Worst thing is to also talk to somebody that’s applying logic when you’re in an emotional state. They are clueless, I hate when somebody asks if you’re seeing a therapist. That is a stupid thing to ask in that moment.

I have always been skinny. My mom keeps telling me that since I was about 4. A few weeks ago, I wasn't eating well because of stress and becaus eI sprained my ankle and I couldn't walk (less effort->less energy consumed->less food needed-> I don't eat so much. Makes sense, right?). My mom started again with "you are so skinny" so I snapped and told her everything. I told her how I ussually actually eat a lot (to the point were my sister gets angry because I eat all the pasta and there is nothing left for dinner). I said that it is not my decision, that I don't like it either but there is nothing I can do. She just replied with "no, it's your decision not to eat". She and my sister also laugh about what I suppose is social anxiety (well, i check almost all of the simptoms psych2go showed in videos, but I didn't go to a therapist yet) saying that "I am afraid of people".

@@dariancomsa7204 That's tough. It sounds like your mom and sister are not very supportive, do you have friends who support you? Anyone you can talk to? I don't know you in person, but you can talk to me if you want and I will try to be supportive and help however I can. :) I know how it feels, not exactly the same situation, but to have a problem or mental illness and feel like there is nothing you can do about it and no one understands.

Its because they dont want to burden the people that they love. Just check in on them, tell them these things, maybe if they feel a bit better they will reach out. We need patience and love for them🙂🙏💞

Like Drei said, it’s because they don’t want to be a burden. Let them know that they aren’t a burden and that’s you love them, and that’s you’re there to help. Reassurance helps a lot :) they might not come around at first, but just keep reassuring them that you’re there and they’re not a burden to you.

I was in a relationship where the person was always depressed, but after a while it appeared it was something he truley wanted to embrace. Because it got him much sympathy and attention. People would take ownership for him and practically enable his self sabotage. It can be very tricky to tell if a person; who is truley depressed, wants to get out of it, but doesn't know how to explain it or even know someone they can trust enough to reach out for help w/o being judged, weak, and not taken serious Vs. A person who makes a career from it & does it simply to draw in caring people to exploit and milk the cow dry.

Sometimes is better avoiding to engage a relationship with someone depressed, you don't know what they are going through and maybe you would be a weight for them. Let them heal by theyr own way, you can't do much to help them.

The best thing you can do at the very least is listen to them when they are at their lowest and be there for them as a shoulder to lean on and to confide in, even if you don’t exactly know the right things to say.

Yeah. I’m not exactly good with words in general, especially with loving, affectionate and caring words.

This reminds me of one of my online best friends. She's been suffering depression and I always tell her all of this. One time, I told her "I know you're strong and you can fight this off" and she was so happy to hear that, since nobody has told her that. I want her to know that she's not alone and all of us can help her.

I have tried a lot of these with a depressed friend. He now depends on me so much it drains me of all of my energy. I’m constantly worried and it’s so overwhelming to hear everything he has to say. I think it's important to put yourself first. Be there for your friend, when he/she needs you, but not more than you can bear. You're no professional and it's too much to ask for to fill that role

Set boundaries and help them build a good support system. A good church or group can help with this. Be clear with them that you still want to help them, but your only human.

I recommend doing things like baking with them, paint with them. Encourage them to journal and have hobbies. It’s not fair for him to put all this on you. He needs to get help and sometimes they don’t believe a therapist will help. But a journal can record thoughts and maybe not put it ALL on you❤️

I think it’s good for SUPPORT. kinda like helping someone up. But carrying someone is a different thing. Depression does need self evaluation. It’s NOT his fault. But only he is in his head. He’s the main one who has to seek help and want change🙁 I’m sorry he’s going though that, and I’m sorry you are too❤️ depression is very treatable. Maybe showing him how treatable it is will change his mind

It wasn't your friend. I've realized that when people starting leaving me when the most l needed them, some are staying, checking up on me.

