6 Steps To Overcome Generalized Anxiety Disorder | My Anxious Story (THE TRUTH)

Visit theanxietyguy.com/my-program/ for the #1 CBT Based Downloadable Program For General Anxiety Sufferers.
*Dennis is a fully certified CBT Life Coach that has helped thousands of people worldwide turn their generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) around naturally. A coach who continues to inspire people through the inspirational anxiety support podcast on iTunes.
Description: MOST anxiety gurus teach sufferers how to cope, not to end anxiety permanently. Breath... distract yourself... happy thoughts wait for it to pass.. You and I both know deep breathing and distracting yourself is not gonna work, all you're getting is band-aids to cover up the main issue.
As someone who has thousands of people overcome Generalized Anxiety Disorder, panic attacks, health anxiety and depression for many years, I want to share with you the ESSENTIAL steps to overcoming Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I can promise you with great certainty that if I can overcome Generalized Anxiety Disorder in a time period of a few months after suffering for 6 years, you most definitely can as well.
GAD affects roughly 7 million americans and is characterized by excessive, uncontrollable and quite often irrational worry about normal everyday situations which is quiet disproportionate to the actual source of worry. GAD sufferers often anticipate disaster and are extremely concerned over everyday matters such as money, family problems, work issues and health issues.
GAD appears to be more common in women then men and it may be difficult to pinpoint when and how the sufferer began suffering from GAD. The anxiety and over worry habit is usually present more days then not for at least 6 months, and there is a clear association between your anxiety and at least three of the physical symptoms on this list: sweating profusely, shortness of breath, sharp pains in chest or chest discomfort, palpitations of the heart (too hard and or too fast), trembling or shaking, nausea, dizziness and lightheadedness, hot flashes, consistently startled easily, sleeping problems, lump in throat, frequent urination, headaches, and trouble concentrating.
On the surface many people with GAD appear fine and seem to be going about their day normally without much problem, they seem relaxed and calm and as it was in my case can be viewed as possibly being the last person on earth to have an anxiety problem, but again the constant turmoil is continuos in their internal life.
GAD can linger on for years and if untreated through understanding and putting into action the learned steps mentioned in this program, it can possibly become more and more difficult to get and stay on the path to recovery.
Unfortunately many people because of their desperation to end their uncontrollable symptoms of anxiety and the fear of losing control of their mind, tend to look for a quick fix in the form of abusing anti anxiety prescription pills or turn to alcohol for the answers, although these quick fix solutions may feel great at the time, the human body tends to need higher doses of prescription pills in the long run to meet the same result you had when you first started, and alcohol can greatly backfire in the long run for overly anxious people (more on this later), since panic attacks generally go hand in hand with GAD, alcohol will stop your body from working at a peak level, due to the minerals and nutrients your body needs that will now be moved to the liver to help it metabolize the alcohol faster.
If you think that the next day after drinking alcohol was bad think again, the fear of recurring physical sensations and the experiences of the morning of your hangover can greatly add to the possibility of having multiple hangovers and panic attacks in the coming days, and they are not fun I can tell you from experience. Some of the causes of GAD come from:
Genetics - Family history appears to play a role in developing GAD, chances are higher that a person will develop GAD if another family member has had the mental illness in the past.
Environmental factors - these represent a major cause of anxiety for everyone, not only those that are prone to worrying, some environmental factors include: Divorce, school, stress, birth of a baby, stress in a friendship of family relationship, work stresses, marriage, natural disaster, death of loved one, or public performance.
Neurological causes - Some evidence can be made that differences in neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) play a role in causing GAD, these are: Seratonin, Dopamine, Norepinephrine and gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA). Research has also seen a positive effect over these neurotransmitters in the brain by altering them through anti depressants, but the long term side effects are just now coming forward in the form of sleep disturbances, sexual dysfunction, weight gain, lethargy/fatigue, and vivid dreams and nightmares.

The everyday anxiety has taken over my life, I don't know where it all went wrong. Thank you for your videos, I see myself in the old you!

Ive gained 75 pounds, have low libido and constant fatigue. Spent thousands of dollars on dr visits just to be told Im completely healthy and am just dealing with mental illness. As a mother of 3 its been extremely difficult for me but Ive also realized I am the strongest person I know because even with agorophobia and nocturnal panic disorder I still live and work and drive and am there for my kids. Anxiety sucks and I feel like a fraud because Im happy on the outside but dying on the inside.

