Project ZL-70: Chevrolet Camaro - The House Of Muscle Ep. 7
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Imagine you just built what you thought was your dream car. But then, after driving it, you realized you were wrong - this is not good. While most people would have cried in their cereal bowl over this mistake, owner/builder Nick Relampagos did just the opposite by going full steam ahead into another project that would not only rival his expectations, but ours as well.

The owner seems like a real nice guy who built ( and had the funds through hard work) to build a real nice car. Good on him.
I truly can't believe my eyes. 97 people don't like this car?! What's wrong with you people??!!! I'm a Ford Guy, and this Camaro is one bad ass and well built machine. Great job on this build Man! It's bitching!!

Most likely jealous haters. It seems to be a popular trend to hate on someone that has something they want or someone doing something they want to do.

No its because he ripped off Mary Pozzi's '73 Camaro. Down to the color and carbon fiber and acted like he built a unique pro touring car. The Drive actually did a video on it and she explains in detail about how she developed the suspension with Hotchkis. This guy copied it and called it unique. For some reason they took it down from KZread and its taken off their website. Look up Mary Pozzi Camaro. She did it first and for some reason they made her disappear with no credit. It was also an incredible story.

@@stronglikebull2994 100% agree about ripping off Mary's '73 Camaro which to me is much nicer and sounds so much better when driven hard. She actually raced hers in autocross and won quite few championships with it. Probably why the video with her Camaro has been removed is because Mike is now doing videos for this channel and can't have him on competing channels reviewing cars.
It's amazing to me how many people can find so many negative things to comment, just sit back and enjoy the show. I remember being a kid and flipping the channels on the TV trying to find anything about cars to watch. Then when I was in middle school/high school, Hot Rod had a half hour show on Sunday afternoons. I'd have to bargain with my family to let me watch that instead of football. Let me say, I'm just happy to be here, no complaints from me! Keep up the good work, Mike, and keep having fun!
build an old car over any new car. You get noticed in an old car. IMO.

Lol... "Buy once, cry once". That's perfect.
ZL70 or ZL1? It's a golden age, when you can buy OR build such great cars.

You are so correct with that statement.
Man, once again your show takes me back to my teenage years. I had a 70 1/2, Z/28 that was such a rush to drive. It was set up for street light to street light. I remember the day I bought it, I stopped by the gas station where I worked. I was 17 and my boss was about 35. He was married with 3 kids. Most of his hot rod days were behind him. I told him to take it for a ride. He was gone for about an hour and when he returned I don't think I'd ever seen him smiling so much. I was glad that I could bring back that feeling that we all had with our first hot rod. That was an awesome day! I'm now 59 years young, and I can still see his smiling face! Thanks again Big Muscle!
This car is so badass, and Nick is such a great guy. I got the opportunity to ride in this car at LS fest, and I have a video on my channel about it. This car is incredible. I hope my project car is half as good as this thing when it's done lol.

315s IN THE FRONT WITH ON-ROAD FULL U-TURN CAPABILITY. FUCK YES. IT CAN BE DONE. Thank you Nick for showing us that this is completely possible.
Even in 2022, when the go juice is too expensive, rubber is hard to get, parts are made in China or stuck on a ship, etc. There will always be something special about hand building your own car over buying one at a dealership. Anyone can buy a car, not everyone can build one. That is what separates the car enthusiast from the every day drivers out there. Beautifully done 70 SS in this video, really enjoyed that one. Thanks Motor Trend, keep'em coming!!!
Whats even more amazing that this beautiful car is the fact this man built it from a shell...Kudos to you sir. Awesome machine.
That '70 camaro is damn sexy 😍💦💦

70 Camaro RS/Z28 Obviously, what's your point? I'm saying that even if it looks like it has the Z22 option today, it doesn't mean it's an original.

