I was playing one pocket for some cash and a few people were on another table kind of sneering at us because 'we didn't seem very good' (probably thinking it was 8 ball) and it was actually kind of a good feeling when somebody watching told them 'well these two are the best players in the room and this is the hardest game to play in pool'. Sometimes it's nice being in the spotlight lol

I'm a neophyte in one pocket and thus my comment is so late. Best one pocket I come across. I would think some one could get a heart attack watching this match. When Efren came back snatching the game from Danny when he needed 10 balls and Danny needing 2, I yelp and hollered in appreciation of virtuoso play. But then the next game Danny came with a thriller. I kicked off my socks. I enjoyed it very much!

FINALLY, a top level player that uses that vacuum cleaner looking cue extension. I've been using it for a long time and I really like it, super easy to install/remove, works on every cue I've tried it on, and never sloppy. I pop in on a little harder than he did, and just use a floor tap to remove it, but the shot he was shooting there was so gentle what he did was more than fine. I've even taken to breaking with the thing on, and it actually improved my break a good bit, power and accuracy...but I'm tall (6'3" and my hand wants to be 3-4 inches aft of the back of a standard length cue for breaking, especially when bridging fairly long.

I’ll tell you about the greatest one pocket match I ever saw.. It was 25 years ago, and my road partner was trying to get this one particular guy to play him some hole.. We waited for almost 2 weeks, and went broke waiting.. We had 83 cents between the 3 of us when he finally got the guy to play 9-ball for 300 a set, and he won 4 sets.. So, the guy is angry, and barks at my guy to play some one pocket $500 a game, and my guy accepts, then beats the other guy 27 games in a row for $500 a game.. lol.. I couldn’t believe it and I asked him why he didn’t at least let him win one game?.. He told me it’s best to just win every game, because the other guy won’t quit until he wins one.. Lol..

@@KimbrellBrad It was either that or call home for some cash… The guy never had a chance, anyways.. My guy was the first guy to win both the US Open One Pocket and US Open 9-Ball, so he was getting the cash, either way.. Which reminds me of another story about him and Toby what’s his name, who owned the Cue Club in LV.. He gave my guy 10-8 a month before my guy won the US Open One Pocket as an amateur, and nobody got more than one game against him.. lol..

Why is it that Billy and Danny expose the inherent racism in one pocket? 34:52: it’s all about controlling Whitie! Other than that, fabulous match. I’ve watched it often enough to get kicks from forecasting both commentators’ foibles and rejoinders

Great matches, no doubt, but Bill's commentating is "over-the-top I'm in love with Efren " are massively annoying.

this is the premier thinking mans game on the pool table, demanding all the skills on the table be present and ready for use. Banking, banking multiple rails, with cue ball control, straight pool skills of working ball clusters, ball running, position play, and most important: patience. One has to have played many, many racks of pool to accumulate the knowlege to know what shot to take, where to leave the cue ball, how hard to hit the balls, and when to duck and play safe. When you have played enough pool with high quality opponents, then come back here and apologize for your statement of folly. It will take years to accumulate that kind of experience. I am 72 years old, have played one-pocket for 40 years. Hurry up, i don't have time to wait for you to catch up. I found this particular match sublime, so much thinking going on, so much experience of how to move the balls, and nobody overhit any shot. Precise ball striking and mystical cue ball control. So satisfying....This is not a APA eight ball league where most folks slam the balls with not much skill or forethought.

Very simple. choose 1 poket for yourself at racking end of table, opponent has the opposite pocket.Whoever makes 8 balls in there pocket first wins.other 4 pockets are neutral, the balls that go in these pockets simply spot back up after the inning. If you foul or scratch you owe a ball.