I needed this. I don't know what depression feels like but I've got a friend who's feeling like this. I've been careful and supporting to her all the way, telling and doing these things.

its ok to be you in the moment im not your enemy i wont judge you or hate you when you tell me something and I will take your words for what they are now and you dont have to give a description so i understand i will always atleast try to get you your point your mind your ways your thoughts your ideas everything you dont have to expect me to say anything or disagree or agree with you there are no limits to you you can trust me with your mind your thoughts your ideas you dont have to hold back with me or hide your true self no edits needed or wondering whither i will like it while overthinking away its incredible thats not an order its a choice yours you can be whatever you say you are and i accept what you will become what you are now and who you choose to be is ok and easy for me to that while you can dont get stuck or caught in a loop because thats how you become lost how far are you willing to go to find out how much faith can help you soar to higher places as much as you let One thing that makes me really happy is being told "Im so proud of you" Im never really told it so..

For me, it helps to be specific. Like, "I care about you," while helpful, leaves me asking why you'd care about me, y'know? Like, if you say, "I care about you, it's fun to listen to your view on something, and I look forward to conversing with you," then I'll feel absolutely unstoppable, and I'll remember it. It'll also encourage me to talk more in the future, which is something I tend to struggle with. Of course, don't lie, if your gonna say something like that, it should be genuine, but for me, at least, compliments help me see that maybe I'm not as bad as I think I am. It helps me get a sense of actual reality, which is also quite nice. Don't know if this is useful, tho. It's just from my experience.

Being specific probably helps because it feels like they aren't just making a generally used compliment - they actually put thought into how they think about you and are sharing it not to just to make you feel better, but to really convey their thoughts that are informed because they actually took time to understand you. He will not force you to choose Him, He would rather you choose Him out of your own free will, but there are eternal outcomes to our decision) 'God saved us not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy...' (Titus 3:5) 'Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.' (1 Peter 1:3) Jesus Christ left all the glory of heaven and came down to earth through the vehicle of the womb of Virgin Mary. When the Holy Spirit came upon her, she conceived, even though she was never with a man. Jesus Christ was Fully God, Fully Man. Jesus Christ lived 33 years on earth. God loves man (whom He created) and this necessitates the Son of God, Jesus Christ, to be the sacrifice to reconcile man back to God. It pained God the Father immeasurably, but it was the Only Way. That is the immeasurable extent that God loves you, wants you and values you! 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' (Romans 3:23). But God the Father raised Jesus from the dead after 3 days! PRAISE GOD! He is now seated at the right hand of God the Father in heaven. HE IS RISEN! HE IS ALIVE! I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF JESUS! 3 YEARS AGO, ONE MORNING WHEN I JUST WOKE UP AND MY MIND WAS STILL BLANK, I LITERALLY HEARD A VERY KIND VOICE SAYING TO ME 'HELLO, CHILD OF GOD!' IT WAS INSTANTLY THE RECOGNIZABLE VOICE OF JESUS! THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND ME OR IN THE HOUSE! its ok to be you in the moment im not your enemy i wont judge you or hate you when you tell me something and I will take your words for what they are now and you dont have to give a description so i understand i will always atleast try to get you your point your mind your ways your thoughts your ideas everything you dont have to expect me to say anything or disagree or agree with you there are no limits to you you can trust me with your mind your thoughts your ideas you dont have to hold back with me or hide your true self no edits needed or wondering whither i will like it while overthinking your own soul i wont attack it everything you can say will not be looked over or minor but noted all the things you tell me i wont forget no matter what you say it can be anything i wont push that away its incredible thats not an order its a choice yours you can be whatever you say you are and i accept what you will become what you are now and who you choose to be is ok and easy for me to embrace and hear know and see for what it is everything you do is incredible as long as its you you are grand in all ways and i just cant get enough of seeing you for who you are just in case no ones told you that i would you to know your worth Just know to always take your time and normal is fine dont feel rushed by anyone or anything you dont have to hold back on saying things its ok to be you in the moment take your words for what they are now you dont have to worry simple is ok Its ok to be normal the soul defines you always so no matter what you feel or become your soul will always be with you just believe you may feel something in your body saying no but you know who you are trust it and have faith in that without your body what do you have a soul what does your soul need thats here on this planet what do you have to do be what do you have to lose is it important to your life or anothers do you have any regrets what is there to remember cant you feel what do you have to prove without your memories are you stuck you can forget it all one day but the very thing you’ll still have is your life so no matter what happens it will be with you that just goes to show you your worth your life wasnt a mistake and it goes how far you take it so why hold back its ok to be normal have a bad or good day or night and its enough because your still here with us so please for a i know i have nothing else to say i just write i can edit take my time come back at anytime i misspell misplace words alot of the time but i do try my hardest to go over it anything you do whenever you find yourself mispelling or misplacing its ok to mess up your fine just the way you are so when you look in the mirror at yourself whenever just know thats your face and there is nothing wrong with it dont doubt it please you dont have keep a guard up accept yourself and embrace yourself anything you say you are worthy one of kind and amazing so please dont try to hard its not a schedule live your life in the moment its ok to start over from scratch you can create great things from your honesty the more you do the less you notice be natural it”ll come im sure dont give up on the path that was given to you I only speak with reflections of myself so its true i cant help i can only give you a push and you must do the walking on your own but we are not that far from the air we breathe that while you can dont get stuck or caught in a loop because thats how you become lost how far are you willing to go to find out how much faith can help you soar to higher places as much as you let The world needs to watch this video. People do not know how to respond to depression and who blame them? Depression is something hardly anyone is familiar with and this video can be something that really helps people understand how they can help their peers, friends and family.