My anxiety started off the same as yours did, an irrational fear of a disastrous physical health issue such as having cancer, heart attack and so on. That was when I was young man with a family and a job, now and older retired person, I have lived with anxiety my entire life. I still have anxiety over my health but that is minor to what an untreated mental health disease can manifest itself into. I now suffer with OCD every wakening day of my life. My toughest time is in the early A.M. before getting out of bed. I will awake in a panic attack thinking about the what ifs that might happen during the coming day. As an older person now, ironically, I wish my obsessive ruminating was worrying about my health and not the other unwanted scernio’ s my mind generates which in turns forbids all joy from entering my life. I can now say if only the internet was available (KZread) to me when I first started experiencing this mental anguish. But it is now available and I get great benefit from blogs like yours and others that talk mental health issues. My advice to someone that suffers with anxiety is to get help right away when you first realize something is not right. Believe me it won’t go away by itself. Thanks.

Great to see these steps forward you're taking Natalie. The easy thing to do is to take a pill (Of course there are times when it's totally necessary for a person). The more difficult thing to do and something your mind and body will resist is to change certain thought and behavior patterns that feed anxiety. With you every step.

I get this question emailed to me quite a bit. The truth is Christian that from time to time after this video I was still aware of the same physical symptoms of anxiety, but by then had already broken the patterns that in the past led to panic attacks. So the answer would be no, I had no more panic attacks just before and after this video. When you recognize that you have two choices you can go in moments of stress, you start to practice new physiological responses in those moments. Thankfully with the physiological changes, my mind tagged along and my beliefs changed very quickly.

Thanks for the information. I had an anxiety attack a few weeks ago and I thought I was for one thing which was going to visit the doctor. But ever since then its been a worry after worry after worry which lead to irrational beliefs that I am currently living with. Its really hard but yes I do find comfort in knowing that if its not this thing then itll be something else so it sort of gives me a peace of mind. I really would like to speak with you about this. is this possible?

I'm like tearing up watching your videos. My panic attack came outta nowhere watching maybe the third Game Of The playoffs (yes this recent one lol) but I was fine watching the game laying on my tummy. I had to sit up and I got a little dizzy but I was holding my chest and it felt like I couldn't breathe 😢😢😢 #WasSoScary I went to the hospital and they test me too and said they can tell I have mixed anxiety and depression. they gave me medication right away too but I was worry to take the medicine and become addicted (like Ive watched on Dr. Oz people go thru addiction) I don't want that. I'm always tryna find natural ways to fight it but I STILL don't like going outside. Its hard to practice what I heard is preached SMH I do try and it feels like at night my worries come back or even when I'm out I'm worrying 😔 I do believe my room is my comfort and worry zone. but if I can feel one ounce of myself I stay put. SMH it's hard to do the things I enjoy. My family always looked up to me being the strongest so now their worry for me. I've always battle get stronger after something bad has happened to me but This time I can't 😢 or maybe I'm drilling that negativity in my head. but watching this definitely puts perspective. I use to write in a Journal when I was going thru to depression as a kid (knowing what I know now I definitely know I was going thru it just was never diagnosed) and cuz I was a kid. I might of gotten over it easy cuz I played outside alot. Now I'm an adult it's not so easy. I just wanna say thank you for sharing this. I will have to watch again to write down your steps cause I'm ready to live my life again 💜

Chronic anxiety = chronic lowered immune systems. People don't realize the importance of going above and beyond with their diets. I started doing vitamins and mineral IV's and it improved drastically. It's just one way of getting the body back into balance.

adfa afasd it is great you are avoiding those foods. To be honest I believe it's important to take out and put in different types of foods when it comes to anxiety. But it's also very much a state of mind, how we think the food will affect us. Secondly I think minerals are key due to the salty foods most anxiety suffered crave (low adrenals from fighting all day). Himalayan sea salt is great. Beets, kale, lemon and nuts are a great mix.

Pedro Rosado Pedro it's important to work with the mind and body daily towards health anxiety freedom. Mind meaning you need to learn how to change the meaning behind the words that create triggers within you, so that your response is a more neutral one. Working with the old thought patterns to challenge their validity, the evidence behind them, and replacing them. Body meaning your breathing patterns and posture go a long way towards lessening the rapid functioning of your fight or flight messages. Think about it like your breathing sending your mind anxious or calming signals unconsciously throughout the day. This is a good starting point and this program will go much deeper into the method towards recovery from health anxiety and GAD - anxietyexit.com/my-program/
