67 Mustang Coupe to Fastback Conversion in 3 Days
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video we set out to convert a coupe to a fastback in a weekend. This was a father/son project car that I teamed up to help convert to a fastback. What a great experience! I wasn't building their dream car...WE WERE. I'm much more interested in building a dream WITH someone rather than FOR someone. I'd do it again.

yeah. This kit is like $10k. Which is a damn bargain compared to the cost of an original fastback. And even if you do find one, there is not a chance in hell it will be rust free. Thanks for the video.
Us coupe people don't mind a bit a trim thrown our way every now and then 😎
Just getting the floor pan in would have taken me weeks! That's freaking awesome you guys.
I'm sure there are many father/sons who just need the little push to make some progress on their projects. Its the small little hiccups that stop novices in their tracks that an experienced person can solve!
Awesome results! 3 days - wow!
Very enjoyable video, amazing work, once you made the first cuts no turning back, and in a weekend unbelievable, you have set the bar very High!
Awesome to watch, you deserve lots of subscribers
I have a 1967 coupe now I know I will not turn mine into a fastback thank you for this wonderful video
This was definitely an Awesome video!!! I remember in the mid 1980's how all the FORD and Mustang magazines discussions were on converting coupes to fastbacks. Trying to set those angles right, was very difficult if not impossible. You guys really pulled it off in 3 days. Wow!!! I would love to see this car conversion totally restored.😂😂😂
Very awesome. 3 days? That's crazy. One thing that would help us potential future videos is to make a couple of videos using the footage you guys shot for this video. About how, what and where you had to trouble shoot.. what it took to solve the problem. And recommendations as to what pieces are foundation pieces. What needs to be done in which order. If there may be a few thousand potential builders or even day dreamers, I believe those types of videos would serve them very well and make this chanel extremely valuable to everyone who trys to do a conversion. It wouldn't be uncommon for one person to play that video 10 times before he completes his first build. Certainly a great way to boost your viewing and keep your channel feeding youtube algorithms and improve the popularity of the chanel.

Great Advice!!!😊
Молодцы , круто получилось . Самое главное дружба , доверие и мотивация. Тогда все супер !
Man. That came out nice. I always dreamed about having a fastback mustang. Another one I want is the Mach 1, but anything mid engine or fastback looks good to me.

So how is the Project going? You get it done in 6 days? Would take me 6 years.

@richardnott9587 haha no. Working on the front-end. I had to replace the frame rail and radiator support. Had a lot of pieces powdercoated ready to weld back in.
Very, very cool!!
Awesome. It would be nice if you posted where you got all the parts from, for us that don´t know where to source them.
If I was a much younger man I would do one of these conversions. As it stands, I’ll have to make do with my 2020 GT.
Awesome!
I love the video and I really admire all the hard work that goes into it. I got a stupid question…in an effort to keep the metal from rusting in the future… Would it be better to paint and weather proof the parts before it got attached to the car…? I got a lot of respect for you guys…👍👍👍
Very enjoyable video. Thank you
Awesome work in just a weekend. Did you guys rust treat the rails, trunk and other bits before al the new bits went on ?
boy that was a cool ass video. Not only was it nice to learn the mettle fab but the music was great. what was the tune when you were fitting the fastback? if it wasnt 3 am I'd had my guitar out.
THIS IS SICK!!!! REALLY AW
I got a 67 coup with 49500 original miles. Can’t do that one but maybe my 65 or 66. Putting a 3.5 eco boost in the 66.
I had a 67 fast back for 15 yrs. 1978 to to 1995 til I got rear ended ... My dad has a 67 Ford mustang coupe and we still have it til now I did a lot of work to it .. well RIP to my mom and dad. I wish he can see it now but ... I would love to rebuild it to a mustang fastback like the way it doing urs .. Is there a list of all the parts it would take to take a 68 coupe to a 68 fastback? I have my old couple in the barn from 25 years ago. It was fast but I always wished it was a fastback. Since the kids are about gone it would be awesome to do it. I have the heated shop even to do it this winter. Guess I should have watched it better. Lol. Kentucky mustang I heard on the second watching.
New idea. You offer “classes” where people pay to learn how to get their cars together. Also, I live in San Diego. I’m going to find a car and bring it out too!
Thats an awsome video. I have a 67 coupe needs same conversion. Any chance getting some help with it? Not for free
Whered you source your glass from
Yes ! Making a fastback from a rusted notch makes sense, I hate when perfect notchbacks are cut up to make a fastback.
@jameswood231