(John 3:16) (Eternal life with Jesus in heaven / paradise versus eternal hell and damnation for all who reject Him. 'God saved us not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy...' (Titus 3:5) 'Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.' (1 Peter 1:3) Jesus Christ left all the glory of heaven and came down to earth through the vehicle of the womb of Virgin Mary. When the Holy Spirit came upon her, she conceived, even though she was never with a man. Jesus Christ was Fully God, Fully Man. Jesus Christ lived 33 years on earth. He healed the sick, caused the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the lame to walk, cast out demons, even raised the dead! Jesus Christ chose to suffer and lay down His life for you and I on the humble wooden Cross, for our sins (moral wrongdoings eg lies, stealing, selfishness, unforgiveness, hate, jealousy, greed, lust, adultery, murder etc etc). This is so that Man can now come freely to God to HisThrone of Grace to receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. God loves man (whom He created) and this necessitates the Son of God, Jesus Christ, to be the sacrifice to reconcile man back to God. It pained God the Father immeasurably, but it was the Only Way. 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' (Romans 3:23). 'For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Romans 6:23) HALLELUJAH! Jesus Christ was brutally tortured, given stripe after stripe on His bare body using the Roman whip with ferocious hooks attached to the whip, that clawed out His flesh until He could see His own bones, and no sliver of flesh was left. He became so disfigured His face knew no form. He was spat upon, mocked at. When the time came for Him to depart earth, He said 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.' ( Luke 23:34). He had no bitterness. He was at peace. Jesus Christ became obedient unto death, even death on the Cross! The worst form of punishment of that time. It really depresses me more when someone says 'lets not talk negative and look upon the positive points'🙄. I'm like hey atleast listen to what I am going through in my head😣. Fact is, most people dont want to listen to any negative feeling or sadness that you're going through, people are so selfish that they fear the "contagion" of depression and hence they avoid anything related to depression or anyone going through depression.

omg same. They just say i am fine and that I am completely normal. I feel so depressed and i feel like the only thing i really care about and love with all my heart is my dog. God can i not wait to get out of my parents' house. So glad i ain't the only one feeling this way.

