The perk of getting good on bass or guitar is that the better you get, the cheaper your gear can get and still sound good.

I think differently, if you get a shitty amp then it's not gonna sound good. But if you get a good amp and a shot squire or something it sound wayyyy better. I have a stadium base but I also have a $1, 500 base amp

agung andy Just upgrade the hardware, pickups, pots, and tuners. Did that with a squier affinity bass (but I picked the nicest of the bunch I could find) and It sounds amazing, the frets are sharp at one spot but Im too lazy to fix em and haven’t had an injury yet. But if you want an upgrade, go for a squier affinity ($100) or even better a Vintage Modified bass ($300+ish) Amazing and on par with made in mexico fenders (which is better bang for buck than made in american basses imo)

655 sigu Well yeah, those have been the cheap garbo basses for years that beginners got. For modding platforms you can do some good with it, vintage modified though is a better upgrade, then maybe a used made in mexico with different pickups (because they are only slightly better, so you’re better off changing em out for real fender ones or seymour duncans)

After watching this I got their J-bass. Loved it so much I went back and got their fretless P-bass and another J-bass. Don't have much use for a fretless P-bass, so I swapped their necks. (Yes, they *are* interchangeable. Took about 10 minutes.) Now I have a J-bass, fretless J-bass, and P-bass for less then I would have spent for one used MIM Fender model. I set them up and they sound great. The fretless just sings. Thanks for the vid!

I took a squire neck and added the brass inserts to it and thru it on there added the hipshot tuners and a hipshot kickass bridge and then dropped some EMG GZR pups in it and it sounds EFN amazing!!! these guitars are actually really bad azz to play and mod. I highly recommend them for beginners to learn and pros to mod. Great basses. Only cons I noticed on mine was lots of fret sprouts and neck dive due to wood i'm sure.

I just bought a Glarry P style bass new off of eBay last week. Natural finish. I paid $62.49 total. Its quite a nice instrument for the price. Made from basswood and the cheapest hardware and electrics for sure. But I was 100% pleased with it. Neck was straight, no fret buzz. It has a high tone to it as you would expect but I just roll back the tone control and hit that one and away I go! Thanks for the extremely helpful vids Bully!

I bought a Glarry Jazz bass about a year ago and did everything to it and really the only original part is the body now. I was given an unpainted Jazz body that had a few dents in it and decided to use all the removed Glarry parts on it, even the Glarry strings. The surprising part, it's just a fun bass to play and I'm actually enjoying playing it. Now I tell people to get one and just do a proper setup, don't worry about upgrades. I can also have a direct comparison to my modifications versus original, the modified bass does get played more and I would do it again. That being said, you can get a lot of enjoyment from the stock Glarry.

It reminds me of the ammoon I use.. pretty well made but changing the strap buttons and nut is a must on these.. strap buttons came out real quick.. the pilot holes were over drilled and the nut was a flimsy piece of plastic but that's what you deal with on these sorts of instruments. I'm probably gonna sand the neck down when I get time but what you get for the price is pretty amazing.

I just ordered the 'GIB' 4 string today in 'burlywood' natural. It's more a PJ setup with the split neck pickup and bridge pickup is just like the one's on Bully's J bass in the video. Its also more like an Ibanez GIO body and neck style, no pickguard/scratchplate, and there is no neck dive with that model when its on a strap.

im gonna warn you i had a similar p-bass for $80 and after almost a year of playing the screws were slipping out the wood and it was too soft to actually tighten, i assume the body is so light because its a cheaper wood an thats where they saved money

I have exspensive basses that are like that, like my Fender jazz,I had to put bigger longer screws in the control plate because they did just that, same with my Ibanez Talman 310

Go with the Gold Hardware. I can't believe Glarry sells these instruments so cheap! I just bought a Tele style guitar from them, $84 delivered and it's a nice guitar. I want to try thier IB Bass (Ibanez SR copy)

Not only is it a solid bass for a rock bottom price, but it's a great platform for upgrades. Put a great bridge (Badass, Omega, Hipshot, etc) on it and replace those pickups with Duncan Quarter Pounds and it becomes a beast.

Good review, thanks Billy! Question: Do you know the specs of the neck. Is it a typical thin Jazz Bass neck with 38mm (1.5") width at the nut? Is the neck thin and fast to play?

He did say the neck is a bit more suited for a larger hand. Ive also seen other reviews where they said the neck was a bit on the thicker side
