This is the first video I've uploaded in 4K as well as using my new GoPro Hero 11 so let me know down in the comments what you think of the audio/video quality.

Thanks for the video man showed me a different way to get yo that bolt. Long extension was too long so i used medium and a short together with a swivel head ratchet if you have small hands you can reach around the starter and spin the extension by hand. Thank you

I’m so glad the video was helpful! It’s definitely not easy to get that starter out but with the right tools and technique it can be done👍

Those are some serious starters. They used to cost twice as much as that tow bill you were quoted. The bolts that take an Allen wrench to tighten/loosen are called Socket Head Cap Screws (SOHC). They're typically used in the machining world for blind/flush mount holes. They are both handy & a huge pain to deal with. Anyway, glad you got it sorted out. Still dealing with the intermittent issue on the power stroke?

@@WesleyJohnsonMI Ya learn something new everyday! It was a hassle trying to get that screw out but in the grand scheme of things wasn’t the worst thing in the world. I can tell a big difference in how this truck starts so it was money well spent👍. The Powerstroke still is giving me that p1211 code. I’ve done some testing as well as talk to people, and after doing research I’ve narrowed it down to two possibilities that could be wrong with it. The good news is I have everything I need to find/fix what’s wrong, so it won’t be long before I get this truck on the road again👍

No fun at all🤣! But it could’ve been worse. At least it starts better and doesn’t need the block heater to start up so it was well worth the upgrade.

I replaced the starter but can't seem to find where the issue is, It's installed correctly just nothing it turning over just massive voltage dump and then clicking at 8v thoughts?

Did you test the starter before you installed it? It could’ve been faulty right out of the box. Probably not the case but is possible. Also maybe a bad starter relay.

  • @jclark2672

Take the starter apart and the top bolt is a lot easier to reach. Just loosen the two long 10 mm bolts and it comes right apart.

It wasn’t a fun job at all🤣! But I do love these IDI engines. They don’t make a ton of power but parts are cheap and pretty reliable all things considered.