Im not sure what you can do I understand you I feel terrible right now and am crying but I think you should talk to some friends or someone else try to join online depression servers and try to stay strong I know it’s hard and easier said then done I’m sorry I’m currently going through this as well I can’t give good advice but try to talk to someone

In some countries there are telephone hotlines ,100%discreet your parents wouldn't even need to know you contacted them, they might be able to point you in the right direction or ( not a churchgoer myself) maybe talk to a priest they sometimes have programs running and they too are bound not to tell hope this was helpful best wishes to you🌸

Literally started to cry watching this since i’m finally realizing i’m severely depressed… 😰 Schools always been hard for me and that’s only made my academic anxiety and depression worse and I’m top of that, I have severe social anxiety and have no confidence in myself whatsoever, not to mention that I am extremely dependent which only makes it that much worse for me since it feels like I’ll never be able to live on my own and take care of myself. I can’t even look for a job and keep a job & the idea itself is terrifying on its own.. After getting out of a rocky college quarter and seeing some people I sorta knew graduate, it doesn’t help either that I feel like I’m being left behind (This being in terms of both academics as well as my career and my social life). On top of that, my social anxiety has been getting a little bit better but because of the pandemic, I’ve been isolating for so long that it’s honestly now even awkward to talk to my close friends and even my family at times… :( Honestly it feels like I have so much to deal with that it’s honestly too much to deal with and I don’t even want to deal with it anymore since what’s the point of even trying if I already know it probably won’t work since I’ve had plenty of bad experiences in the past in terms of all of it… I’m not suicidal, but I feel like I’ve given up on life and this just made it hit that much harder sadly 😢 I’m so lonely…

Hey ^^ I'm so sorry to hear that you are hurting so much :( I myself have (diagnosed) depression, anxiety, had agoraphobia and was quite the opposite of independant. Becoming independant is really tough, but if you can find none-toxic people who you can trust, don't hesitate to talk to them and to ask for help. Also, I don't know if you can afford it, but hypnosis can help a lot with social anxiety and that kind of stuff ^^ As for the work, I don't know if it will help, but if having a planner doesn't help you with deadlines, I find it really helpful to have an agenda, and a white board cut in 2 columns (Urgent / Not Urgent) and 2 lines (Important for me / Not important for me). You can write your work, list for the grocery store or even the fact you wanna go to the park with someone ^^ A really efficient life hack! Anyway, I hope this comment can come to hand for you, and I wish you the best for the future. Hope good people will be there for you, because that's one of the best remedies ;) Sometimes it gets really tough, but let's keep fighting ;)

As a person who suffers with depression, I can confirm (at least for me) that these things mentioned do and have helped me along the way. Videos like this are why I'm subscribed. One of the most important things about being a supporter of someone with depression is to *be patient* and understanding, *not condescending.* Thank you for educating us all Psych2Go!

God loves you and wants you immeasurably. God says "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5) Jesus is a Friend who sticks closer than a brother. I’m kind of cracking up over the “I’m here for you “ because the so called friends who said that to me showed me in their actions that they were never there for me because they didn’t. After hearing that come from someone who sounded so sincere but never showed up gave me a new perspective. I’m not continuing a relationship with someone when it’s turned out to be one sided and I’m ok with it. I was diagnosed with depression a long time ago based on my family history and the events that took place with being abused not only by my own family but by employers and employees. @@Silasss I feel you. A lot of people told me that I have to love myself so that I can accept other peoples love. But that's a hard task if you don't see any reason why you should love yourself if no one else does. It's really hard.

I feel terrible. My bestfriend said shes been dealing with depression and I can just never know what to say, so at lunch its mostly just silence. I really want to help her.

I'm with a friend who's going through depression and i can't help but cry my eyes out whenever I'm with him. I wanna see him happy and i really want to help him.

