Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today we find out if the new 70-81 Camaro Carbon Fiber 2.5" Cowl hood from Anvil Auto will fit my car. I made what I am calling bad choices heading into paint and we're going to have top deal with them starting now.
Product:
- Anvil Auto 2.5" Cowl 70-81 Camaro Hood - bit.ly/3rLNWE0
Review Highlights:
Pros-
- Good Carbon Fiber weave
- Great underside finish
- Fitment measure to factory sizing
Cons-
- Not factory sized mounting bolts

I just ordered a formula fiberglass hood from Anvil for my 73 firebird, won't get for about 6 months as well. Good to see that the fit is good. That was my biggest concern.

Yeah I feel your woes. I had to swap one of the fenders on my 68 Camaro when I restored now 15 years ago, and it was alot of fitting before paint to get the gaps right. Luckily it had a factory Super Sport hood to help with the lines. Also just did a 68 Chevy C10 and converted it from a long box to a short box and went with an all new bed and it was over a weeklong mess of getting bedside and tailgate gaps fitting well. Aftermarket metal or fiberglass takes alot of tweaking.

I went with a all metal cowl hood. Dont remember where I ordered it from. Its been a few years. But I did have to have lots and lots of welding and body work done to get that hood to fit properly. I have pics of the whole process. So from what I can tell the cowl is not functional. But it was hard to see from the video. Looking forward to the hinge video as I hate the factory hinges. The ones I have are new but I like yours much better. I just put over 60K into her because of all the extremely custom body work I had done.

@@Lethalgarage Yea, I understand. Wish I could post pics here but... Yea, I dont see any choice but to put strips and bond them to the edges to fill those gaps then lots and lots of fitting and sanding. Well at least thats another video for you to do.

I've seen where others have had to cut the front panel down and reweld the mounting tabs on. If you are going to paint the hood you may need to do this to where you can paint both at the same time. Maybe try reducing the width even and try that route.

I bought the same hinges. Money well spent. People walking by at shows see the hinges before they see the motor. When I walk by and see nice hinges, I know that person gave a shit...that draws me in to see the rest of the car.

Great build. I just ordered Anvil’s Carbon/fiberglass hood for my firebird. Has your hood held up? Did you use any insulation on the underneath of the hood?

I order some of those hood hinges on February 1 a vid on them would be great. I call to see who long it would take to get them. End of March they are out of dampeners.

Really strange I bought a replacement hood from national parts Depot fit right on very good quality no welding or anything like that required I'm surprised to see some of the horror stories people have had?? Gaps in my opinion were better than the stock hood

Trolling…which wanna know how much clear a stock 73 Camaro hood/cowl has to play with for a new induction systems. I do not want to change my hood.

This always happens, different parts fitting together are not going to mesh perfect. you got big uns for painting before hood fitting. was wondering how you were going to do that with fiber hood. Paint sides, that does it. that'll work. Shoulda went with the RS front from anvil? I got the RS front and stock hood :) It will all come out fine, blending a 1/2 or 3/4 on side with fiberglass and painting it will not show who cares. Also I think the hood finish looks great finish wise on top. would not mess with it.

Hey Matt, I live near you in Lake Elsinore. I need to fit my hood as the driver's side near the windshield is too high on my '73 Z28. Can you see if Steve and Craig are open to the public for body fitment?

I just can’t wrap my head around why someone would spend thousands of dollars on a lightweight hood if it’s not going on a track car. Sure, they look cool but there are tons of performance things that can be done for the price of one of these hoods.

Clearance was my main motivation followed by its unique stylings and curves. Best part is the price also means, not many others will have it.

@@Lethalgarage I can respect that. I’m building an 81 Z28 pro-touring car with a Borowski racing LS3. I would love to have a carbon fiber Sunoco hood so I could run the FAST LSXHR intake but I’m just going to use the standard height Fast intake so I can fit it under a steel cowl hood. I’m actually getting the body blasted next week and going to spray it with SPI epoxy primer.

Hey man. I like your videos. Whenever I search for something Camaro related I always end up watching your videos. I'm restomodding my -75LT into a 70-73 mashup. With the same rear spoiler as you. Sending it off for paint soon. Nice to see your progress and get inspired to keep going myself. If you're curious, search #HoneyBadgerCamaro on Facebook to see my progress.
