Less engine harmonics and stress on the camshaft. On an engine that's gonna see mostly street use or occasional drag strip use would be fine with a chain. But an engine that's gonna live at higher rpm for extended periods of time benefits from the belt, for longevity. Not to mention it's easier to set and adjust camshaft timing.

If this car is a ‘73 then why doesn’t it have the 5 mph bumpers mandated for model year 1973? I say it’s a ‘71 or ‘72. Am I wrong here?

1973 still had the split bumpers. 1974 is when they went to the larger bumper you're thinking of.

When it is your project, no matter what it is, you can do whatever you want with it. Was this car "destroyed"? Hardly. Highly modified to do what they wanted? It looks like it was. If it was supposed to be a concourse restoration on a one-of-a-kind musclecar then perhaps they didn't do it justice.......but this was a pro touring type build with a nice foundation to start with. I'd really like to see the people who comment on how bad these builds are to show all of us others just how to really do something right by posting their builds on cars and engines. I'll wait.

Sorry can’t see why you did that to that nice of car. With all the frame modification, why not fine a crappy car that would have work just as well to road race. You can’t get the old car back now. What a waist.

Yeah, this was a bad choice. Once you make that many mods, there's no point using an original, mint-condition car as your base. This car should have been respected for what it was. There are other Camaros out there for this purpose.

I think the hood is ugly and the wheels are hideous. But that's subjective - my personal taste. What's not subjective is the horrible crime they committed by butchering such a well preserved survivor car. While I wouldn't have optioned a 1973 Camaro in that color or that vinyl roof, you have to honor that car and the people who no doubt spent a lot of time, money, and effort (and maybe love) keeping that thing together in that shape. If I was the guy selling it to them and I knew this was what they had in mind, I'd probably have to see an extra zero added to the selling price before I could part with it. And maybe not even then.
