    1. Putting others first who are putting you last. 2. Following the crowd. 3. Believing and trying to mimic what you see on social media. 4. Saying no all the time. (Don’t always assume the worst of everyone, be more patient, get evidence) 5. Going too far in your heart when you meet someone new you’re interested. (Don’t say yes all the time) 6. Projecting past experiences onto new people. 7. Just doing what you’ve always done to try to meet new people. 8. Limiting yourself to a certain type.

Mark thank you so much for this Biblical counseling. I needed this. I always heard we are creatures of habit. I think I have harmed myself so much because I have became too involved with even acquaintances. Often times it's hard to find people who can be good friends in the church body. I have hurt myself so much with these bad habits. I am too sensitive and seem to put my heart into everything. I want balance. Guidance of the Holy Spirit. Again thank you. God bless.

It takes work on your part too. Learn from your past mistakes, learn what you can change so you don't wind up in those toxic relationships again, and set boundaries in dating and relationships. Know what your deal breakers are and leave when they break them. Life is hard, and relationships are tough. But they change you and hopefully your next relationship will be nothing like your previous ones.

Hi Mark, my name is Andrew, so I watched your video where you shared your own personal experience with how you got to marry your wife Bethany. You also talked about how in high school, that was a time where you said you rebelled against the Lord. The problem with high school is where many of the popular kids almost always rebel against the lord. We need to definitely pray for these popular high school kids that they come to repentance and that they come to know God first and foremost.

This is such a great teaching. There is not too many people online teaching about singleness from a Godly perspective, I’m so glad I was led to your channel. And the way you break things down and speak to the core of single issues from a biblical perspective is on point and timely👌🏽. As usual I was just thinking and talking to someone about points 4-7. I really needed this encouragement today. Thank you Mark for allowing God to use you🙏🏽

My default recently has been 'yes' surprisingly. I was so caught off guard. And I leaned to yes toward a kind gentle soul. I used to say I'd never date a man younger than me. A man shorter than me. Without a degree (at least equal to mine or more, which is just ADN for me) Only a missionary And recently dated someone outside the box. But he's such a wholesome, hardworking, man of integrity. Learning to try outside the unwritten list. Thank you for these pointers 🙏🙌 So balanced

Guilty of no.5 and partially of 6 and 7. But it's better - I no longer go full on crushing. It never works, lol. And yet I'm projecting my experiences of being rejected to all women, thinking they must simply not be interested in me somehow, like I'm not attractive to them. Also, I'm not sure what else to do, to meet new people. I'm a loner and I find it hard in general to just... get to know people. But there is hope, as I'm in the middle of looking for a new church!

Hi Mark, such nuggets of gold here. 1, 5,6 and 8 stand out for me. I am just coming out of something that never was(if this makes sense). Quite painful. The Holy Spirit has been disciplining me through the word, hymns and dreams. I would wake up singing and after looking up the lyrics, I would see clearly my way of error, and dreams where I would wake up crying, the word rebuking me in my sin and folly. I am very much the type of person to put others first yet he would always put me last in every possible way(except when he wanted to play with my emotions). May the Holy Spirit help me to no longer sabotage my future relationships/friendships. I am so exhausted emotionally but I am diligently seeking and praying that God will help me to forget this guy completely!!! Its not hard - we make it hard. I no longer want any relationship that is not God honoring, period! In some of your other videos you constantly speak about them not being the one if it did not work out, especially when the other party is unwilling to go forward. Its quite sad that I had hope in a relationship that actually never existed. Right now, I will be intentional to take my gaze off my idol and instead fully fix my gaze on Christ, because only He is true and satisfying. Perhaps, God in His sovereignty will exchange my gift of singleness for the gift of marriage, if He wills. However, I am choosing this day to take my head out of the clouds and rejoice in the single situation I am in now, and live it to please and glorify God forever.

Aight I have a question: my pastor usually tells me that "God will work in your heart" or "He'll provide you a great woman for your life" when we talk about anything related to marriage, knowing that I see my future with no marriage in my life at all (cuz I don't wanna get married. Got other plans for my life). The question is: how can I make him know for certain and with clarity that we both have different views when it comes to "finding someone for my life"?

I’ve wanted to be a husband and a daddy since I was in kindergarten. I’m almost 24 and honestly, as of a few months ago, I don’t think I want to get married anymore. I can’t seem to meet a Christian lady that isn’t fake (to say the least) I even got out of a “Sunday school” group that was so fake, they made me doubt my own salvation. I’m just tired, bro! 😂 Christianity feels more like a daily chore now and I’m not sure what to do.

I guess the big problem is that life is not like a Hollywood movie. And if we read romance novels, they usually don't follow reality. It is nice when two people put aside their prejudices and get to know each other as a good person. There was an excellent episode on television where the main character looked past a woman because she didn't fit his idea of a desirable woman. He got an education from watching her relate to someone who was dying and giving him comfort in his last moments of life. We shouldn't have to see that to see the quality of someone we have ignored.

I have a tendency to think that all (if not all, then majority) single Christian men want a slender, good-looking Christian woman, who doesn't have extra weight. Is this true or are there eligible single Christian men who are ok to date and marry a woman who has some extra pounds/kilograms (or a lot) but is trying to lose weight? Please no undermining comments and criticism about women not wanting to lose weight, it is so mean and full of hatred, I have seen it already.
