One more thing, ladies: don’t think that a man is more valuable or impressive than you simply because he has wealth. Remember that you have value and worth also. Don’t let anyone be demeaning or condescending towards you.

I cringed throughout because I know people who do this or have done this in the past. The key is humility and treating everyone as an equal, not trying to get whatever from someone. Thanks Myka, lovely video!

If a wealthy man makes his time to go on a date, expect you to split the bill at the restaurant, sending you email or card after the date for gratitude to test if you are a gold digger or independent or kind e.t.c 👉 he is a narcissist! Red flag 🚩 if his first test is not willing to pay, your first test should be he willing to pay. The man is always the one who has to prove first!

As always your advice is so wonderful. I feel we should never ask another whom we just met, “so what do you do for a living”? Let them open up about that as it can be a bit too intrusive. ❤

A huge no-no as well : if you try to boast about your ex , especially if it's been a C list or reality show celebrity, and end up talking on and on and on about him or her for ages, or even worse showing pics or youtube videos. You might get the reaction one of my friends got at a very chic, quiet restaurant to crown it all : the person just got up after the starters, thrrew on the table enough notes to pay for the bill, and added : " I've never played second fiddle, never ever will. Get over your trashy ex , don't waste fine men's precious time ! Adieu !". She was so ashamed, everybody had witnessed the scene, she left in tears. Needless to say she NEVER mentioned her ex on any date since.

Great video Myka. I personally think these tips apply to all people. For example I am not a high income earner by any stretch of the imagination. But I have had friends, strangers, associates ect ask/make these same inappropriate comments. Asking me what I do for a living, how much I earn, them ordering the most expensive thing/ just expecting me to pay for them, and the absolute worst for me personally, coming to my home filming my décor without asking ( such an invasion of privacy) wanting to touch all of my stuff, wanting to go through my wardrobe and asking me how much everything cost, literally everything, no seriously everything in my home! I am so much more careful now of who I invite over. Manners have nothing to do with income you can live in a shelter and display high respect for yourself and others , you could earn a lot and not have any manners, they can not be brought but they can be learned and developed for everyone. I wish more people worked on manners. I am a constant work in progress, and I am striving to better my etiquette. I cant wait to learn more from you, and the books I am reading.

When I was young I was sooo impressed with men of money. Now I have my own money and I’m not impressed. I’m impressed by someone with like interest or a talent I don’t have. Life is funny.

I grew up in the South (not from a wealthy family) and it was drilled into my head that "nice" people NEVER accept gifts of jewelry or clothing from someone they aren't married to or related to.

PLEASE do a video on how to stay elegant and classy with a newborn! To date, I don't believe anyone on YT has broached this topic.

I think that asking anyone, whether wealthy or not, what they do for a living when you first meet is rude. There are so many reasons why this can make anyone, from really poor to really wealthy feel uncomfortable (like if someone is in between jobs or just lost one, for someone who normally receives rude feedback [like for being a housewife], feeling sized up for how prestigious your job is/isn’t, for getting the same annoying comments-“you’re a lawyer?! You must be smart!”, etc.) There is so much more to talk to people about outside of their net worth. Maybe you already made this video, but it’d be nice to give people ideas of what they can talk about instead when meeting people. Thank you for your wonderful video, Myka. I love how you help us to be better🌹

Myka, this is really an informative video. Some of these mistakes would seem a little more obvious than others, such as asking how much an item costs (as if you're there to procure it) or taking photos (without consent)-- a definite turn off. Yet, other mistakes, as you've well said, aren't as well known. Thanks for bringing them to our attention!

I saw Spamalot years ago w/a friend and her "successful" date. As I went to buy the silly rabbit souvenir he offered to pay for it. I insisted no, but he insisted yes as I looked so joyful when I saw it ..so I gave in. 😂

Like do people actually ask someone to give them gifts? Wow. I approach going out for a meal as I am paying for myself whether or not I am. One never knows. Filming someone's house??? Seriously? I just can't even imagine doing this stuff.

My goodness! Just found you by the way, Mika and I love your channel! I just have to tell you I am dumbfounded that people actually make these kind of mistakes. I am from a very small town middle class town is Massachusetts and I cannot imagine being so clueless and rude. Yikes!

I have heard similar comments before about asking the person you are dating to buy you something. It stuns me that people would actually do that; I think it is beyond rude regardless of how influential a person is or is not. In fact, I feel that way about several of your suggestions.

One mistake is when people show that wealth is novelty. Act like that car, that restaurant, whatever, are nothing new to you.

I’ve caught my girlfriends filming a guys house for her Instagram story so so many times 😳😭 it’s so common. Anything for social media…

I’m not wealthy but I detest that question “what do you do for a living”. I feel like I’m being sized up and judged. So I just say “I’m a hooker” and that ends it rather promptly.

This is really a funny video to me. I grew up where you had to wait for a phone call to get asked out. Everything was done on the phone. There was no social media no computers.😊

If people didn’t already know all this, they shouldn’t be leaving the house

What is the best way to handle a situation where a wealthy man is in a boutique (that is way out of your price range)with you that you just strolled into on the street with no purchase intent. After you looked around a bit and are ready to stroll out he casually says, "did you see anything you liked?" or "aren't you going to get anything?" (First or second date situation)

As to posting pictures of somebody's property and possessions: on top of bad style it poses a safety issue. Criminals also use Instagram. And nobody appreciates friends who attract them to their property. 😂

One more thing: Name dropping is also a big no-no ladies!

You know, I'm not wealthy, but I find these things offensive to me. I always knew when they ask what do I do, they were trying to find out how much money I have. Just because you dress well, doesn't mean you have a lot of money. It just means you have good taste.

My opinion is that, I find this video and the comments being borderline and moving away from etiquette advices. It feels to me that many of the "setting"/questions described are valid only for USA (NA). In Europe, to the question "what do you do for a living" I would switch to an immediate "thank you and good bye" answer (not on the spot but very quickly the date would end). When it comes to ordering champagne, when and if it would be adequate, I would expect that my guest would wait to be prompted before selecting it. Cultural bias most likely.

Actually, these tips are common sense. Old money is never talked about, is taught to all growing up. The problem rears it’s ugly head when people with new money, nouveau riche, feel like they have to throw their money around and try to impress others talking about it. That is totally Bad Behavior.
