It’s beautiful how we can rewatch certain section to understand it over time. Expecting to understand everything in one go is most definitely overwhelming. Me as a new player, now plays PoE with a whole different kind of confidence in crafting after watching this video. I’d say it’s a 10/10 of a well demonstrated and organized educational video. Much thanks 🙏🏻

Gotta say even though a 2 hour video on the subject is a lot, the fact that it isn't 4+ years old, the timestamps, and the down to earth delivery makes it a pretty damn good resource for new players like me who are just getting into PoE. I'm not at the point where I want to stare at text about the game for hours but, I'm getting there! Certainly have before with many more casual games - lol! Cheers man! Thank You!

You spent 20ex on a iLvL 20 weapon for leveling alts? That’s a bit overkill when all you need to level any build is a ~8c Tabula Rasa, which will even carry you early mapping.

@@IntegraGSR5 Yo you still need a tip? Tier:8 is around when Tabula falls off and you need a good basic armour with at least 50+ life and resistances. Also remember to ALWAYS cap your resistances

Thanks for taking your time on this. Still feel overwhelmed, because we have a lot of options here and its a year later since this posting, so some minor changes could of came about. This was by far the best rundown I've seen yet though on what is all possible when it comes to crafting items and manipulating items in POE. Its insane how many routes there is to go when you are just getting that point where crafting is required to improve a build.

Thank you very much for going in so much detail about crafting. Haven't seen another video like this. It is very helpful for me and probably others who are still learning.

Bro the chance orb 😂. Also thank you for this guide it has helped a hell of a lot. I really didn’t understand even the basics so covering stuff from the complete ground up is so so helpful and is the perfect style for teaching. So many tutorials skip stuff like how to use the basic currency, why even cheap currency is useful and how prefix/suffix work. Most things I read or watched did have helpful information but made lots of assumptions about preformed knowledge and skipped past all the real basics, then would just say use that path of crafting site. Site confused confused me to fuck lol, but now your video has helped me get a good foundation of knowledge and I can use it semi properly.

SO GLAD I FOUND THIS! Crafting was such a confusing thing, and you made it a lot easier. From the most simple craft to the more complicated craft. Also allows me to know what materials I should be buying if I want to craft a specific type of weapon.

Ty for this :) I'm a newer player, and your guide was the first I've looked at that not only starts with the fundamentals, but also gives nice examples and explains the STRATEGY behind using the tools. This was missing in a lot of other videos I watched before I watched yours - many would just explain what the tool is, but never took the step the explain WHY you may use something. As a newer player, the context and examples you provided were perfect! I'm still learning, making my way through yellow maps for the first time, and building knowledge on what is "valuable", but I'm book marking your guide for the future when Im ready to dive in and start crafting the big stuff!

I've now watched over half of the guide so far and I'm really thankful that you've put in time to share all this knowledge with us. Side note: your tone of voice and cadence of your sentences puts me at ease. Makes all this complexity a lot more easy to digest. Peace.

Little update for current state of the game, to avoid surprises: catalyst quality does not influence crafting outcomes anymore, and quality is not removed from them either. (See "item balance" section of the 3.15 update patch notes: "Catalysts no longer affect the chances of rolling related modifiers on jewellery through crafting, and Quality on jewellery is no longer removed when crafting with specific Currency.").

My first reaction "My guy are you young or old??" After 2 hours of almost entirely new info and amazing learning on my end "You've earned the Grey from being a sage. I sew now. Your knowledge is why you look like a hipster wizard." All in good fun man, and for real, this was INSANE I literally got dinner and watched this and gained such an insight into the game itself. I genuinely wanna try crafting now

Again a great vid. Had to watch it in 2 Session though, 2 hours is alot ^^ I would love to see an example during the next league where you start with a base and talk through the crafting process and show us your thoughtprocess. How deep you want to invest for what slot and what purpose does the slot need to fulfill and so on. Even better if its not the super-duper endgame crafting but somewhere during yellow or early red maps. Im never quite sure what stats to aim for when im in the mid-atlas. Thanks again for the great content!

I watched the whole thing. Amazing!!! I've never made it past a few exalts and had no idea how maven or conquerer exalts do or how combining mods works. I have a ring and a boot that I'm really looking forward to improving now! I realized that my "zomg amazing" ring that I use has literally only 1 mod that makes it good and I can split it and try to craft up a new ring with that mod instead!!!!

i am just 10 minutes in, and i already understood so much more because you are showing what the things do. i am very new to PoE and its so overwhelming. :( Thanks for the video, i am sure there will be much more things i can learn from this.

