When recovering your vinyl seats, turn your new vinyl seat covers inside out, put your new seat covers in a pillowcase, tie the end the pillowcase so the seat cover can’t fall out of the pillowcase and put it in the dryer for about 10 minutes or so. The heat of the dryer will soften the vinyl and make it much easier to slide down over the cushions etc. Just don’t leave them in the dryer too long or you and melt them.

Limelight is a pretty kewl project that most guys can get behind. Like the gauge cluster you guys put in. I would have put black interior, but it's interesting that you went with the saddle color, which is not what most people would have done. Looks better than I thought it would. Gonna be great to see this one done and hear it run!!

Sand headliner bows and paint them, the loops that bows go in is called listing, pull front and back, then sides, drag fingers on seams from middle to each side while pulling edge with other hand, at some point you will have to cut edges of listing so you can keep stretching headliner, drag razor against bow, don't cut toward stitching or will have a kink in seam

I think they should have kept the interior black too. I'm very leery of how well and long that dye will stay on. To me dyeing only makes sense if you are applying it over the same color where it has faded. I would also be suspect of the quality of that reproduction gauge cluster, I would probably opt to restore the original one and just add the other gauges. I like everything else.

David, I was a member of SCCA and worked the first aid at mid ohio race track in late 60s to early 70s. During one bad rain storm I got shelter in a large truck with Mark Donohue and Roger Pensky. Mark was the nicest , most polite guy you could ever meet. He was fun to talk with and polite to everyone. Roger was a complete, total jerk! Also Grumpy Jenkins should have been called Asshole Jenkins . Big time jerk!

@@oldfirefighter2887 - I met David James Donohue (and Margie & Karl Haas) in Vancouver when we used to host the Molson Indy Vancouver (1990-1991?)- Margie was blown away that I had the exact same name and said "Karl look at this", he grabbed David and introduced me. They were all super nice. I bumped in Bobby Rahal, and in passing said "Hey my mom is your biggest fan!" - He waved me over to his paddock, pulled the visor off his helmet that he had just used for the practice session, signed it with a sharpie, and handed it to me. MY mom freaked out when I gave it to her(it's still on her office wall) I also met Willy T Ribbs, and he pulled me over the rope to let someone take a picture of us together in front of his car. Most racers appreciate that their fans are paying their way.

Just a guess but $30k since the car even in rough shape was probably $15k. And a lot of sweat equity. The paint is probably the hardest part since most of us don't have a paint booth at the house. Body, engine, wiring and interior can be done in your garage. Just not paint if you want it to be nice.
