    Hello Amy, I have seen a lot of problem caused by alternators on the N62 engine. The failure is often over voltage spikes which can cause a lot of strange electrical problems. The alternator replacement is the fix for this situation :) Thanks for the comment!

    Hello, The only place I know that you can find a fiber optic loop would be the dealership. They do not cost much. This will onlly restore functionality if one of the control units like the TCU are the main cause. If the problem is the radio itself the loop will not correct the problem. But jumping each module is the best way to find the root cause.

    Hello, The most common failure is the radio head unit itself with this type of problem. You can try jumping out each control unit with the lollipop to help but it sounds like a radio problem. The radio is the master of the system and fiber optic bus.

    Hello, The brake booster is due to oil from the vacuum pump that can cause the booster to fail. The battery cable recall is just a bolt that connects the battery cable power to the starter and alternator that can corrode. No modules involved in the battery repair. This would not effect the body components but it would for starting and the alternator. It is still a good place to start.

    You can definitely purchase the loop from the dealer. The loop is very easy to install. In some cases it just plugs right into the fiber optic part or you need to slide the fiber optic plug out of the connector by pressing on a small tab. If you do jump the amp out you will not have audio but other you will restore your screen operation. BMW will be able to program the amp and code it as long as it does not have an internal error. The BMW programming station can prevent programming at times.

    Hi @AskTheCarExperts, thank you for this informative video! I have a 2007 E65 750i that makes a high pitched screeching sound in place of the gong, while simultaneously having nothing but static when switched to the AM/FM tuner. When I reset the MOST bus by pulling and reattaching the lollipop in the glove box, everything goes back to fully working condition and stays normal when removing/inserting the key. However, once the car sleeps, the problem shows up again as before. What might this be?

  • @AskTheCarExperts

    Your description sounds like it may be an amplifier or speakers. You can also jump out the TCU or other control units using the fiber optic jumper to help rule out the other components.

  • @AskTheCarExperts

    Hello Mohammed, The resets do point to a failing M-ask. If you can find a good used M-ask it should work. In most cases, when I install a new M-ask it works without programming. In a dealer setting it would still be programmed to the vehicle. Worst case scenario would be that you have to do the programming.

    Glad to help :) If you have the radio on with high bass does the speaker under the seat sound distorted as compared to the other side? You could try to swap speakers from left to right and see what happens. Or it is just feedback from a control module on the MOST bus.

  • @AskTheCarExperts
    @AskTheCarExperts10 жыл бұрын

    Sounds like a control module overheat. Try removing the side panels for the trunk left side. If you can install a heat sink fan to the module housings it may help.

    In comparison not many cars drive and feel as good as a BMW. But on the flip side repairs can be costly and you will run into problems from time to time. I have seen some BMW's only need normal maintenance and the same vehicle plagued with issues. Some failures also relate to region and temperatures. Leasing may be the best way to stay with BMW.

    @AKJeeper Not overly common with Mini Coopers. I have seen a few amplifiers cause distortions. The popping happens with the radio on and off? Does it sound more like radio crackle than a suspension noise or body flex? If you can send me the last seven of the VIN in my e-mail I will check your options but with H/K you should have an amp and that would be the component I would suspect along with the speakers themselves. :)

  • @AskTheCarExperts
    @AskTheCarExperts10 жыл бұрын

    SAT Radio also uses the MOST BUS so it would need to be fully operational and BMW would need to program. If there was any issue with a component module programming would not be possible until the issue was resolved. It might not be worth the investment.

    Do you ever come across R53 MINI Coopers with crackling/popping from the speakers? I've got the H/K system and occasionally the speakers (or at least, seems like the speakers) on my car would pop (usually taking off after backing out of the driveway). Sounds like the speakers in the rear are the ones that make the pop noise. It happens so sporadically and infrequently that I haven't had a chance to track it down.