Love the presentation and all the info. I knew most of it but things like using Bestiary for getting anti freeze flasks is GENIUS. Better than a millions alteration orbs and praying for those 1 or 2 flask mods. ALSO, loved the way you kinda cringed everytime you knew you were about to do something expensive. I could feel your pain lol.

This is really great and informative so far. Played PoE forever but I've always been too intimidated by the crafting systems. Thanks a lot!

Crafting is much more accessible in Scourge now that currency drops are so gameable and they drop in stacks. A good rare Scourge map with added missions and fragments is basically an orb pinata.

Like many others, I've watched tons of videos relating to crafting only to leave confused and completely uninterested and put off. I'm not boasting or bragging here, but I'm no slouch in the intelligence category ( I work in Ion Beam Technology) but most other videos are convoluted and full of ego/fluff. Your video has now opened my eyes and I can't thank you enough. Job well done sir🎉

To be fair crafting is just a currency sink hole. You think you have a lot of currency and money until u start crafting ONE item. And boom, u are poor.

@@jackzera7356 yeah. You need to absolutely know what you are doing. And then you need luck. I got scammed with a 5l shavrones wrappings but linked in under 100 fusings XD. Still lots of money down the drain. In bestiary league i linked a starforge with 600 fusings. 7 ex profit. But i kept it and since it was my third season i just got like 10 ex in total... But i also spent 6k fusings on this damn astral plate i wanted ;( But to switch or corrupt some jewels is always fine. Most harvest-crafts are useless. But jewels...

Watchstones are a GREAT way to craft a ton using low-risk currency. Your best bet are usually Platinum Watchstone but Chromium and Titanium have their perks. Alts + Augs are very inexpensive, and good rolls can be a couple hundred chaos, like Tier 1 Chayula on Platinum Lira Arthain or Platinum Lex Proxima. A few great rolls like Harbinger currency tier and 4 ritual altars are 7+ ex (about 850 chaos) in the right area

Best of all the bonuses are unending improvements to your maps unless you reroll or swap the watchstone (hence why the get expensive)

I know a little bit of crafting, but it came from reading tons of Reddit posts, trial and error and just sheer frustration. This video sums it all, and all players interested in crafting should see this, good job mate! Video is well made and you explaing very well all the mechanics with examples.

Even if you only watch the first 5 min of item bases, incredibly informative. Great vid, very in depth

Important note for newer players: Divine Orbs and Exalted Orbs recently swapped value due to the crafting changes.

I've been playing PoE since closed beta in 2013 and already knew all this info but I like your videos and your demeanor so much I decided to just randomly watch this to see how good it would be to recommend to new players who ask for helpful videos. This is probably the best video I've ever seen for a new player to really learn about and more importantly understand basic to advanced crafting or really ANY advanced aspect of PoE. You should feel very proud of the work you put in to this. I'm sure you've helped countless new players enjoy PoE much much more.

No, it's...how many balls are in the basket for that mod. Does that make sense? Put one ball in a basket for that mod per weight so the higher the number the more likely it gets picked.

A more detailed way to think of it similar to how it was originally explained is think of a 10 sided dice. (weight total 10 or the 83000 number or whatever it was in the video during item bases) now think +1 fire damage has a weight of 6 +2 fire damage has a weight of 3 +3 fire damage has a weight of 1 the weight between all of them is 10, so we will be rolling a 10 sided dice, picking a random number 1 through 10, or anything like that. since +1 fire damage has "6' weight. 1 through 6 on our dice will be +1 fire damage since +2 fire damage has "3" weight +2 will be 7 through 9 and lastly if you're lucky, if you roll the arbitrary 10, on the 10 sided dice, you got lucky and got the +3 fire damage so a 1 in 1800 chance of getting something would more look like this: +1 fire damage has a weight of 1000 +2 fire damage has a weight of 799 +3 fire damage has a weight of 1 altogether they come up for a total of 1800 weight. But that one mod in specific that you want, is only a weight of 1. Incase you weren't quite understanding the balls in a basket, I hope this detailed description on how it works, is a little more understandable.
