How Much Sodium Should You Have A Day?
In a previous KZread video, I gave you 10 high sodium foods to avoid. You want to be sure you check out that video after you finish reading this. After that video, I got so many requests. People were like Dr. Frita, you keep telling us what high sodium foods not to eat, but what are some low sodium foods we actually can eat? Hmm, good question. We'll answer it today. But first, let me tell you how much sodium should you have a day.
The foods I mentioned are the low sodium foods that I do want you to eat in order to fight high blood pressure and improve your heart health. And in order to learn more about these diseases that we're trying to avoid, make sure you check out my other KZread videos, check out my videos on high blood pressure, heart disease, and how to keep your kidneys healthy. All of these diseases are the things that we're trying to avoid by having a low sodium diet.

My husband recently had a heart attack so we both moved to a low sodium low fat diet it's not that bad we actually enjoy it we do have a cheat day here and there but since we've been eating healthier we noticed that we don't really like the take out pizza we once loved it's too much it's amazing how your body doesn't find fast food appealing anymore which is never a bad thing❤

@roygbivcreations5929 what kind of meals did you and your husband start making?
@roygbivcreations5929
2 күн бұрын
@@eternalparadisee we make everything we just are careful with the ingredients we use no salt seasonings and always try to use fresh veggies we eat salads for meals 2 times a week we read all labels if you want spaghetti get 0 sodium pasta use no salt added tomato sauce and paste I even made no salt no sugar homemade chocolate pudding it was yummy
Fresh Beets! Eat foods that look like body organs. Beets look like blood. Walnuts look like the brain. Carrots cut in circles look like eyes. Kidney beans....fresh lemon juice in purified water. A clove of garlic a day. Apple a day. Local honey. (Honey with yogurt and fresh fruit.) My mother's cook books pre 1960, uses honey not sugar. Thyme, rosemary and pepper is an alternative to use instead of salt.
If I lose all sense of taste and smell--including the difference between sweet and bitter--I will eat for health. Until then, please pray for me.
Thank you Dr. Frita!!!! I have been watching and following your videos AND listening to my doctor. My blood pressure has been high for perhaps the past year. After taking the sodium out of my diet, exercising more and drinking more water, my blood pressure reading was 119/68!!!! Thank you so much

I stopped eating processed foods, I concentrate on feeding my microbiome, which includes no salt except from fermented foods. Within 3 months I was able to stop BP medication
I think it's important to mention that you have to avoid grapefruit if you take certain HBP medications such as atorvastatin

Not just that, but you should also avoid salt substitutes like Nu-Salt if you are taking atorvastatin or lisnopril.

Atorvastatin is a statin medication which is taken to lower cholesterol levels in the blood. It’s not a blood pressure medication FYI

Thanks Dr for this information
It's all well and good that you point out fresh fruit and veggies. Unfortunately most people who have HBP would have a difficult time paying for these foods. Many people just can't do what you suggest, and many more were raised to eat fast easy box food.
Excellent. Thanks a lot.
