60 Years Old Valve Grinder Restoration
I bought this 1950s-1960s Dewet valve grinder not so long ago for a restoration. This is a multi tool for grinding valve and valve stems. The left wheel can be used as a standard bench grinder. Unfortunately I didn't find the proper grinding wheel for now.
All bearing were oiled before first test, and oil was added to each oil hole

That's a very heavy duty, well built machine. Didn't show a lot of wear for its age. They don't make much like that anymore. Good job!

Not many things made today will last this long.
Very good job! Old machines are built very well, it is always worth restoring them!
Must be 50 years since I have used one of these, how time flies
Wow what a big job.. Turned out very nice... Ready for another 60 years...
Amazing restoration, thank you for sharing.
Very fine job. A lot of patience shown. I like the fact that you didn't try to improve the original. As to some of the negative comments, some people don't even like themselves.
I just LOVE watch old mecha restored back to life! Your channel RAWKS!!!
I’m impressed ,totally worth while project. Your workmanship is excellent.
An extremely worthy project very well undertaken - I am jealous.
NICE SAVE!!! well done. I use to do 3 angle valve jobs back in the day on race engines with that exact machine!
This is a beautiful piece of machinery, I would love to have this in my shop.
I am really surprised as to how nice the machine was made back in the day. Even the cast ribs inside the machines frame is just classic old school. This machine could run indefinitely. Something the new machine do not have a prayer. Thanks you for showing use some really cool rebuild. Look forward to see more please too.
Really nice restoration. It is great that it can be used again. Well done!
World-Class Machine.....built to last for Centuries....hand scraped beds...finest castings....u did a top-job on this....congrats
The valve grinders are still very much in use today although younger mechanics probably don't know how to use those. In the marine those are quite common too still. Nice restoration nevertheless and subscribed of course. Edit, thanks no annoying unnecessary background music or noise.

Yes, in the Merchant Marine also.
I can remember using one similar to this where i worked in 1975 Wish i had one now . This brings back so many memories .
That's a really good resto job on the '30s valve grinder. Good video!!🙃👍🇭🇲😁
It is strange that the new tools will not work in 10 years but the old ones will work even after 100 years.
Valve grinders are actually great tools - they can save the day for any shop where a valve is just a bit worn or just a fraction bent.
With the right grinding wheel it'll be a joy to use. Well done
Well done video, that’s a big well done restore, you have done this before. We love the sound of work not outside noise.
I love the color. I love old machines. I would paint it the same way. Well done!
A brilliant video, really enjoyable all the way through. Thank you.
Brilliant production! No ear splitting music or nervous, mind numbing useless commentary.
I fine process of restoration you took the time and effort to bring back a machine to its origial Working condition, That was a quality machine to do a specific operation and now it can be utilized again, thanks for a good job and video effort!

I completely agree with you Robert. I love seeing tools kept out of landfill and put back into use.
They sure don't build quality machines like that one anymore! Awesome video! Thanks for sharing!
I enjoy watching you work it’s soothing
Nice job. I bought a Black and Decker from the 1930's that looks much like yours. Oil and grease made it work. It runs truer than a Sioux Falls at the local engine shop. Best part of the deal was the cost on Ebay, $.99.

Your work is excellent!!!
I learned how to operate one of these when I was eleven years old. I became very good with it over four years.
You must have one hell of a memory ! Id never remember where everything went !! Well done brilliant renovation !!

Thank you ! When there are a lot of parts, I put everything in separate plastic bags, and when I doubt, I watch the videos :)

Guess if it was all filmed you could watch the video back to refresh your memory. When I take things to pieces I take photos and lots of notes and drawn digrams too.
I cant remember when last I enjoyed a video so much as this one, it was brilliant. I am now going to subscribe ant try to catch up ,with your projects. You fitted new bearings and great restoration of the rest, to my mind a great reconditioning job. You should be pleased with your skills , my regards and respect. Colin. UK.

