I love that you are embracing were you are currently in your fitness. A lot of collegiate/elite runners would hide this part of training. It's amazing that you are being so open about the comeback!

I don’t get it. A few weeks ago you had an Achilles injury, complained that doctors couldn’t help you, and now you’re running flat out 5k. Mercy on your tendons.

Way more than 1%! When you get old, waking up early anyway, getting out with people on a Saturday morning is actually really fun. Its big part of many run clubs too - which have been exploding. You should start your own running club 😊 Everyone *thinks* they can run, but watching you take off at the start makes it so obvious you're a professional. Its awesome to watch. Such a fun video.

Are your goals now limited to local races and becoming a "local legend" (whatever that means)? Or do you still have serious ambitions in the sport? I can understand switching your focus to the roads - more easily available competitve opportunities - but you are better tha simply becoming another slow jogger with access to a laptop. Shouldn't you be aiming at sub 14 for 5K?

He'll get back into his 14 minute 5k shape but it will take some time to get there, but he has to make sure he's not going super crazy intense in his training and hurting himself in the process.