I think telling someone with depression that you love them is also a big leap. People with depression often think nobody (or at least, just very few) loves them. So if a friend of yours tells you they're suffering from depression, hug them and tell them you love them.

maybe I can use some of these on myself so that I’ll stop hating myself for having depression and I’ll finally allow myself to feel validated in my suffering

It’s hard to try to help someone who is dealing with depression when u are already depressed but I’m trying my best 😔♥️💙

Thank you so much for this video, I worry so much for my friend, so I want to be as supportive as possible. I've been trying to be more open about how much I care and listing of reasons I think she amazing. She gotten out of a particular bad period, it's so uplifting to see her set goals and fight for them. It's been a step learning curve to figure out what to do and how to help, but it's all so worth it. So if anyone is feeling frustrated or hopeless trying to be supportive, just take a breather and get up. We all find it hard to be strong, but there is no more rewarding feeling than to successfully help your friend. Never give up, champ, that goes to you people that's depressed to, alright, don't beat yourself up for feeling what you're feeling.

thank you !!! my friend is dealing with alot right now and i dont know what to do... i keep telling her to tell her parents to get a therapist but shes afriad that they wont listen and theyll push her problems away cuz shes just a child so i want to do the best i can to help her till she can convince her parents... i send her memes talk to her about these and we work it out together... i hope she feels better some day, i cant bear seeing her like this

Just watching this video is makig me feel better. Hearing it from the people I care about in my life means so much when they take time to say it rather than just offering me practical advice (which is helpful but not always what I need to hear)

I sometimes talk to few of my closest friends when I feel sad, anxious or depressed, But the only person who said those things to me and understand me is my boy best friend/crush. I always feel depressed when I'm feeling severely hurt by someone or something that reminds me like a mistake that I regret making it from the past, Sometimes I hide those feelings to myself when I'm alone but when I'm with someone I let my feelings out. Lucky for me that I got my closest friends by my side, Now that I am able to tell them my negative feelings and problems

I started talking to this girl and I sensed that she's depressed. And I saw a video of this channel and shared the video with her. She confirmed and I offered to help. My point is thank you for helping me to understand her better

I really want to comfort my friends when they are in a depressive episode but I never know how. Thank you for this :)

I know someone who is suffering from this. I feel so sorry for her that she has to go through this kind of pain. And the antidepressant, the side effects of it, the long term effects are heart breaking. If only I can take away her pain. I want to be there for her, I want to hug her and tell her that someone is here for her, I want to shut the voice inside her head. But sadly she is protecting me from her pain, she is pushing me away. I pray for strength, patience and love. I hope everyone who is going through same situation will have someone who will be there for them, no matter what. We can do this! We can enjoy life again. 🙂🤗🙏💞

My best friend always seemed so sad and when we asked her what's wrong she always i just brushed it off and put on her fake smile, but lately she started opening up more about her problems but i don't know what to say or how to help her, she's the therapist friend of the group and she always helps us out and listens but now when she finally decided to open up, i just don't know what to do, im afraid i don't say something wrong, bad, hurt her or i don't know..i just want to be there for her and make sure she knows she's loved no matter what.

It’s been happening to me and my friend was so kind and helped me and I felt safe and brave when she said she cared and understands what I’m talking about :3

Thank you for making this video. I suffer from depression myself but have a difficult time knowing how to help the people I care about when they are experiencing depression. I want to help them and I don’t want to accidentally make it worse. So this video was helpful in that regard.

