Stephanie! It was love at 1st sight when I came across your gorgeous face and videos some months ago and subscribed immediately. But I soon realized I am not your target audience cause I am African living in Europe. To be specific South African. You seem to be anti Africa. What is the difference between retiring in Ghana vs Jamaica? It all about demand vs supply, basic economics. Ghana is getting expensive because of the high influx of African Americans not because Ghana is bad. It doesn't matter where you retire, you have to have a long term financial plan and how you will earn a living. I don't know any black retirees who are digital Nomads or housesitters. Those careers are associated with younger people, at least under 60. I feel you are dictating to people to move to your favorite places. You sound prejudice based on very limited research. Your personal experience and chatting to one African American in Africa who didn't do proper research before they moved and had no financial plan doesn't mean the experience will be the same for everyone:-(

I have an agenda. I want peace of mind for Black women that cannot be found in the US. I have a bias toward ease, and that puts some places higher on my list than others. I'm very clear on what my criteria are. And I'm clear that these are MY priorities. The Black women who watch my videos determine their own priorities. You may not know this, but there are LOUD voices that say that African American women MUST move to W. Africa ONLY. (Men are free to pick a country based on who has the most beautiful women, but Black women must go places to BUILD THE ECONOMY.) I can't stand this. I make videos because I want us to determine our own priorities and exercise our options. I didn't say that Ghana was bad. I said that African American women who move to Ghana have a pattern of starting businesses / going back to work. And I prefer to choose places that allow me to work less. I've interviewed Ashley about Tanzania, Halona who moved to Rwanda, Kenna in South Africa , NikkiFaye in Kenya etc. They give their own perspectives. You've watched this video that was me only. But when you watch those interviews, you see that these women speak clearly and freely on their experiences in these countries. Sometimes I'm corrected. Sometimes I'm right. 😆 Black nomadic retirees are on the rise. And I want to make it even easier for people to do that. Enjoy some freedom before getting tied down to another home and more responsibilities. Put the US passport to use. See the world. I'm not a dictator. But I am encouraging a new way of thinking about where you live and why. I appreciate your reflection on my video. I always list South Africa as one of my favorite countries I've visited. (Countries Where Black Travelers Feel Welcome video) I hope you're enjoying living abroad.

I'm a black woman and I moved to Costa Rica I've been here a year now. I can finally THRIVE, heal and support my own business and live off my land without the toxicity, racism and darkness of the United States. I am blessed and honored to have been able to make the move. I don't plan to ever move back to the United States. I am not an expat. I did however, have a remote job from the states that has now ended. It is pushing me to get my business up and running and to start my farm which I'm already harvesting and growing. It's refreshing the people and the culture are beautiful and my rent is only $300 it used to be $200 but I upgraded LOL. God Bless

I’m half Angolan, half Portuguese! Born in Luanda (capital of Angola - african country), but moved to Portugal when I was 3… lived in Lisbon until I was 35, and for the last 5 years, I’m living Luanda. Also had the chance to travel a lot and get to know a lot of different countries. From all of them, Lisbon - Portugal, (even with a lot of issues, because nothing is Perfect), is my favourite place everrrrr. I feel welcome, safe, the city is beautiful, food is great, people are kind (mostly), cultural diverse, but still simple living and good values. Hope by the end of next year, I’ll be moving back there! 🤞🏾

As an Afroeuropean, my dream would be Panama. That's my first retirement destination on my list. Everything about that country fits my dreams perfectly. The Afropanamians to interact with, the weather, the beaches, the healthcare and the tropical environment. The vegetation is just 100% what I love about the place. I also got brothers n' sisters from Europe, Africa and The US who are planning to retire there as well. I have travelled to multiple countries around the globe but Panama was the nation I felt a super connection and love for.

I will say I don’t see that many Panamanian in the USA , maybe they are doing better than DR, PR, Jamaica, Trinidad, Salvador, Mexico, Nicaragua, etc. just your thought since You travel many places, and have Families everywhere.

