PowerNation. So folks when does the next episode post.?
everyone talking smack about this beauty. the new mixed in with the rust and old parts is awesome.
One of the coolest car designs ever made. In person the sheer width and length of the car (along with the "chopped" glass - this thing has like 14" tall windows) gives it a mean look and a PRESENCE no other car on the road has. I won a 78 Mercury Grand Marquis coupe, I want a 72 one day.
Maaaaan... I've been waiting on an update on this Mercury.. finally thx 👍

Between the 1,100 HP, ghetto/somewhat retro rims, and the bagged suspension, this Mercury seems more and more of like a mad-Mexican project.

All the money they are throwing at this thing they could clean up the undercarriage since they are pulling it all apart .. por15 and some undercoat would go a long way

That stuff is amazing, but a little pricey. Try coal tar epoxy, it's actually an industrial coating for offshore oil rigs to keep them from rusting in salt water. It's also a crapload cheaper

its because they're motorheads not bodyshop guys.. but I also wonder why anyone doing a restoration doesn't spray the entire underside with Phosphoric Acid Rust Converter to neutralize the rust and convert it to an oxide that is easy to wire brush or just paint over.. but this car after they are done is going to be worth less than the cost of the parts they put on it.. unless its for one of their dad's as a specialty project.. give it to dad to drive to the golf course .. throw 4 sets of clubs in the trunk.. heh but those wheels idk if dad is going for that. heh.... maybe kinda looks like boat steering wheels or somethin

Recommend cleaning up the underside first before the mods, or just put the mods on a custom vehicle. This one deserves to be restored properly.

Super intresting build thats the last car I would ever think of putting so mutch power in,! I love it.
You had me interested until the pimp wheels... My first car was a 79 Mercury Marquis with dual carbs dual exhaust an air suspension and bored to 500... was dad's trailer miss piggy. Could outrun a Boss 351Mustang or late 70's Corvette... Not quite sure what was done under the hood but it was a dragster tank.

Those rims actually looked good on this car because of the of the fact that the car was size proportionate for the rims Put the same rims on a 2013 Mustang and they'd really look awful

Yes, I think they should have made them look like the stock wheels so there would have been no clue whatsoever to the massive amount of power under the hood.
Beautiful lines on that old Merc. I'd like to see one of these boats with a late model Powerstroke.
Very nice work on that axle , the construction of the mounting brackets and the quality of the welding ...TOP DRAWER! You definitely don't want to burn your bag!😂😂

The '72 Marquis coupe was one of the best looking full size cars of that era. Love the roof line.
This has to be one of my favorite builds.
This is beautiful!!
71 Merc Marq Bro 4 door 429 was my first ride. What a boat. I remember going through freeze plugs for a while. She'd just dump coolant. My dad was a cop in Detroit and he'd drive her to work down the Jeffries freeway at night before it was open. Doing about 100 with all the windows open. He said he thought he was getting taller. Apparently the vacuum created by speed and open windows inverted the headliner and it was hitting him on top of the head.
Looks great, good job on the build
One of a kind
All I can say is, 😮 wow!!!!!
This show is like a class to me i learn alot of stuff

"You don't wanna burn yer bag". 'Cause burnin' yer bag really hurts.
Love that big Ford...
The nice thing about air bags is that you don’t have to replace them till AFTER you install them. So there’s that. 🤓🙄
Love learning about that rear end kit you got eventually im going to be putting in a 1000+ hp big block chevy in my c10 but I can't ever find things that are rated to handle that kinda power
Can't believe we didn't get to see the thing run!
Till next time, Y'all keep it between the ditches
I love watching these guy's channel, and normally enjoy everything they do. However, this time I hate the way they hung that Currie axle. Ford used channels on the trailing arms for a reason. I used to make my own bushings and box those in. Moog cargo coil springs along with a set of the old adjustable Gabriel shocks. Also used Hellwigs anti-sway bars front and rear. I also used to make gussets to strengthen the rear axle housing along with adding a strap along the bottom. These full size fords came with 2:72 rear end ratio unless they were limited slip with 3:25. The 3:25 we're good but I preferred 3:55. I loved the old galaxies sedans and station wagons. I had a 72 Country Squire with the police interceptor package along with the 429 that I had put a lot of time and money into, but was a lot of fun to drive. Ironically, that's one of the cars I miss the most.
I can't believe it, all of the new air suspension and no air horns.
You got a taker here on that 72 Broughan Marquis. lol My parents bought one in 72, and my friends and I had some pretty good excursions, and parties in that car. We'd crowd 7-8 people in that fancy boat. lol It didn't however, have 1100 horsepower. Heheee

@@767dag, stroker kit is 2000 from Eagle. Total engine build, depending on what block you use, stock or aftermarket, heads etc, probably 15k. Currie is getting 1900 for the rear with full locking diff. With cost of the car, fuel injection, engine build, air ride etc, at least 40k.

Well back in the day you would see a caddie in the hood all nice and shiny and the owner living in a pos house. Now this must be the new thing, A shiny new engine in pos body.
My ocd goes up seeing all those nice parts going on a rusty frame. I just couldn't leave that as is. Just couldn't
Guys,a Ford 9inch is PLENTY STRONG...you could have just updated the axles & rolled out. But with a Currie 9 its NEVER a bad thing. LoL also the addition or rear discs is a plus.
When you upload E13 part .... ? ?

The stock 9" rear end probably would have held up just fine for awhile , because both the rear tires are just going to smoke anyhow and never really hook up hard enough to bust anything. IMO The panhard rod mount on that custom rear axle looks kind of looks spindly looking and use some webbing around it.

First thing I noticed is all the filth !! Come on,,,, it’s such a cool car 👍
I really like this, it is very informative. I could do without the background screeeching though.
Thumbs Up on your video, I would love to own it if it didn't have rust.
So 11 second quarter mile and can take corners in a Marquis! Hillarious.
When are y'all gonna finish this car up
Thats a cool build.dont forget to tell us mpg !
Trz performance got the suspension
that little ad for the valance at the end gives me a question.. are there any good references as to the thicknesses of different sheet metal and frame parts on vehicles? like how thick a frame is on a 69 F100 or a quarter panel on a 65 mustang... or a frame rail or torque box on a 68 mustang.. I mean you can guess but are there any references that maybe some restoration parts company has put together so if you have to cut in a patch then its the right thickness and not a guess.
@6:43 looks like porosity on that endlink lol
Just wondering why the guys didn't clean up the underside of the Mercury?...crazy cool ride!
