What makes Efren so much fun to watch is his stroke. It's so fluid. You don't see that in any other players.

His smooth stroke is a big reason contributing to his excellent cue ball control, as well as is pocketing abilities.

did anyone hear this guys comment about Reyes age? Sounded like he thought that Reyes was TOO OLD to play this sport! This guys nuts or what!? This guy might feel that HE'S too old but because of its "aerobics" type of exercise, ie walking around the table; stretching; figuring angles, etc. This sport will keep anyone whose "dedicated" in descent shape, physically and mentally. Right?

I just had the best idea, they should put numbers on the balls so that people can talk about the game more easily!!!

Thanks for the stream that was an amazing match, look like Efren had it when he made the red down the rail it was pretty but the 8-ball was off angle and easy to miss, these vintage videos are priceless!

Man bad luck for Efren. A call in rack 8 where he touched the cue ball after winning before the cue ball stopped. And 2 shot clock violations where he wasn't even paying attention to the clock, cost him ball in hand twice.

​@@slhermitYep, watch the score, he lost the rack even though he did not scratch. He touched the cue ball AFTER it rattled the side pocket. But touching the cue ball before it stops moving is a foul and the ref called it. Efren was aware.

The ref is racking the balls wrong on some racks. Cant have 2 of the same color in the corners cause its an unfair advantage

Why are they playing with Yellow and Red balls? Visually it works, but why not play 8ball this way always?

it would be nice if future videos would have the camera pointed at the commentators like in this video 1:25:00-1:27:57 the vision he gave of the game of 8 ball was a bonus during the time frame. the enjoyment and knowledge

Ive been watching these matchs for years. Also seen the clock go down to 0 many a time. This is a FIRST! Does this ref not know about cue extentions?😮😢

I know it doesn't matter, but I hate these non numbered sets.

For league play, where the cost of equipment might be a consideration, I can see it; but definitely not in a professional format, especially when it's being televised and commentators are covering the match.

@@benhill9257 no. When he cut the 8 in the side and almost scratched cross side. There was no clock violation there. I think the ref thought the Q ball touched his cue but it didn’t. He won that rack.

Efren touched the cue ball before it stopped rolling. It doesn’t matter if he already made the 8; it’s loss of game.

@@MrKeith75 My guess is that it's a foul regardless of whether Efren touched the cue ball or not. When it's that close of a call, you can never be sure if he touched it or not and Efren shouldn't have had his cue anywhere near the ball. I'm guessing that rule is to prevent disagreements from players that will put their hand or cue near the pocket of a potentially scratching cue ball and then pull it away at the last second. It's better to just never do this. Just let the ball go in the pocket if it's going to. Efren should know this.

It would have scratched, had Efren not stopped it with his cue. He knew it was scratching and he was probably a little frustrated.

Efren say it was going to scratch and put his tip in the pocket to stop it. He knew it was still a loss of game. It's just something that players sometimes do a little out of frustration. It's like putting you hand in the pocket to catch a scratching cue ball.

Accu-stat, you need to use broadcasters that stop to take a breath once and a while. All they did was ramble on, and on. I don't care what they think the shooters are going to do. They get Efren wrong most of the time. I turn them off so I can watch the match.

Agreed, these red/yellow 8ball sets may not matter for gameplay but they present challenges for informed commentary. So many times they referred to the one ball or the three ball when they meant red 🔴or yellow 🟡

Part of why efren win the game many times over is due to the fact that he is oriental and timid that when westerners would play him it's instant to think they are superior only to break when they see him play.

Efren came up on the shot because he knew he missed the shot. Give the man a break he is about 55 years old back then and on a 10-foot table he's not familiar with.
