760 Hp? Most 95%+ people can't handle an Honest to God 400 hp to the ground engine without getting themselves into trouble at some point. As an old drag racer and roundy-round driver I cannot imagine the problems some rich kids are going to get into with the Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, etc. I know I'm putting a target on my back for other commenters....but think about guys you've known in the past who've overestimated their abilities and are now no longer with us and may have taken a few with them. I, too, get pretty excited about the horsepower race but try to think of the driver skills that are needed with these supercars. Damn, these new cars are sweet!

It's a 4,225 LB car! It NEEDS that HP! Compare (drive) an old 90's era Mustang to a modern version and you'll see what I mean! These new Mustangs are boats with all kinds of safety & driver-assist features.

You couldnt of said it better i am 32 and know my limits of driving i have a ls swapped 84 regal and it has 450 hp cammed 4.8 and 6 speed manual trans from a 2004 gto and when i dump the clutch things can get violent and even easing into throttle and taking off fast and shifting hard can get squirly. I wonder how many younger people like me or younger will see a telephone pole.

The ford 7.3 f-350 has 1,050 lb ft soooooo stop lying to everyone abt how 1000 is a huge milestone only achieved by ram it’s just not true the Ford has 50 more torque and like 75 more hp

I've been thinking the same about the past couple vettes, they honestly remind me of the 2010 viper models, wish viper would make one like the 2000 model, it's my favorite (although I'm not really a dodge fan, i honestly like them all)

@@carportshenanigans5918 well they are not known for performance after the gen 3 they went in a joint deal with Subaru for the Scion rear drive thingy it used Subarus engine and trans . It only makes sense they would ride piggy back for the development of the supra. Honestly they had better chassis and drivetrain in the Lexus sport coupes , they should have just taken the bad boy f car from Lexus and dumped a twin turbo Camry v6 in it and been done, new hood and fenders bamm! My thoughts exactly with the Lexus IS-F or whatever it is. Toyota is more than capable of engineering performance, why the choose not to(repeatedly) is beyond me. Toyota used to be a company known for caring about the driving experience, now it seems the bean-counters have taken over.

Nah. Co developed by BMW and Toyota. BMW sent the Inline 6 to Toyota and they fixed more than 40 flaws. The Supra is better than the BMW in every way.

The only reason the BMW doesn't blow head gaskets is because Toyota had to redesign the head and deck. BMW was gonna run a forced induction setup on a block designed for NA without major modifications. Toyota also found major flaws in the variable cam, oil pump, and crank itself. It's a way better performer because of Toyota. Toyota's whole thing is reliability, so they fixed the ultimate driving machine.

I thought it was to produce 760hp and im misunderstood from other people that have it already??

Done a few of them we used them on the Holden here in OZ 😊

The Redeye is trash. The new GT500 destroys it's 1/4 mile time and trap speed.

@John Johnson definitely not. Challenger is worse in every metric. I definitely wouldn't spend money on FCA trash built on a 90s platform.

if you think that outsourced built engine in that dodge truck is the most powerful, you should go look at the 2020 6.7L FORD diesel.

Toyota should make a street model of the Nascar Supra. It's weird how the Shelby uses the older headlights shape from the 2015-2017. 18:00 Ugh, that Mopar turn signal cam assembly. I was having problems with the turn signals and brake lights on my 71 Dodge Polara. Tried to repair the old one, re-soldering it, putting in new whiskers, trimming the whiskers, wouldn't work for long. Finally bought a new one and the damn emergency flashers stayed on. Took it out, compared it to the old one with a continuity checker and it was different. Finally just gutted and bypassed the flashers section with a wire and it worked.. but still don't have consistent brake lights. Been adjusting the brake switch at the pedal trying to find the sweet spot but still inconsistent. It's not the switch because it works every time with my thumb, just something about how the pedal interacts with it. bleh.

This is last year's show. The 2020 NAIAS is in June.

That Corvette ain't gonna see 212 mph with that big stupid wing on it. In fact the Ford GT hits 213 mph ..using a 3.5L V6 with 110 less hp. The Redeye may be quick in a 1/4 mile but being the "fastest production car ever" isn't possible with that huge parachute on the front end!

C8 beats the gt500 0-60, but after that, gt500 kicks the Vette's ass all over the place. Mid-engine gets the traction off the line, but 495hp Vette versus 760hp gt500.......

Ford also lied about the power numbers for the GT500. It makes like 760 to 780 to the wheels. So it's making more like 840 at the crank. Plus it's 0-60 is like 2.8. It's on level with the ZR1. GT500 is a legit supercar.

Not to be picky but the GT 350 mustang had 350 horsepower, the GT 500 had 500 horsepower. So shouldn't this be called the GT 700?

The GT350 was named as such because it was estimated that the distance between Shelby American and Remington's shops was "around 350 feet." Shelby decided to call it the GT350 as a result. Shelby said “The name wouldn’t make the car, and if it is a bad car, the name won’t save it.”
