch our newer digitally-shot commercials, which look so dead and cheap. Look up the new Ford "Swap Your Ride" ads and realize we used to live in that "caviar" world where even the lowliest of media was like looking at heaven.
I love being a child of the 80' no decade better. Things were fun, innocent, and the absolute best. I remember my hi-tops, my teddy ruxpin, and all of the classic, everything, that made the decade great!
Car commercials back then were pretty badass.

Commercials were so long today they can't afford to pay for a commercial past 30 seconds.
These aired on my third birthday, of course. =)
First of all, thank you to 80sCommercialVault. I can't believe that watching commercials can be so addicting, but boy, do they bring me back to a simpler time. Also, it freaks me out that there are kids old enough to wish they lived when I was a kid. I used to think the same thing about the 60s, when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s. Now, I would kill to go back to the 80s. I didn't know how good we had it back then.
I lol'd at the Canada bit 'cause I was NOT expecting it to be about my country XD
One of the most most musically perfect ads ever @ 3:24 Air Canada advert
I wish I couldve experienced the 80s it seemed like such a great decade. I was born in '93 a few years too late.
Omg I remember that TJ Maxx jingle wow

I remember it so well I had to check and see if that was their current jingle
Did I just, in the 21st century, watch a commercial for Century 21, which was made in the 20th Century? Mind = Blown
I remember seeing that Dimetapp commercial and being blown away by that guy's sneezing!
Poor Ralph..
Damn I miss the 80s
@pannoni1 The concept for EPCOT was designed by Walt Disney in 1965, heavily influenced by what he saw at the 1964 New York World's Fair. The final product was very different (And unfortunately less ambitious) but I'd argue that the actual ideas behind EPCOT are more a product of the 60's than the 80's.
If I could I'd go back to the 80s. Fuck technology..
At 9:21, when many banks had limited hours on their 800 numbers, Wells Fargo Bank was ahead of the game. Thank God for online banking.
Holy shit that eagle spot, 8.8% financing?! Never knew they were bending people over on loans that hard then!

I was a child in the 80's. Apparently the interest rates were outrageous in the 80's. Interest rates are rock bottom now compared to the 80's. Now you can get a Mortgage at 3-5% interest. In the 80s even people with great credit could get 8-9% at best.

May 15th, 1988, let's see, it was a Sunday (thx Google), I was 12, 7th grade, I *literally* walked 2 miles to school each way. My brothers were in college, I probably had a sleepover the night before, probably played video games all night...life was definitely good.
Mickey has some balls.

My first car was an '86 AMC Eagle wagon. I really miss that car now! It had it's quirks but I felt safe in that beast. They were kinda like the CUV's of that time. I love these commercials, they bring back happy memories.
I miss Teri and her acting she was so funny and talented
man these commercials bring me back i love this series
I always liked Terri Garr, I wish she was still able to act, but she has MS
Awesome that I found these...watching the third one now, and I just noticed something: Everyone seems to be relatively the same size, they are all thin. Hmm...
Wow, I remember that dimetapp commercial so well.
I would've HATED to be the guy in the Mickey Mouse costume standing on the top of Epcot Center! How'd they even get him up there?!
I remember all these commercials and I even shopped at Lucky stores.
Dude, live in Canada, I need to go out more, I never knew I was in china!
I love the music in the Jeep/Eagle commercial. Pumps me up!
@fubukifangirl Many VHS tapes recorded from this period have a distinct yellow cast and muted colors. This is a product of the VHS format and is not indicative of the original video quality. I've found from experience that Betamax had much better color reproduction than VHS. This is also one of the first commercial compilations I posted, and is basically a direct transfer from the VCR with no color-correction applied.
Im 16 and im like WOWWW these commericials have sooo much singing and music
These came out when I was 2 months and 5 days old. lol
Wow, kid, that's a huge chunk of Imperial margarine you've put on your muffin. Hello, childhood obesity!
RIP Tony Bennett

I barely missed the 80s. I was born in 1990. :-( It's sad cause I love all that 80s stuff.
#6 Jeep/Eagle commercial looks like it was filmed at Luguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, CA. Recognize the Corkscrew from any time period!
@80sCommercialVault, I love the TJ Maxx jingle too. It has been stuck in my head for days now LOL.
the energy vitamin is SOO much better than that 5 hour energy commercial lol
Loved the Diet Pepsi ad, very classic with the music. Other goods ones were the Eagle and Canada ads, the jingle in the latter being amazing.
LOL! although i was just a toddler, i miss that decade as well.
Wow, that channel 7 news jingle at 8:32 is the same one Channel 4 St. Louis used in the late 80s...
I love how the lady at 4:20 (hehe) couldn't figure out 10x52 in her head and needed and 80s calculator to figure it out
This was worth watching just to see that kid with the Imperial Margarine. "Yes I am the muffin man, the muffin man..." SO CUTE!!!
Wow. Lots of local California commericals. I'm a Canadian from Toronto. In the 80's our US channels came from Buffalo, NY. But those national commericals brought back memories.
@skinnyblink7 OMG!! You are crackin me up!! I remember TV, and yeah, calling on phone, praying they were there - I remember when call waiting was a big deal - getting mad cause Mom didnt get off the phone while your g/f called back and you missed the call!! And that TJ Maxx commercial!! I totally forgot about that, and that was my first job! I SO wish I had a hot tub time machine to go back to the 80s!
2:00 I've been to Epcot back in Spring 2008 and I have to tell you that it was pretty nice. Even though they haven't updated the World Pavilion since 1984!
The Canadian tourism commercial was the best, in fact...they could still play it! I absolutely hated all the coke and Pepsi ads, in sheer spite of them...I only used to drink RC :-)
The Epcot they showed no longer exists. Next time I go (hopefully soon) I am going to keep my eye out for any of these advertised items.
In the BK commercial I thought they were saying "big Jesus" When i was a kid, I thought you actually got a crown when you bought imperial margarine Sweet "wind suit" Tony!.
great collection(s)
My Teen Years!! Take me back please!
I've been to the EPCOT Center, it is awesome. I remember that accident off of the Bay Bridge.
Ha Ha, the news after the night movie, Beverly Hills Cop. Yes!
Great memories! That TJ Maxx tune is my JAM!!! I also love the Epcot music. The B.L.A.C.K.

Michael Lane did you know the music in that epcot commercial was used for the intro to wkbs (in Philadelphia) eight o'clock movie?
I like the music from the canada com....very nice
Wow! It's been a while!
The young Siskel in that commercial is Edan Gross...who wasn't on "Step By Step".
Tony Bennett looks like Phil Leotardo from the Sopranos in that tracksuit
The dark-haired kid on that Pepsi commercial was the young Al Bundy on Married With Children.
@skinnyblink7 Hi! I agree with your comment. It's quite true that the things that most people have today weren't around at all. Cell phones, internet access, vehicle airbags, email, mp3 players, CDs, DVDs, etc. were not around just yet, however, they did come around during the 90s. I was born in 1980, and pretty much remember how things were like back in that era.
The two little boys in the dinner.. awwwwww
