You got it. People here in the US don't understand life in Europe generally speaking. People eat smaller portions of very good food and walk a lot. Walking on cobble stone streets is a skill, they're not as easy to walk as the smooth surface sidewalks in almost any US city. So, you are exercising without thinking about it. I was amazed to see how people maneuver those giants in those streets or watching musical bands walking at a pretty fast pace on the streets during some religious celebration and no one falls (young and old) while playing and reading music at the same time. Even in northern Spain they eat a Mediterranean style diet and it has absolutely nothing to do with the "Mediterranean Food" you see in the US grocery stores. Enjoy life and be happy.

Can't believe I found this channel. My husband and I have been talking about moving to Europe from the US for almost 2 years. It's finally happening this summer. We went to Galicia on our honeymoon and our favorite city was Ourense, so it's cool to see that y'all settled there too!

"Vale" is the last word in the novel "Don Quixote de la Mancha." And its obsolete meaning is "goodbye or farewell that is given to a dead person, or that which is said at the end of something." Nice video, wellcome to Spain.

My family is from Galicia, but I was born in the US, just a thought; a great way to practice your vocabulary is to listen to audiobooks, they have tons of audiobooks available in both Castilian and Latin American Spanish. In the past few years they have released tons of popular fantasy series in Castilian Spanish, like Brandon Sanderson books, but you probably want to start with books with a middle-school vocabulary, like Rick Riordan books. They also have lots of historical fiction like Edward Rutherfurd and Ken Follet in Castilian, and also classics like Tolstoy and Jane Austen. Also Tony Robbins books on investing are available in Castilian. Audiobooks are a great way to saturate your brain with the language, it also helps if it is a book you have already read in English.

Cheap and easy access to fresh baked bread is what I miss most when I'm not in Europe, even Spanish bread (and I know you know what I'm talking about, having walked from France to Spain).

LOL. French bread is amazing. But our favorite is sourdough and it's ALL OVER Galicia. I'll take Galician bread over French bread any day. But... the rest of Spain has good bread, but French bread is definitely a bit better.

What a great video! The wife and I have been watching your videos for the last two years. It’s wonderful to see how well you are adapting to Spanish culture. My wife and I I have been visiting Spain, once a year for the last 20 (we usually stay 3 weeks at a time). 10 years ago we started going north ( Asturias, Cantabria mostly). It’s been our dream to move and retire there ( we’re fairly young retirees at 58) But now, we’re thinking about doing 6 months in Spain and 6 in the states. . Wishing you continued success. Were curious, not that it’s any of our business, you mentioned a year ago that you were on a non- lucrative work visa. Are you still able to not work? Bessos y abrazos de Los Estados Unidos

Hi, we're in Galicia our house is literally on the Camino francés, loving your videos, but I don't do much interaction normally, but I thought I would this time :). We haven't visited Ourense yet. I assume the hot springs are Aquis Querquennis. We went there last spring, it was flooded and we couldn't find the actual springs. You must have explained elsewhere why you chose Galicia, so I shan't ask.

  • @DaysWeSpend

Hi neighbor! We must have walked right by your house last September! Aquis Querquennis are really far from us. We have lots of other hot springs in our city. If you google search "termas" a lot more things pop-up. Yes, the rivers flood many of the springs in the winter (even some of them in Ourense flood).

It's not late, we don’t do things "late", Spain is on the wrong timezone, Galicia even more so. When you are having your "superlate" dinner at 9 pm in Galicia, it's really about 6:30 pm solar time. To us Spaniards it's a bit annoying when foreigners talk about "late" hours in Spain

  • @DaysWeSpend
