I know Australia, New Zealand and I think England still carry a pretty hefty sentence for rape if DNA is left behind and you have been physically assaulted along with the rape. Paris and Germany are a joke if you have been sexually assaulted, or at least that's what my friend's abroad have said. In the States, some of the puritanical views on sex at least help with our views on rape. We're far from perfect but at least it's a common point of view that rape is bad. It would be nice if that family could come to the U.S. and have all of that babies' work done pro bono.

My dad SA me from 2-16 and nothing has ever happened to him. No jail, no charges, nothing. When CPS got involved, obviously the family found out and he told them I was lying and they believed him. I'm 22 now and have 3 kids and I REFUSE to allow my dad or family to even meet my kids. Just a few days ago I had a family member reach out and say they believed me because my parents just separated and he went to go live with my uncle who has 2 daughters and he got kicked out soon after moving in because he was being a creep. Now he's with a woman who has a young daughter. I can't do anything about because I don't know else about it than that. Also, my step brother, a cousin, and few of my dad's friends did the same. When I told some of my close friends in school they told about family members doing similar things. My oldest dad and one of my male cousin's had it happen to them too. It happens WAY too often.

@@lexis2660 I think she knew deep down but yes, she never told me directly but she let me use her phone one day and her friend texted her something like "you know she's lying don't worry" and when I clicked on it the messages were deleted and I just handed my mom back her phone. Around Christmas though she apologized and we're working on it and she just left my dad so there's that. Also, it sucks really really bad, yes but because of it I'm much more aware of 1. Who is really trying to help me and has my best interest and 2. I know exactly what signs to look for in not only my children but also adults around my children. Now I can teach my kids safety and I know how to appropriately approach someone I think might be going through the same. Someone said to me once "be what you needed as a child" and I have stuck to that as much as humanly possible.

The latest i remember was in guwahati, i guess, where 2 musicians were killed by the mob because the mob believed the hoax whatsapp news that those two people are child kidnappers. And you might have heard this... "an angry mob can take down even the government" I mean, taking law into our own hands is not a good way to deal with these situations. Infact I have witnessed an innocent man being beaten up just because of the misinterpretations. He was lucky enough he wasn't killed by the mob.

as a child no male relative was ever allowed to be alone with me or my sister. although my parents trust our family members implicitly, its sad that incidents like this often are committed by those who we know and trust- often family. my mother protested this on occasion but my father was firm, i am thankful for him.

It's ridiculous to claim that you commited a crime because of alcohol. And it's totally not convincing if you drink only a drop of something alcoholic afterwards. People who claim they commited a crime because they were drunk need AMONG MANY OTHER THINGS to be asked how much they've drunk since commiting the crime. If the honest answer is anything else than "No drop ever because it made me commit this crime" you have one huge additional reason to not take such a claim like "alcohol made me do it" seriously.

People say that alcohol removes the inhibition of people. Think about that. But honestly, blaming alcohol is such a poor excuse. I mean, I've blacked out on alcohol & done things I normally wouldn't do (like hit on/flirt with heavily/go home with girls I just met). It's not that I haven't THOUGHT about doing that, I'm just too shy in real life. That being said, even when I've been DRUNK drunk (i.e., dangerously blacked-out, can't-remember-her-name-in-the-morning-or-what-happened-the-night-before drunk -- which unfortunately happened a lot in my 20s till I got sober), I have never, EVER woken up in a compromising position with a minor. Currently, I'm almost 31, & don't even catch myself hitting on anyone under 25 (I have grown, adopted daughters who are that age now, so I consider that 'kid' age & it's weird for me). If I as a then-slutty alcoholic couldn't go more than a couple weeks (or less) without a blackout, yet for my ENTIRE DRINKING CAREER (16-29) never, EVER slept with or dated anyone younger than whatever my oldest was at the time, then grown men can stop flirting with highschoolers, kidnapping 8-year-olds, or savaging babies. There is no cure for this type of wiring, & there should only be two options: lifelong incarceration, or the chance at a whole new life -- via reincarnation. You shouldn't get a second chance here; you can't be cured if you were born a monster.

Drugs and alcohol remove boundaries and filters. Alcohol is referred to as "liquid courage," tobacco is a "stress reliever," and pot is a "gateway." It starts to feel perfectly okay to do whatever you wanted. These thoughts were ALWAYS in his mind, but societal pressure kept him from acting on these thoughts, until he drank or used whatever he had.

@zxh$ well, first, when you are suppressing one gender with a law, then what equality are you talking about? Why then are we taught that everyone is equal under the eye of law? Secondly, we see in metropolitan and urban areas that parents are not usually preventing their girl children to go out, study and have freedom as compared to smaller towns and states with poorer law n order. So, I don't think we require such stringent laws in urban areas. Sure, laws related to assault and incentives for women to travel and work need to be provided and awareness in schools (most urban areas population can afford schooling) is required. But laws such as "positive discrimination" among women is not required and if you feel it is required, you need to keep a deadline that when will it stop coz it is creating imbalance. Thirdly, it is a bullshit argument that just because women were not given equal rights in past we will give them positive discrimination. Why am I as a boy suffering just because my grandfather did something wrong? This is an unfair situation. Law doesn't work on bullshit philosophy of karma n stuff, it works on logic. And logic dictates that if everyone is equal under the eye of law, that everyone SHOULD include men as well.

She will suffer trauma the rest of her life. Regardless of remembering the incident because of her age. I’m so afraid to have children because of the world we live in. And my choice to not have any may never change because of vile people. I would kill someone if they did anything like this to my child. I just can’t live with it. And he should be killed for doing so.

Actually how could an 8 month old remember it? And being that young and even having to do surgery her uterus would heal and her body would completely change and heal.