Narmacil427 Oh I understand that, I never agreed to it being original by VIN number, I was just saying it had a Rally Sport fit front end. From how clean it looks, I’m assuming either it’s a kit or it’s true, considering you can’t tell A: if it’s a Z28 or not. Or B: it’s a flat Rally Sport since it’s missing the tags.
I always enjoy watching Mike. He truly has passion for muscle cars
Please bring back Big Muscle! It was the best automotive show on KZread.
What a great freakin build this man has built well thought out beautifully executed. Nick Relampagos you are a master craftsman, having a game plan and the research, nicely done. It is so smart to purchase of all the right parts, once is genius. Buy once, cry once now that's a mantra to live by. I absolutely love the integration of the carbon fiber pieces both raw and painted. The drivetrain sounds insane, I know it's a race/street car I would definitely have to have a softer suspension set up my back and kidneys would be screaming. Well done Mike Musto and House of Muscle
Built not bought, awesome story, amazing Camaro, a truly great video, thank you.
12:50 No doubt it is a superior track car, but it's hard to believe Musto's assertion about its comfort on the street when every single interior shot of him driving looks like he's in a drink shaker. I believe what I see....that's what I saw. Awesome car though.

To be fair, the road we were on was quite rutted. On a normal street or on the highway the car rides beautifully.

Mike you might want to clarify a normal California street. In Indiana you couldn't drive that car more than 10 feet or over 10 mph without shaking your titties off :)
That's one of my favorite muscle cars ,hard to improve on the looks, but he was able .great job, excellent choice of powertrain.
wheel set up for me is the most impressive part, amazing car and build!
Absolutely Fabulous ! Mr. Nick Relampagos my hat is off to you Sir ! You have truely built a ultimate street machine. Bravo.

We have a second gen Camaro it's a 76 and it is just gorgeous. Look for the car for close to 6 months. Found it and bought it on the spot 305 with a 4-speed dual exhaust black-on-black the car is amazing it's looks all over the place
SteamRoller tires!!!! omg I have not heard that term for decades! Love it. I'm not a chevy guy but DAM how can you not like the work and detail in this car?
This car is bad ass I have always loved these pro touring builds
Even though Nick is obviously a well rounded car guy, the knowledge that others were willing to share can't be overstated.
I’ve watch this episode three times. Once on motor trend twice on KZread. One you’re a classy dude. You’ve got the best job in the world. And at the very end when you talked about that turkey I laughed for about 20 minutes! Your friend and fan Tim

This car is sick AF
Work of art.
Wow. First the Mary P. Camaro, now this one. These cars have such beautiful lines. Congrats sir!
I've wanted to do up a 70 for a long time, injected 427 full roller, 6 speed, red with black stripes, proper suspension and brakes just shy of autocross requirements, more of a daily driver. thanks for the trip.
Bad ass episode!! Love mikes style and the way he makes these!!
Nice episode! Can't say I'm a fan of the Camaros in general but this build actually makes it look good. I mean, everything has been thought of, all details are there and that makes the car look likes it's supposed to look (and sound, nice rumble). Awesome job!
Beautiful 70 Camaro man and Chad Haire would be so jealous of this beautiful hot rod.
ive never been a big fan of ford or chevy muscle cars, but i do like the 70's camaros and 80's mustangs, i feel those are the only two body styles that really changed how the car looked, i guess i just get bored with most other versions but im glad he chose this body style over the other ones, as everyone and their mom has a 60's camaro, and before you ask yes, i am a mopar guy
zl 70 is the right name, right down to the hood shaped like 14 zl1 cool car.
House of muscle was the best. I miss it so much.
AWESOME CAR... Reminds me of my first car a 1980 camaro 305ci in okay shape all blue with flakes paint. Off course they are way too different cars but I was 18yrs old at the time and I was forced to sell the car by my father, jealous guy. lol... I always loved the looks of the open grille two piece bumper. I hope to build one some day, like you have but more for personal use daily driving. I am 27 now, a husband a father of one and just started on a 92 GMC Sierra single cab hoping to make 600whp work truck...
What a beautiful car. Well done.
Beautiful Build!
Oh it’s SO BEAUTIFUL
This a real motivation for someone like me to build a car this extraordinary 😍great work
I never thought he'd create this and for this guy to have his car showcased on MTC
Great, great job! The car looks fantastic.
What a beautifully executed and well thought out car, every component and design cue just fits even the slightly recessed front grille... subtle and a testament to one man’s vision! I would not change anything other than a little bit more of a softer ride, at my age I would need a kidney belt judging by how Mike Musto is bouncing around in the interior shots.....but it is a race/street car so you gotta compromise a little comfort for performance. Well done!
I just bought a '72 a month ago. Love your car dude!
Oh, this is my favourite Camaro. Had an A/FX Z28 that I loved as a kid. Split-bumper looks great.
awesome build
Nick great build, beautiful car.
Awesome build👌🏾what a guy U've got to watch dis y'all👍🏾
love this i miss my 72 sooo much
Best show yet guys
Beautiful Camaro! Live your dream brotha...
thanks Mitchell for posting another muscle car video☺
If Chevrolet had used this body style and kept it to scale they'd be heads up with Mustang sales now. It is a much better style than the box they ended up with. Nice car.
great build!
looks amazing
Great build!!!! blood, sweat and tears.👊
Spectacular!!!
Great episode! Mike drops gems as usual.
Awesome car!!

