6 Crazy T17 Map Ideas For PoE 3.25

While the T17 maps introduced in Path of Exile's most recent expansion, PoE 3.24 Necropolis League may have not had the best reception, I'd argue their bosses were phenomenal. These new encounters lay the groundwork for possible future expansions by Grinding Gear Games. Which begs the question: which PoE 1 bosses could GGG turn uber for the next set of t17 maps?

    I would make a Karui themed map, probably Volcano for tileset, with a buffed Kaom as the boss. When he hits half health his "Hyrri, aid me!" line would play and Hyrri from Legion would join the fight. The reward would be Kaom's Heart, possibly buffed; not sure where its power level is these days but it's an old favorite of mine and feels like an iconic unique from the past that could use some love.

    Clash of Wills - Uber Tsoagoth, The Brine King in the middle, Uber Arakaali, Spinner of Shadows around the edge, with Uber Solaris, Eternal Sun and Uber Lunaris, Eternal Moon roaming the donut shaped platform in the middle. For the tile set I'm imagining mineral pools with poison instead of water and the sun/moon lighting from Twilight Temple. It can have the same gimmick where the last boss you kill determines which loot drops and have it be uber versions of all of their existing items, Brine Crown, Arakaali's Fang, Vix Lunaris, and Invictus Solaris.

    I actually had a dream about a map I was playing that could potentially work as t17 map with some changes. The map was a single long narrow corridor filled with enemies. Along the corridor there were coffins. As soon as you got near the first one a tormented spirit would come out. Due to the narrow corridor, it basically hit all enemies nearby. But, each coffin would spawn one more tormented spirit than the last. The end of the corridor was a boss room. There were three bosses and several coffins. When you entered the room the first coffin would spawn a bunch of stacking tormented spirits some of which were unique to this fight and looked unique compared to others. These ones could resurrect the bosses you've already killed if you didn't kill them quickly. Obviously, this would need to be adjusted but a "Torment" themed map sounds cool to me.

    A lake of kalandra map. Basically contains 16 tiles for of premade lake map and the last tile always has an Ethereal Reflecting Mist (The mist that you can use to reflect rare jewelry). Boss could also drop rare reflected rings etc.

    Got 3 ideas right now. Have fun with them! Infinite Darkness - Based on Delve Face Delve monsters in a series of tunnels where darkness appears if you are not fast enough (or if you backtrack) Final boss would be a duo of 2 out of the 3 Delve bosses (like Crystal King) Rewards would replace all items with fossils, except for the final map bosses that could drop their own unique items Corrupted Seeds - Based on Harvest Face harvest monsters where each of them drops little bit of lifeforce Final boss would be Uber Oshabi from Harvest Rewards would be higher chance of getting Sacred lifeforce Afflicted and Wicked - Based on Affliction league Face monsters that all are wisps empowered (map mods would be the 3 types of wisps in % to represent the ratio of monsters being influenced by them) Final Boss would be a Uber King in the Mists Rewards would be empowered version of affliction rewards we had last league

    They should've added 4 new tiers of maps, t17,18,19 and 20, (valdo's puzzle box would be the "t21" equivalent in difficulty), so what we have now as "t17" could be the "t19" in order to ballance the game in an easier way. This + new maps + new bosses + some extra atlas passive skill points would be a dream.

    My best idea would be to seperate them from the atlas. I hate T17 maps being just straight up better than T16's. I would much rather see them serve a specific purpose.

    I was thinking a Legion themed map where the strength and loot of the final boss/bosses was determined by the number of monsters remaining in the map. Map has no time limit and all monsters in map are in stasis (like Legion). If you wipe out all of a particular armies monsters then an uber version of that army General is present in the boss room. If your build is op you can clear the whole map and fight all 5 uber versions at once. I've no idea how balancing would work, like would it be most efficient to run 1 boss or all 5 or would the risk reward not be worth the time/investment but thats just my idea. There would probably have to be some fancy reward for the full 5 boss encounter.

    This is a bit out there, I thought it would be sick if the T17s had a strong unique identity, making them truly separate from T16s. My idea for a map is a blight themed map, throughout the map there is blight pustules that you can claim for rewards. The boss fight is similar to a blight encounter, where you have to defend the fungal growth from enemies, the interesting difference is that a boss is actively interfering with you. As far as I know there is not a blight boss that would work well, so Ryslatha is one idea I had. This of course ties into my main idea for how to properly balance T17s, which is remove the ability to use scarabs and only use atziri fragments. With proper balancing they would still be strong farming strategies as well it also makes it feel more like an in-between stage of mapping and bossing.

    The video and comments are full with great ideas. I think each T17 should feel unique like a boss fight in itself. Mark Roberts commented at 3.24 reveal that they would be adding more T17s in the future so I wish they listen to some of the ideas here.

    T17 maps need to be reworked. No more implicit more multipliers to specific type of loot. The quant the higher packsize, the higher ilvl and rares with more innate quant/rarity is enough. They don't need to also have "+300% more currency" on them. Also, things should maybe not scale linearly with increased effect type modifiers. Not for difficulty reasons alone but also performance. A map full of ranged mobs that have 12 extra projectiles is unplayable if you don't off-screen everything. I like the crucible idea as long as there are no ways to mix them with synthesis items. Would be a good alternative to mirroring weapons for very high budget players. Because right now there is literally no reason to try and craft your own weapon. It is way too deterministic to craft the perfect weapon so spending over half a mirror trying to craft an item that is 70% (at best) of the power level of a mirrored item just doesn't feel worth it. Especially with how many "no fee" services groups are active in the game in the past leagues.

    Remove t17 from atlas influence, scarabs dont work with him anymore, remove sick mods, but they have 10 mods now.
