6 Extinct Animals That Could Actually Come Back

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

These top extinct animals are on the verge of coming back to Earth. This is a throwback to some extinct animals I actually searched for on Extinct or Alive. With major scientific advances in recent years, and conservation attempts around the world, these extinct species could actually return to our world. From the woolly rhino to the great auk, and vaquita these are 6 animals that could return.

Protecting an endangered species is an issue of it's own. Nothing wrong with a company addressing separate issues. That's like telling a company that manufactures healthier food options to stop and instead teach people how to eat healthier. The two can co exist and address separate issues.

I’ve actually seen the two northern white rhinos that are left. They are at the San Diego lion country safari park, and are spectacular. Another method the people there are attempting to bring back this species with is breeding them with their extremely similar relative, the southern white rhino. There would be very little genetic differences in the offspring as long as they use selective breeding effectively (which they definitely would).

San Diego is super involved in the push to bring back the NWR, and have been doing a lot of work with IVF using their SWR population. They are likely to be the first place to successfully breed a NWR via a SWR surrogate, but at the moment they have not produced any NWR offspring. But the remaining mother/daughter pair of the NWR are actually under armed guard in a Kenyan conservation park, while technically being owned by a Czech Zoo.

Forrest, you are one of the most prominent, respected individuals in the fight to preserve the wildlife currently and recently lost on our planet. That said, one of my biggest pet peeves regarding animal based channels is the use of footage of the wrong species when discussing another. I feel it discredits the content producer and misguides those that are less informed on a species. All the footage of domestic ferrets used during your discussion on the plight of the black footed ferret is unfortunate. Things like that can derail your extremely important message. I really appreciate your hard work teaching and exposing your fan base to important conservation issues. Thank you for caring about our natural world.

I recently came across a video of the last Kauaʻi ʻōʻō bird's call as he waited for a mate who would never come, and I felt so devastated and couldn't help crying. That video was what got me interested in extinct animals and coming across your channel where you talk about the possibility of extinct animals returning, the videos of you going in search of rare animals and the pure joy and excitement you share with us when you actually find one was a ray of hope. I understand that the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō birds aren't significantly important to our eco system and bringing back animals from extinction is a really long and expensive process, but I hope that someday, those little birds can sing in real life again. I would love to hear your thoughts on the possibility of these birds being brought back, though!

Yeah, Human interaction is a bitch. It basically also means the Darby Sturgeon (Yuangtze River Sturgeon) went exctint in the wild and the Baji (Yuangtze River Dolphin) is virtually exctinct as well due to them damming off the Yuangtze and Yellow rivers, the natural range for these animals. Sadly, they often don't get enough recognition as needing to be saved, because they are Chinese animals. Due to that damming, the Chinese Paddlefish also has went exctint no later than 2010, although it was functionally exctinct in 1993, with it officially being declared in 2022.

With the possibility of bringing back extinct megafauna like the wooly mammoth and the wooly rhino, would the intention be to reintroduce them to the wild or would they most likely be kept exclusively in captivity? Among conservationists in The Netherlands and the rest of Europe. here is a lot of discussion going on about bringing back extinct species: some say: shouldn't the resources put into this effort be better spent to protect endangered species that are still around and can be saved from extinction. Interesting to see how this evolves. One small note: did you really call mustelids rodents? A spoken word typo?

I found a family of black footed ferrets in San Angelo TX in 2022 living under a big cactus on the grounds of the international waterlily garden in the middle of town. They were very shy but came out almost every evening

Such a monumental wishful thinking. Extinct from mainland Australia over 3,000 years ago. You have to consider how large Australia is, for an animal to go extinct on a large content just proves how vulnerable they were. They remained on Tasmania because they were completely isolated, no chance of being out competed. New Guinea did have native wild dogs, Tasmania never did

@jakecook716 Maybe check out the video about the Thylacine that Forrest just released. It's an interesting watch, and he explains why the last stronghold for Thylacines is most likely New Guinea. If you have seen it sorry for the inconvenience and have a great day.

The Black Footed ferret conservation story is quite amazing, The captive breeding program was needed because the people sent to protect the ferrets in the wild accidentally carried canine distemper and decimated the population. I really am making a very long convoluted story into one easier to describe.

We had a discussion in our genetics lecture yesterday about whether we should breed northern and southern white rhinos to bring back the northern white rhino. Complicated subject but ultimately I think we should.