Man you did this car right, awesome job!
Nice build!
I haven't watched this video yet (still at work) but wanted to comment: Thank the V8 muscle Gods Mike Musto has a new video on KZread, and it's a healthy 15 minutes plus. Can't wait to get home to watch it fully.
This right here is a beautiful machine
When people want to know if your car is fast, its easy to quote a horsepower number. That's great for a straightline--tho power to weight is even better, as the Chevelle pointed out. But if you want to run in circles looking for the finish line, then cornering is where its at--you keep the average speed high. But people can't translate brakes and A-arm designs into a speed number. I like this video because it also pointed out the difference between a stiff Pro Touring suspension, and a resto-mod suspension. The latter is nicer for a daily driver that you may want to drive con brio. The stiff Pro Touring is great for a racetrack car you may drive to the race track.
Love your final thoughts.. I built not bought mine the acknowledgement at shows and roll in's says I made the right decision.
I've still got my first car. it's a 1970 Plymouth Duster 340 that has been waiting for a resto since I was in my mid 20s. I'd love to make it a track car for autocross. Nice build!
what a beautiful car!!!
It appears to be a very well sorted package. Very impressive for the home builder, impressive for the professional builder. Plan a project and work through it. Bravo!
Those early 70s Camaros are amoung the sexiest cars ever made. I would sell my mom for that one
Such an awesome car! If only I could have found out about it one month earlier. Motor Trend should take notice! I'd be willing to pay my hard earned money to view videos just like this before they are posted to KZread if such a service existed.
Watching House of Muscle casually, as the card says, "Want more Roadkill?"
This Camaro is gorgeous and Badass to the bone.
Favorite generation of Camaro right here. Yes, things are definitely better the second time around.
So this is where Mike went! Been missing the old muscle videos from Drive. Time to catch up on 7 episodes!
A '70 Camaro is just beautiful. Nicely done. Great hanging with you at the ZL1-1LE launch at Area 27 track in BC, Canada, Mike!

love this show
Damnnn she's a beauty. Never thought I would say that about that gen camaro
Man! I love this video. I have a 71 Chevelle and you gave me plenty of ideas. American Muscle Cars are the chit.
I set up a great plan for my 260z restomod.... changing my mind about little things almost every day
Great video. Great car.
I love that style of Camaro's with the split bumper it's a sweet style
I parked next to this car at the 2016 dream machine show. Its cool!
Love the sticker on the rear spoiler! got one of those myself from the great Mary Posey!
That's one gorgeous machine...
Awesome show Mike! Keep it up!
I love it, such a cool car. In cab mic could be a little louder but great episode, just like every other one. Cant wait for more.
When I was a kid i dreamed about having a car like that one its beautiful.
That car is amazing
Very nice hood design
I've never been that big of a fan of the 2nd gen Camaro, but HOLY EFFIN SHNIZZLE PIZZLES... THIS one is VERY well and tastefully done! I really like how the tubs were upholstered. Major props to the owner on a job well done!