God loves you. God says "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5) Jesus is a Friend who sticks closer than a brother. 'God saved us not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy...' (Titus 3:5) 'Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.' (1 Peter 1:3) Jesus Christ left all the glory of heaven and came down to earth through the vehicle of the womb of Virgin Mary. When the Holy Spirit came upon her, she conceived, even though she was never with a man. Jesus Christ was Fully God, Fully Man. Jesus Christ lived 33 years on earth. He healed the sick, caused the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the lame to walk, cast out demons, even raised the dead! Jesus Christ chose to suffer and lay down His life for you and I on the humble wooden Cross, for our sins (moral wrongdoings eg lies, stealing, selfishness, unforgiveness, hate, jealousy, greed, lust, adultery, murder etc etc). This is so that Man can now come freely to God to HisThrone of Grace to receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. God loves man (whom He created) and this necessitates the Son of God, Jesus Christ, to be the sacrifice to reconcile man back to God. It pained God the Father immeasurably, but it was the Only Way. 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' (Romans 3:23). 'For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Romans 6:23) HALLELUJAH! Jesus Christ was brutally tortured, given stripe after stripe on His bare body using the Roman whip with ferocious hooks attached to the whip, that clawed out His flesh until He could see His own bones, and no sliver of flesh was left. He became so disfigured His face knew no form. He was spat upon, mocked at. When the time came for Him to depart earth, He said 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.' ( Luke 23:34). He had no bitterness. He was at peace. Jesus Christ became obedient unto death, even death on the Cross! The worst form of punishment of that time. I'm gonna say, I've been reminding my friends all of these things as often as I can and I think it's been helping them :) one thing I do to help others is thinking of what I would want someone to say in the situation. The happiness I've gotten by just seeing my friends get better has made me really wanna be a therapist. And it's helped me overcome some of my bad thoughts! If you know someone who is suffering with depression, please remind them these things often. Even if you don't know if they are suffering, ask them if they're okay and remind them these things! People hide issues often

Thank you so much!! I know lots of ppl around me who are depress. I wanna be always by their side because I care for them but I'm also afraid that I might say something that's not good to them so this rlly helped a lot. Thank you agaaain!

I've watched this vid for sooo many times.... now I hv someone who need those words and it really helpful to make their days even better.

My best friend is going through this and the way she copes with it is humour and I don’t know how to help, especially when we are in tier 4 because I can’t see her and she can’t get help. She dodges questions I ask like these with humour and I don’t wanna force her and make her feel worse. I rlly love her and because of this lockdown we have been drifting apart :(

1. Tell them you care about them 2. Tell them i am here for you 3. Tell them its okay to feel this way 4. Ask them what you can do what to help 5. Ask them if they talked to a therapist 6. Ask them if they need someone to talk to 7. Remind them that they can get better I am still waiting for someone to be there for me.

'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' (Romans 3:23). 'For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Romans 6:23) HALLELUJAH! Jesus Christ was brutally tortured, given stripe after stripe on His bare body using the Roman whip with ferocious hooks attached to the whip, that clawed out His flesh until He could see His own bones, and no sliver of flesh was left. He became so disfigured His face knew no form. He was spat upon, mocked at. When the time came for Him to depart earth, He said 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.' Did you try to reach out to them? Maybe they are just waiting for your text or call, as i am doing the same thing with this person, she is pushing me away. I dont know what to do, and when i dont text she might think that i dont care. I am texting her with random things but just 2 texts a day and not every day. Just letting her know that i am still here for her. 🙏🙂💞

Just keep one thing in mind while dealing with ANYONE. Be kind. Just be kind. Is it too much ? Just smile and appreciate their work. Is it too much , no ! You never know what anyone's going through so just be nice to everyone and see the magic that happens around you.

Can we have a video of what NOT to say to a depressed person? Some people just aren't aware that certain words that work for normal people doesn't help a depressed person, sometimes even make them feel worse. As a fellow person who suffers from it, would be great if people had more awareness of mental illnesses.

I have a friend with depression and i love her so much. I try my best to say the right things and I think she really appreciates what I say because she tells me I have helped her a lot. Sometimes I cry my eyes out feeling sorry for her, but I can never tell her this because I don't want her to think she's a burden.

I'm also very sure I'm depressed. I'm not diagnosed but I match the symptoms. I have a hard time reaching out because my region, and family, have a really strong stigma and poor grasp of mental illness.
