I'm going to purchase 5 for my 75 gal, probably won't use it all. I've been looking for a cheap aquarium substrate that was black and I couldn't find any under $18 per bag and most were 15-20lb bags. I knew many of those substrates were for plant nutrients but I was going to have to use root tabs anyway. So glad I found this channel at the right time.

@@slim7406 1 bag is a lot, I can see 2 bags for a 55 gallon, and perhaps 3 for a 75. You'll get almost 2 inches of substrate. 5 will give you tons for other projects.

WOW!!!! Thanks for the info!!!!! I'm SERIOUSLY considering changing my 125 gallon tank to BDBS, but it's an established tank and I'm terrified I might lose some fish in the process. But I'm researching the crap out of it and I think I might pull the trigger after watching your video! (I will have to set up multiple tanks to temporarily house my fish which means I will have to let them cycle, etc.....). It will be a loooooong process, but after watching this I'm definitely up to the challenge. I know it will be worth it! Thanks for convincing me!

Thanks for being so helpful!!! I'm planning on setting up my aquarium some time soon, maybe after mothers day so i know what i can afford. I'll probably stick to one bag and just grab a 20 gallon aquarium and put some of that sand in my other 5 gallon which I've had for about 6 months, more or less. I've actually become extremely obsessed with fish lately. I'll set my aquarium up and wait about a month because I'm also planning on planting, and I should probably let my tank run for about a week before this. I also need my plants to get used to a new environment and grow good and healthy before I put any new fish in there. It will also give me time to gather some more money for some other things. Iv'e found out so much the last couple of nights and I can't wait to try out a sponge filter!!! (I talk a lot:)) but do you have any tips for a KZread channel I'm planning on creating?

I've been wanting to get rid of my normal mixed brown gravel as a substrate and have been eyeballing black colors. Having a 75 gallon, it gets expensive. I've also wanted a smaller substrate without worrying about plants floating up because it can't anchor well enough with the gravel. My undergravel filter helps roots stick once established and for nutrients, but again, want a change. Thinking of getting eco-complete as a base and bdbs as a cap to keep cost down. Thoughts?
