Definitely get it if you don’t (it’s free). You’ll find all the free parking spots there. If it’s possible to reserve a spot at Liard Hot springs campground, definitely do it now. So worth the stop. Otherwise you may be able to park in the big gravel lot right across from the entrance to the springs. Have fun!!

    Hey! Thank you so much for the kind compliment! For this video, we used a GoPro 11 and our Canon 5D Mark IV (links below). But to be honest, we really don't like the GoPro, it has lots of issues (battery life, freezes a lot, takes forever to connect to the app). We replaced it with a DJI Action 4 and it's SO MUCH BETTER. If you have a DJI drone, color matching between the drone and Action 4 is way easier as well. Hope this is helpful! Great video! Are you using your dashcam to record the front driving videos or did you mount a camera on the front dashboard?

  • @ArtWeThereYet

    @ArtWeThereYet

    3 ай бұрын

    Hey there! So happy you liked the episode! We use a combination of different mounting scenarios. 1. The dashcam where you can see the hood of the bus: we mount the GoPro right on the dash, right inside of the windshield, and then we clean the windshield like crazy :) 2. The dashcam where you can't see the hood of the bus: we mount the GoPro on top of the bus itself, right above where the driver sits. We have a magnetic GoPro mount that allows us to just "snap" the mount right to the metal roof of the bus! 3. The dashcam where you can see the whole bus (either from the front or the back): we mount a second GoPro to our little runner car, either facing forwards or backwards. For all of these shots, a long charging cable is necessary to keep the GoPro charged, as well that magnetic mounting system we talked about. We also use the GoPro app to control the camera. Word to the wise: We absolutely hated doing these shots with the GoPro. It takes FOREVER to connect to the app, the battery dies quickly, and the camera likes to freeze right when you need it most. It's also hard to match the colors between GoPro and our DJI drone. For all of those reasons, we switched to the DJI Action 4 in fall 2023 and it is SO MUCH BETTER. It never freezes, the app connects right away, the battery life is way longer, and it is much easier to match color to the drone footage. So if you're in the market for shots like this, go with the Action 4 my friend 👍

    People forget that the last glacial period ending about 11,000 to 10,000 years ago. We are still in the warming period that melted the last continental glacier. Earth has had many warm periods and cold periods. Our current global warming period started at the end of the last continental glacial period. Our current use of fossil fuels has accelerated the warming of the planet but I doubt we can stop the climate change but can slow the change by using less fossil fuels.

    What month did you take this trip? Did you just hide the crowd in the video or was there less people for the month that you were there? Thanks!

    Hey there!! We did this trip in the first week of September 2022. Banff was pretty packed around that time, but our stops in Jasper didn't have lots of crowds. There was a wildfire in Jasper, so that resulted in much fewer people there as well. When it comes to Jasper and Banff, the intensity of crowds you will find really depends on where you go. If you go to the most accessible and popular spots (like Lake Louise or Athabasca Glacier) expect crowds. If you go off the beaten path to places that it's a little harder to reach (hiking in), you'll find significantly less people!

    Hi, if I may ask, how did you go to the other side of the Upper Sunwapta falls? Is there a hike or a trail, and is it dangerous?

    H there, it is actually very safe to get there. There is a bridge to cross to the other side of the river and then an easy short path off the main trail to get to the spot where I took this photo.

    Hi, I don’t mean to ask personal question but how do you deal w costs and finance your trips. An episode on such topic would be a welcome info. I am sick n tired of the corporate rat race. After living vicariously through your trips I want to get out too. Help a fella out 😊 PS: Also what helps you decide n plan your trips? 🍎🎈🙏🏼

    Hey there! This tour goes into it a little bit. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pqCT15Z8Xcioiso.htmlsi=GiWmCGCSGp_-oUWT But basically, we hit the road with no idea how it would work out and we've been in the process of figuring it out ever since! It's been an evolving thing. Our income relies mainly on: Company or grant-sponsored community murals, Patreon, photography and music royalties, the occasional concert, the occasional fine art painting commission, and now KZread ad income. The great thing is that now with Starlink internet providing high-speed internet just about anywhere, most anyone with a work-from-home job can live nomadically! Starlink is a game-changer. If you are able to transition your work to a remote position, snag yourself a van, sign up for Starlink for RV, and you can hit the road!!
