8+ Years in Evapo-Rust? An unintentional long-term test of test of rusty tools vs. Evapo-Rust.
What happens when you leave old tools in Evapo-Rust for 8+ years? I accidentally found out when I forgot about a bucket in a corner of the shop. I put some old rusty tools in some used Evapo-Rust and life got hectic. Fast forward 8+ years and I found the bucket. It is like finding treasure from a sunken ship. Join us and see what we discover.

I asked CRC, who makes Evapo-Rust about this. They said they have not done any long-term tests and don't recommend treatment longer than necessary. They also said that soaking metals with a higher carbon content will pull that to the surface. After watching the video, they thought it did not look like the wrenches and punches were affected in this way. It was nice of them to respond. Of course, don't leave your tools in ER for 8+ years like I did :)
Do they make a product for removing the crud if not can i suggest a name Evapo-Crud for a future product 😊

Interesting for sure but since you don't remember the condition and there is no before pictures it's really hard to say what went on.

That is true. I suspect if I had used a mild acid there would have been a different result.