  • @AskTheCarExperts
    @AskTheCarExperts11 жыл бұрын

    A problem like this takes some diag and swapping of parts. The front speakers are controlled by the radio, the rear speakers and subs by the amp. Most likely it is bad speakers. You can swap them side to side to help rule out if this is a speaker issue.

  • @AskTheCarExperts
    @AskTheCarExperts11 жыл бұрын

    You did find the problem :) But you need to trace it to the component that is not sending the light. It sounds like it may be your radio also called the M-ask which is the master of the system.

  • @AskTheCarExperts
    @AskTheCarExperts10 жыл бұрын

    Problems like this can be tough to solve. This may be an issue with the amp as it is on the most bus and is responsible for the sound output. Try unplugging and jumping out the amp with a loop and see if the gong sounds. If it does then this would mean the radio is controlling the gong and the radio or M-ask would be the problem. If you have no gong and no sound I would suspect the AMP.

    Hey there. I saw your post about the BMW ABS/BRAKE LIGHT ISSUE. The fix is replacing the alternator. I just watched a great video about it. Someone else mentioned replacing the ABS module first as a possible cheaper solution. Hope this helps. Sorry to hit you up here, but I'm unable to comment on your other posts.. :(

    If you jump out the CD disc changer and it restores functions then this will be the fix. If not then it may be the main radio M-ASK unit.

    In my 2003 745Li, the speakers (front and back) start crackling when the outside temperature exceeds approximately 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 degrees Celsius. I am located in Middle East ) and it goes dead in next 7-10 minutes of excessive crackling and popping. Also the Idrive is dead which means I can't use the dashboard and steering controls. In other words, cooler climate with low temperature than 35 degrees, this problem doesn't exist and no audio/video in summers.

    Hello Joseph, Usually these units last quite a long time but I have seen them fail. You should call BMW customer care and explain the failure. With your vehicle having low miles they may offer some assistence with the repair. The CCC is the master of the system so if it has failed the other components will not work.

  • @AskTheCarExperts
    @AskTheCarExperts10 жыл бұрын

    Unfortunately since the CCC is the master of the system it cannot be jumped out. Only peripheral modules can be jumped out like if the telephone unit was bad causing a loss of audio due to the vehicle having an amp on the MOST BUS it would allow the fiber optics to bypass the slave module.

    Can the fiber optic loop be purchased from BMW? If so, is there any special tool needed to install it? I suspect my amp has a fault. I have the technical ability to repair my Logic 7 amp, but want to trouble shoot the problem the way you have described in this vid. If the amp has a fault, and I repair it, will BMW be able to reprogram it? Like your vids alot.

    Hello, my question is also concerning crackling sounds in my 2005 745i coming from my front driver side mid-size speaker and the compact subwoofer (located under the driver’s seat). If the module has failed would this cause the crackling sounds and if it is not the module, where could I purchase replacement speakers (and not from the dealership)?

    I have whining sound on passenger side when starting 2006 BMW 750i. I removed the panel underneath the glove box. I restarted the car only to discover that the sound was coming from the large silver module underneath the panel. What is it and does this need to be replaced or is there a DIY? Thanks

  • @AskTheCarExperts
    @AskTheCarExperts10 жыл бұрын

    This sound like it could be more than one problem. The radio's are common to fail which would take out the radio,cd,dvd, and gps. You should have it checked at the dealer or a shop with a BMW scan tool.

    Hello @AskTheCarExperts, Your video was very informative! Do you think buying the Most Jumper lollipop will help an Idrive System, with both CD options greyed out on the menu screen? I believe the in-dash CD player is stuck, but the disc changer above the glove compartment seems to be working fine.

    I would definately take a look in the left side panel in the trunk. Especially if it is a convertible. Water can get in and damage the amp and the telephone module.

    That one needs to be in the vehicle for the loop to be complete but you can use it to show the dealer so they know what you are looking for or use the part number on it to find another one.