Beautiful work
Good restoration .I enjoyed watching it .
I enjoy the respect that you gave the old machine. Rather disassembling with a big hammer and bigger chisels as some do, you were slow and diligent in the process. Great job.
Very good restoration 👍👍👍
Good work and a demo to boot. That's a thumbs up.
Kudoos to the wonderful people back in the day that could make such a awesome machine and all we need to do is show it a lil tlc and to bring it back to life.
That is a beautiful machine! Great job, wish it wash mine!
🧡 Just found, and subscribed to your channel, and I'm loving your work! Excellent. Fantastically shot. Thank you 🧡
Nice job. That machine reminds me of a Van Norman I had in the 1960s. JIM
I can see so many uses for this machine.
Excellent job!
excellent work...a pleasure to watch
I watched this video some time ago, came back and watched again. This time, I subbed you. Very impressive restoration and attention to detail is great.
Good job mate...I used one of those for many years..
schönes Spielzeug für Männer, was sich da alles anstellen läßt, gute Arbeit. nice toy for men, what can be done, good job. ☺
Your time, care and dedication are evident in both your work and it's result. Earned a sub first video I watched. This tool would be great for cutting tool geometries, unlike most here I've no experience on one.
One great job, have a nice day !!!.
Very good workmanship.
Good restoration 👍
Amazing how many parts there is in such a simple machine.
Witam i pozdrawiam!!Renowacja Szlifierki to majstersztyk, duza wiedza z dziedziny budowy maszyn, bedzie dalej sluzyc, rzetelnosci dokladnosc przynosi dobry efekt, dobry pokaz filmu ! Tak trzymac!!
I used to use one of these in the 70's.
I owned and used an identical machine in the 1960s, but it was made in the US. Dewet was a French company and I wonder if these were made under license. Excellent job on a high quality machine. Hope you can find the right grinding wheel for it.
Impressive restoration. Liking the brass hammer, and using a roller to paint. It looks like it is ready to go. Peace
Pro life tip, if you want small custom size grinding wheels you can have them water jet cut from bigger grinding wheels, just make sure to leave a little extra on the other diameter to allow for some dressing.

he can look at GOODSON, they have an array of grinding wheels so he surely find something that fills the bill.
Superbe machine et très belle restoration !
great job ,we had one very much like that when i was an apprentice it was a black and decker brand but it had a coolant pump as well to keep the valves cool while grinding. I imagine it was made in the fifties.

sorry i said black and decker it was actually a warren and brown valve refacer.both old names in australia.
Hi FT👋👋👋👋very good restoration valve grinder 👍👍👍and video cool 🤝🤝🤝🤝
I really need a valve grinder. I bet even a 300$ one on Facebook will pay for itself after just a few uses.
Great video!! Nice work
The 60-year-old machine was opened, restored, not seen, checked the electric motor to see if it was still working, cleaned, painted and then reassembled to make sure it worked. This is unbelievable.
really nice video and a unique machine
Great work
I remember using the kind with grinding wheels for each valve angle - this seems like a more flexible design.
You did a great job..how i admire the builder in the past who didn't settle for chinese junk or recycled crap..and you deserve more subs..
Well done 👍
Nice job, as it happens I have just aquired one of these, really well made, I think mine is a bit later it has a suds pump on the back, the whole machine weighs just over 100Kg!
My dream ... Good job! I restore old cars and I will find a tool like this.
I spent a lot of time operating one of these as well as a Sioux machine...
Nice Job!
Remember using one of these.
Really nice work. :)
Excelente restauración; ¡100 puntos! .
Your work is such a joy to watch.

Your video so good, don't give up, I'm sure in short time your chanel will rise up.. because U so good in making video n I love it.. keep it up bro.😎
Bravo Monsieur!
Greetings buddy, cool job. I like it👍
good work
Bendiciones.
I love your brass hammer that's obviously just a chunk of bar stock that you tapped and threaded to put a handle on

Thank you ! I thougth about making something sophisticated, but I found this brass bar. At least I can re-grind it flat for a lifetime :)
Amazing job~! Very Nice~~~~
Lovely 😊 job
Very good and excelent job 10/10
Good job
Excellent
You put alot of work & time into that thing!! Nice work man! I have a old souix im trying to do something similar too. Im trying to rebuild it but I dont need to go the lengths you went with yours. I need to get all new wiring for mine & clean it up good & remember how it all goes back together? I don't need to strip the paint of mine. I dont think its necessary so far? I may change my mind, we will see? I just want it work good, nice & true.
Harbor Freight sells a “Super Heavy Duty Degreaser” in a one gallon container that is fluorescent green. Soak those parts overnight and all the paint is off, works like magic you’ll have to work on a dilution that works.
