Nice work. I glad you took the tome to post a few videos on it. I have had my Navistar block bare on the stand for couple years. Just about done collecting all the goodies and these videos are good motivation for getting moving on it. That plus my current motor in the suburban is consuming coolant. 😅

Well done! Just finished my Optimizer build about the same time you did. You should get a oil temp gauge. I noticed the oil tends to get hotter then the coolant. I added a remote electric oil cooler. I am considering an HX35w just to help with the egts not increase boost. Any future plans for it?

Havent been driving it much but ive put about 2500 miles on the rebuild mostly pulling trailer with my tractor on it. Still havent had the chance to install hx40 but im getting close to wanting that extra power and lower egts. Will definitely do it this winter if i dont get to it this summer.

@@averybryant yes it's getting cool out specially here in Saskatchewan I just got a 96 Chevy Silverado K1500 6.5 turbo with 500 000km on it runs great was parked for 4 year sounds like a have a small knock the previous owner said it never did that when parked. They parked it cause the trans was starting to slip in 4th so I bought a parts trucks 97 I'm switching the 97 transmission transfer case dash and whirring harness over to the 96 as I like the 97-00 dash better and I'm switching the 96 manual 4x4 over to the 97 pushbutton 4x4 system. He claims he put a rod through the oil pan on the 97 6.5 yet I no dents in the pan so was thinking of yanking the motor and rebuilding it but I'm worried it will be a waste of time as it'll be a squiter block not that I'm scared of them oil change oil change oil change and the will live for ever as far as I'm concerned. When you pulled your block appart was thee any cracks ?

Sounds like a cool project man. Yes when I took apart the old engine every single main web was cracked, some were super bad too. It was a not squirter block 599 also. I got this block from someone who got it from a machine shop that tore down and inspected them. I think I posted one of those “shorts” videos of the old block cracks on my channel, or I probably showed it in the tear down video