I love Accra, Ghana. I was there for 13 days. My American dollar was powerful compared to the Ghana Cidi. I could purchase an apartment for 2 years on 1 month of my pension. There's something I'm missing if someone have to work in addition to receiving retirement income because they moved to Ghana. You just don't get un-retired and go back to work. Not this retired government sister. Now, if you acquire a family while you're there.... uh, yeah.... you might have to get mo-money🤣

south africa is actually a crap country amd it is deteriorating because of the corrupt anc government, high crime rate, still stuck in the past because aparthied ended recently in the mid 1990s, conservatism and misogyny is very rampant here as well. Anti-lgbt, anti-leftism, economic inequality, the most unequal country in the world, unfriendly amd stuck up people, unattractive subpar men, GBV, electricity crisis. Racism in the country as well as a very high cost of living. i live in south africa and this is my experience living here. do not recommend

Hello Ms. Stephanie! I am new to your channel. Your channel caught my eye a little while back because I am a black woman who is tired of getting caught up in the rat race here in the US and I feel like I'm just working to pay bills, ugh.😩I've never been outside of the US. Last year I had won a trip to the Bahamas 🇧🇸 for 2, but have come to the realization that my finances are limited. But I had been interested in looking into having position to make money from home, online/remote for a while now. Tried with some investments but that did not work out, unfortunately. I am grateful for your channel and what information you are putting out there for those of us looking to get out of the US matrix rat trap. Truly appreciate the effort you put into making these videos! Thank you! Blessings! 🌅🌺🧡💛💎🕊🌈 BTW, 🎉 CONGRATULATIONS on reaching 100k subscribers!🎊 🥳

Stephanie...white, retired, US expat here....David...now living in Manizales, Colombia...about 5 hrs south of Medellin. Your contacts in Colombia regarding 'food' is spot on. I've previously lived in various states of Mexico and also Cosa Rica. I love Colombia...been here almost 2 yrs now, but the food is SO disappointing. Flavors are very bland, variety of Colombian dishes lack spice, anything a little spicy,(picante), and variety is very limited. You can't beat the cost of living here, the climate in the Andes is the best I've ever lived in, Colombian people...by far the nicest, most helpful, gorgeous women and men. I spent a few months in Medellin on arrival in Colombia..yes, most expats live there, but it's way too big, very congested, somewhat smoggy(cause it's in a huge valley) more expensive than many other Colombia cities, but offers the closest US style lifestyle with modern malls, US based eateries, upscale this and that. Many people love Medellin, but having lived in very large cities in my past, I'm more like you in that I prefer a easy and comfortable lifestyle which is very inviting and can be found in many other cities and towns in Colombia. Good luck Stephanie....I enjoy your videos very much.

Not sure about a Black community in Viet Nam, but I loved it. In fact, I loved staying in Thailand, Cambodia, China too. People were friendly. Yes in China they stared, but that didn't bother me. The biggest issue in China on the subway was the constant smell of cilantro. Most people in the world are good, friendly and decent. They are trying to do the same things we are, raising families and surviving. You will run into a-holes everywhere ( we have a ton in the US), but overall people will try and help you. Never had a problem unless someone was trying to overcharge me. You have to research these places before you go, but just GO! I travelled through Asia alone. My sister was my travel buddy through Europe, but declined Asia. I had a wonderful time. Met people from all over the world. I found that most spoke English in addition to their own language. I always learned some of the language of the country I visited even if it was just "Where is", "Hello", "Thank You" and "How much". Learn the culture and follow their rules, I have a story or two about White women freaking out because they wanted to go into temples in daisy dukes and spaghetti straps. Thank you Stephanie.

I LOVE SE Asia! Solo visits to Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia and enjoyed each place. Met wonderful people in the community and had an amazing time! Spent several weeks in each country and got a feel of the place. Indonesia is my heart and soul and wanted to move there but then COVID-19 restrictions. Still considering it along with Thailand or Portugal. And I agree about researching the culture and customs while learning the language. I swear, wearing DDs at a temple?! I do enjoy your channel and with this list, I've prioritized those cities I'd like to visit (Lisbon, Panama City, Mexico City & Playa Del Carmen. I've already been to Costa Rica and Jamaica. One thing I would have loved to see included in the video is the cost of healthcare in each of these cities. Is healthcare inexpensive (relative to the US), accessible and would your list have changed if the cost of healthcare was added to the equation?. Interested to know your thoughts on this.