Yes I'm with you. Seeing classic clean notch backs/coupes hacked up into fastbacks isn't my scene. This was a perfect example to convert this particular coupe now.😅
I have a 70 coup I would like to make it a fast back how much are the parts to make it happen. Great video by the way And what do you charge
Any chance y’all can link the website where you ordered parts and maybe a parts list
Question, do they have a fast back conversion kit for a 64 to 66 mustang
When leveling...jackstands under the frame rails ...not rear axle . BTW seat risers could be weld in better. FWIW I don't believe in a 3 day job. Too many corners will be cut . My 2 eurocents .

Can you do anything for the 74-78 mustang II from the front windshield forward …. The front end looks horrible, have never thought it fit the look of the rest of the car🙈🙈
Would it be easier to start with a convertible vs the coupe?
How much does this full body kit cost?
What would a completed fastback mustang conversion sale for on the market
Can I get a Marti report on that one? 🤣
Would it still be registered as a coupe ?
So you guy's got all the conversion metal for 4 grand, not including the loor , ?
Any updates?
When can I bring my coupe? 😉
Pretty cheap to buy a new body and makes things easier and even easier if you choose Coyote Clecos would make things much easier
Nice project! Your music needs replacement.
How much do you guys charge for the conversion if i find a coup , thank you
What’s the price on labor?
So much love there, leaves you tinging wow! ⛽🏎🚦🏜
😍😍😍
One more question. Do you have any advice or a trick to closing the gap on the rear deck filler panel? I think that’s what it is called. It’s the panel just above the trunk hinges.
@FollowTheBuilds

Yes. I use a jack and a 2x4 to to push up the rear seat bracket to engage the filler panel just above the deck lid. That closes the gap and i tek screw it to its new home.
I have been trying to buy back my first car for 20yrs so I have gave up. My first car was a 1967 coupe and I was 16yrs old and now 56yrs old and can't find one in my area to replace it. I'm in Tennessee. If you know of one for sale for a reasonable price could you let me know? Thank you
I keep debating doing this on my 67 coupe, it's a clean california car so it has almost no rust at all but man do I live me a fast back 😂

@FollowTheBuilds I bet! but no one ever talks about all the other interior conversion pieces that will be needed as well, I'm talking about panels and seats etc
Would you be willing to do something like this with others or is this a one time thing?
@FollowTheBuilds

I’m game to do this WITH others!
I have a question. I’m doing a conversation as we speak. So my question is. once you get it All together with screws and everything lined up. You take it back apart and put the holes in it. So do you put it back together completely and then start welding? Or do you put one panel on and weld then another. This may be a stupid question but I’ve never done anything like this before. I’ve turned some wrenches but never any type of body work or panel fitting. I’m just about at that point of welding now(with the exception of a couple things). My next question would be do you use a ratchet strap to pull the quarters in for the deck brace(just above the trunk)? That looks very intimidating. You do great work and I really thank you for the videos. I’ve always wanted a fastback but this is the only way I’ll get one. Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing more videos.thank you for any advice.

This is great you are tackling this. Excited for ya. So I initial tek screw it together and get the rear window squared to 54.25”. After that I mark everything…dots where I want to put holes and circles where I know I need to keep the tek screw to reassemble. Main reason to disassemble is to punch holes…you could do this before initial fit check but I like to be sure I’m drilling holes in the right location. I try to keep the inner structure intact and drill the pilot holes carefully for the spot welds. Key take away is take your time. Consider the big variables…your door gaps and height…the rear window dimensions…and the dreaded rear deck lid alignment. It can get frustrating aligning moving panels…just walk away and come back to it another day. UNLESS YOUR UNDER A TIME CRUNCH like we were…3 days. Thanks for the question my friend!

Can you take a 65 or 66 and make a 67 fastback
Hi I have a 67 mustang coupe would you guys be interested in converting into fast back and if yes how much if u guys in San Diego I can take it to you I’m in az
I Don't Think That A 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback, Had A Rear Deck Spoiler Built Into It Like That 🤔?, Correct Me If I'm Wrong 🤔 ! , But If You Were To Look At The 1968 Ford Mustang GT, From The Movie Bullitt, The Movie Car Has No Rear Deck Spoiler 🤔?
