You da man. Very clear video for us diy’res. You make a lot of these how to videos look like clown. Thank you
Mine has a sensor on the end near the turbo.....should i just plug that hose, not mess with the sensor and then delete the box?
With the combination of Lee and the absence of Troy, this may be your best video yet!
What size is the stud
There is no filter in the 2011-12. That ccv is hollow. Just a series of baffles. Something else in the motor is causing crank case pressure. The cel is from the sensor on the turbo side of the tube running from the ccv box to the turbo.

Your correct I misused the term filter, it’s a separator that can still get restricted and over pressurize the crank case which is what was going on here. It solved most of the problem, the leak ended up being the vacuum pump bolts were loose, typical problem on the early 6.7s, which the restricted “separator” amplified the problem. I have a video on that also. So forgive me for saying “filter”. It’s a good mod regardless and I recommended it to the customer cause I like keeping things clean and recirculating hot vaporized oil back into the motor has never made a lot of sense to me.
Awesome video. By chance, do you know where it’s made?? Trying to decide I want to go with smeding or spelab?

These trucks are notorious for the vacuum pump to leak due to bolts not properly torque/thread locked from the factory.

You’re absolutely correct. Mine was leaking too. A lot of people just tighten the bolts down. But I took the time and put a new seal in with loctite on the bolts
Will this void my warranty?

Your truck doesn't use a filter. They are to different models of housing

This isn’t my truck, your correct it isn’t a filter is more of a reservoir, regardless they end up leaking oil once they fill up, cleans the engine bay up. You people that are so concerned on being politically correct blow my mind. You knew what I meant, you knew it didn’t matter if it was the filter or the canister. Who cares and it doesn’t matter yet y’all feel so compelled to pat yourselves on the back with a politically correct comment.

It's needed. If it's clogged it could be replaced. The turbo is going to start leaking oil into the exhaust without it. Another problem is you are not pulling the oil vapors from the crankcase so internally that is going to contaminate the internals (oil). There should be a better option.
@AutomedicGarage
Жыл бұрын
This works great, the vapors come out through the pipe under the truck. I have had zero trucks develop leaks with this. If you run the CCV hose a long distance yes but if you run it straight down, zero issues. It’s oil vapor, it won’t contaminate anything. You act like it’s something that isn’t already in the engine. I understand the concept of increased crank case pressure if it isn’t drawn out but if you run the hose as short a distance as possible I and others have had zero issues. It was the same argument on the 6.0s and 7.3s but it all worked fine for me also. If you don’t like it don’t do it. The truck in that video has had 50k miles put on it and is over 300k miles total now with no issues. Thanks for watching.

@@RoadKing05FLHR the funny thing is I’ve seen more issues with the factory setup on the early 6.7s with the factory CCV box than any other and this solved the problem. It slowed the customers leak which is what I suspected. I explained that his CCV filter had never been changed and was way over due for it anyway and that regardless this would be worth doing and that we may have to come back and readdress the issue which is the vacuum pump bolts aren’t torqued correctly(common) and the seal/gasket should probably be replaced which is what we are doing next when he can go without the truck for a day and I’ll do another video on that. Thanks for commenting. Stay tuned.
