⛽👎 7 Reasons for high fuel consumption!!! and how to solve

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hello everyone today we will see the comon problem of high fuel ⛽ consumption on a car and how to solve it the problem.
Defective fuel injectors
If your fuel injectors are faulty and insufficient fuel is being injected into the engine, your car won’t run efficiently. A less efficient engine means increased fuel consumption.
Clogged air filters
Air filters and oxygen sensors ensure that the ratio of air and fuel going into the engine is correct for optimum performance. If they’re clogged or damaged, the ratio is affected, which can damage your engine and will increase the amount of fuel your car is using.
Faulty spark plugs
If the spark plugs in your car aren’t sparking correctly due to wear and tear or damage, it affects combustion. The result? Increased fuel consumption.
The wrong oil
If you aren’t using an oil that reduces friction or the oil recommended by the manufacturer of your vehicle, you could be paying the price with poor fuel economy.

Don't forget number 8. The cooling system consisting of the thermostat & ECU temp sensor. If the fuel injection computer thinks the engine is still cold it will run a richer air fuel ratio until the engine warms up fully. If thermostat is stuck open then engine will never fully warm up. Check thermostat by running engine from cold & feeling top radiator hose, it should stay cold until thermostat opens & then go to hot to hold. If hose starts getting warm slowly then thermostat is stuck open & needs replacing. Injection temp sensor,(thermistor), needs to be tested for correct reading,(resistance) when engine is warmed up. Also check wiring for sensor by measuring sensor reading from the ECU wiring plug.

I had cars ranging from 1.0 to 1.8 and Im always worried about economy but what I learnt shocked me abit. The 1.8 Civic I had was almost the same as the 1.0 Yaris. You would think smaller engines use less but my guess is that they require more revs to get going whereas bigger engines can achieve the same speed at lower RPM. Ofcourse there is a sweet spot ( probably 1.6/1.8 depending on the engine technology ) but there is not much of a difference like mentioned between big/small engines to a certain extent. Ignore those claimed figures, I have almost 20 years of real world experience on about 10 different cars and learnt these lessons.

They missed ALL items on my own list: 😃 1. Binding brakes. Even the slightest binding will give a noticeable increase in fuel consumption 2. Keep tire pressure at the highest recommended.. 3. Do NOT go to wider tires. And only buy tires with "A" or "B" rolling resistance classification (maybe that marking is only used in Europe? ) 4. Petrol engines (without turbo) use to have a temperature control valve on the intake of the air filter box, where warm air taken from the exhaust system is mixed with cold air to ensure a constant temperature. Nice thought but the thermostat in the mixing valve tends to get stuck at "fully warm" position over time. Engines tend to lose both power and efficiency when running on hot air. Worth checking 🤔 5. Incorrect toe setting increases rolling resistance. A setting as close to "0" as possible usually gives lowest fuel consumption 6. Clean aerodynamics. Remove all unnecessary stuff like roof racks, caravan mirrors, aftermarket spoilers and wind deflectors..

@@amirkhanahmadzai4963 Sorry if my suggestion to buy new car offend you. Money is very hard here also. Mileage of your car is also ver low compared to here in India. Instead of maintaining a high fuel consuming car, i have sold my previous car, downgraded to a cheaper car with better mileage. I think its more cost efficient. We poor people usually try to keep our car for the longest time although it has already started burning holes in our pocket.
